I have officially retired!! 30 years of service with the State of GA. I'm only 54, so I'm sure that some other job is out there waiting. For now, I'm just enjoying kicking back and doing nothing!!

Congratulations! That sounds wonderful. I am so looking forward to retirement. I understand the enjoyment of kicking back and doing nothing. I was 40 when I had DD13 and was on maternity leave nearly 5 months. I know I had a baby but it was so different than having to get up and go to work and deal with all the "stuff". I was a manager and worked alot of extra hours. That is not to say that SAHM do nothing, it was just a welcome change of pace for me and one tiny baby didn't make near the mess that she did as she became mobile. :D

Hey, congrats! You're my role model!:D Unfortunately, DH and I would like to pay off our house before retiring, so I have 10 more years.

Congrats! I have 23 more years! :rotfl:

Wouldn't it be funny to get one of the countdown tickers saying 23 years until retirement!? :rotfl:

So when you moving to Disney? :mickey:

Congrats! I dream of the day I can retire too! Right now I'd be content being Stay at Home Girl....or even working from home....but alas...I'm here...

DH will be able to retire LONG before me & he claims I can retire at the same time...

Thanks guys! I must admit it's really weird to check "retired" on the surveys!! :cooldance: No trips to Disney for awhile--too hot. Me and Mom do have trips planned for Oct and Dec.

 Congrats on your retirement!

I really hope to semi-retire by 55 (kids will be out of college and hopefully the house by then!) My Disney addiction may be the only thing that puts it off for a few years (unles of course the semi-retired job is working at WDW!)

How wonderful.............can I tell you I am a bit envious....I know that my day will come sooner or later (unfortunately Ithink later!)....but oh how nice......enjoy yourself and then when you feel like it look for something part time that YOU want to do! (I use to work for the State of Mass/college system so I have enough time vested for a minimal retirement benefits when I hit 63...only 23 years and 8 days to go!)

Put your feet up and relax

I wish it was me! Congrats! I have 28 years with the great state of Tennessee. Two years and I will hit that magic 30 years. But like others I had my children late in life and being a single lady I will have to keep working for a while. Good thing is I love my job.

Congrats!!:cooldance: Enjoy some relaxation!
As for me, being a SAHM means I won't ever get to retire!
Sometimes, I think it would be nice to have a part-time job, at least - or work from home doing what I earned my certification in - but then I realize I'm quite busy enough already. Maybe when all the kids go to school, I can do something.
