ACCKK! I saw gas went up to 3.19 in Indy. INSANE! I'm glad that I work from home. I really feel for all those people who commute. It has to be taking a huge toll on their budgets.

I'm in northern IN and it's 3.19 here too. My DH and I both have to drive about 30 miles to work so it's a big chunk of $$ every week...

Today in NJ its 2.75... i know that may seem low to you but NJ traditionally has lower gas prices than the rest of the nation because we refine most of it here. for us thats high.DH carpools so we actually drive our car very little.

With summer vacations coming on I wanted to share this link with all of you. If you plan your trip, you can match up where you stop with zip codes (use USPS.com to find them) and you can save a tank or two in savings.

I paid $3.20 today at Costco. I changed childcare providers so that I wouldn't have as long a commute to take the baby back & forth. It's saving me about $40.00 a week.

I guess the responsible thing would have been for me to cash out for $100 in Shell cards today instead of for Disney gift cards for a trip two years from now. Oh well... no one ever said I was responsbile :rotfl:

I was going to fill up night before last at 2.92 but I was tired and it was raining so I skipped it. The next night it was still raining and it was 3.19. I filled up this morning (still raining!) and paid 3.19 and on my way home, go figure, it was down to 3.12 and had quit raining. I can't seem to win this gas game. UGH

I'm really glad I only live about 8 miles from work. Bad part is DH sells real estate and is on the road all the time. He drives a diesel so it doesn't fluctuate as bad as gasoline does, but our fuel bill is still probably $300+ a month. I wish we could get Sunshine Rewards for that! I am glad we are at least getting visa points for it, though.

We're hovering right at $3 here in Tucson. I'm afraid to see what it's going to be in Anaheim when we're at DLR. California usually is a good .30-.50 more per gallon than AZ.

Forget the gas prices, what about milk prices. We only buy a half gallon a week, so I rarely look at the prices. Last time I looked(about 3 months ago), half gallon prices were about 1.43. Today, I paid 2.13 for a half gallon of 1%. That is crazy.

UGH!! It's so hard when gas goes up!! I am a supervisor for a Home Health Care company and drive all over checking on clients. I get reimbursed .50 a mile, but when gas goes high it doesn't even cover it! DH commutes 30 miles and I do some weekend shifts at a hospital 45 miles away. Then when we are home we drive in circles all over town shuffling the kids around. At least I live in NJ where it is $2.75 and not $3.19 !!

Wis. Gas Station Shuts Pumps Over Prices
By DINESH RAMDE, Associated Press Writer
Fri May 25, 1:03 AM

MEQUON, Wis. - Motorists pulled in to Harvey Pollack's gas station Thursday, honked and gave him a thumbs-up _ because he wasn't selling any fuel.

The owner of Towne Market Mobil in this suburb north of Milwaukee shut down his pumps for 24 hours, hoping to start a movement aimed at persuading oil companies to lower their prices.

"Somebody out there is making money at these prices, but not me," said Pollack, 57. "So I just thought: What can I do to help the consumer?"

Yellow caution tape surrounded Pollack's six idle pumps for his protest, which drew dozens of drivers. One in a green minivan rolled down her window and shouted "Thank you!"

Maria McClory, 38, drove 10 miles out of her way to buy a diet soda from Pollack's station after seeing local television coverage of the protest.

"I just wanted to support them and thank them for making a statement," said McClory, who drives about 100 miles a day for work in her sport utility vehicle.

Other drivers were more skeptical.

Jeff Bensman, 52, pulled in expecting to gas up his Honda sedan. He said he appreciated the protest but did not think it would make much difference.

"Most other places are going to be open in the area," he said.

Jack Sobczak, general sales manager for Lakeside Oil Co., a contracted Mobil distributor that supplies Pollack's station, said Bensman was probably right: "The demand will just move down the street to the next Mobil station."

Pollack and station general manager John Schwartz agreed to experiment with a pump shutdown after an Internet-based push for a one-day gas boycott went largely unheeded last week.

"Somebody's got to be the first to try this," Schwartz said.

The Mequon station sells about 3,500 gallons of gas a day, Pollack said. He estimated the station would lose only $1,500 on the protest because some losses in gas would be made up by people buying convenience store items or more gas on Friday.

Pollack, who also owns a Milwaukee title insurance agency, said he bought the gas station in 2003 as an investment but he has not turned a profit in 30 months because gas margins are razor thin and he cannot sell enough volume to compensate.

Pollack said he has virtually no control over the price he charges for gas. The company usually makes 8 to 12 cents per gallon after suppliers' prices and credit card fees. On Wednesday _ the day before the protest _ that added up to $3.49 for a gallon of unleaded gas.

Schwartz called that "outrageous" and said even he can't fill up his SUV at that price.

"If it keeps going like this, my kids will never be able to afford to drive," said Schwartz, who has an 18-year-old son and 15-year-old daughter.

i just filled up yesterday for $3.01 at a shell in philadelphia suburbs. you should have seen the madness! i was there 10 minutes and cars were flying in and out of there backing up and maneuvering trying to get a spot, waiting, but in a lot of cases they ended up leaving and having to go across the street where it was $3.05 and $3.09. thats a big difference!

You know, the worst part of it is that when gas prices go up, so does everything else. We have a Dodge minivan, and I definitely feel the pinch with every $50.00 fill-up.

But, then, I was in the grocery store yesterday and milk has gone up to 3.89 or 4.29 a gallon, depending on brand. GASP!!! I'm thinking "I have three kids who go through AT LEAST a gallon every other day".

YOWSAH!!!!

I know building supplies went up dramatically last time there was a gas hike, but they never went down when gas went down. Now they will hike again. It really does affect everything....

Sigh...:(

$3.39 in NE Ohio.

Giant Eagle is offering $1.00 off per gallon of gas at Getgo (Up to 30 gal.) for each transferred perscription. They usually charge a little more for their gas, but it's still worth it with the savings.

Well with the summer driving season almost over, and winter up next, I think we may soon start seeing prices increas again! I know not something we want to here, but it alwasy seems that as we change from one season to the next and the demand changes we see an up ward turn in the price of gas!

I do hope i am wrong and that we keep seeing it go down, but it seems that big oil always finds a reason to increase prices, always!

future prices just decreased so all the refineries are dumping their stock (I spend way too much time on Factiva). I'm sure by late fall the oil prices will go up since there will be no inventory sitting in storage. So no worries. Prices will even out or go up. :p

Prices are going to go up! There are a couple of storm systems that are being looked at. If they get the sense that these are going to be hurricanes the prices will jump. They sent Hurricane Hunters out today to actually look at a system that is heading into the gulf. :( Though they have not named this one yet there is the possibility it could turn into a tropical storm or even a hurricane.
There is also Dean out there in the Atlantic, though it is still only a tropical storm!
