A tripadvisor review? Any tips? I want to let the internets know to steer clear of where we stayed Saturday night in NYC, but dont want to come accross as one of those psycho ranters.

Actually, I have posted on TripAdvisor before. I just kept it factual, pointing out the pros and cons. Personally, I have a hard time believing any trip report that is too dramatic or negative. I think you get your point across better by writing objectively. You will get an e-mail from Trip Advisor prior to your post appearing online so I think they are all scrutinized.

I have never posted a review but I have asked questions and have received a lot of helpful advice over there. The reviews can be a little over the top sometimes but I still find it a very informative site. It helped me narrow down our hotel for Chicago and it ended up being AWESOME!!

Please post! I use those reviews all the time before I book hotels.
We had a horrible experience in June at a hotel for my SIL's wedding. We had the whole out of town guests booking there. The week we were there they had us all on different floors (1st, 2nd and 4th). No ice maker on the 4th floor the entire time. The elevators were broken a couple days. According to a maid, she got stuck in it a while back for over 10 minutes. So this is not a first time thing with the elevator. They were putting chemicals in the pool on a Friday when most people checked in (the most popular time!). IT just went on and on. I think people need to know these things so they know how they will be treated at hotels.
I also look for the dates to see if they are recent, since things do change.
LIke others said, just stick to the facts and state pros and cons. Don't give opinions. Just facts!

Yes, please post. I, too, rely upon those reports and I've found them extremely helpful. I do read other sites as well so I can compare them all.
