WELL, SOME OF IT WILL...;)
The Beginning:
DH and I had a fabulous trip to Las Vegas. It was a much anticipated and needed trip as we hadn't been away alone since 2002 when we went on a Cruise to the Bahamas, so we were thrilled at the opportunity of spending some adult time together. NO CHILDREN. No catering to their needs. No picking up behind them so the house keeper wouldn't think we were all slobs. No worrying about voice control. No crying about being tired. No crying because they wanted to go back to hotel to swim. And no mommy appropriate gowns. Oh, and did I mention: NO CHILDREN!
I stopped taking my chemo in June so I would be ready for this trip. I didn't won't to take my wheelchair and had planned on leaving it here, but reluctantly the day before it was time leave I went ahead and added it to my airplane reservation. I didn't won't anything to keep me from having a wonderful time as I knew there was going to be a lot of walking involved.
Little did I know that would allow me to board the plane first and pick my seating before any others. As I walked on the plane I started counting rows because Cindy told me that row 11 had more leg room. But she didn't tell me that row 11 also came with responsibilities. LOL. The attendant asked me if I was aware that who ever sits in that row had to be responsible for everyone on the plane. I thought he was joking, so I laughed. He didn't. He said seriously, all those that choose those seats are responsible for helping others if there is trouble on the plane so you have to be physically fit. Needless to say, I declined the suggested seats and sat in the next row. My first flight was absolutely fabulous! When we took off my tickle box turned over and I couldn't stop laughing. It reminded me of one of those super fast rides at a theme park.
Oh, and Dude, I asked the attendant about you and she said of course she remembered you, but she was a bit surprised that you remembered her considering on your last flight you mentioned your memory was slipping. LOL.
We decided to just take it day by day and not purchase tickets online before leaving home. So I hauled the old laptop with us and decided we would just purchase them the night before for whatever shows we wanted to see. I would have hated to pre-purchase such expensive tickets and not feel well enough to attend.
I had my list of the shows that were a must for us to see:
The Divine Bette Midler
The Blue Man Group
O - Cirque Du Soleil
Stomp Out Loud
Wayne Brady
However, things didn't go as planned. The hotel charged 34.99 for 24 hrs of continuous usage. Plus you had to buy some type of cord for 20.00 even if you had a wifi-card!!! So that was out of the question. The next option was to call home and have someone log into my SR account and at least purchase the Blue Man Group and Wayne Brady. They both could have been purchased from the same website which really was The Venetian Hotel. So I called home and had DS23 log in and walk him through the process. For some reason he kept getting logged out of The Blue Man Group link. After several attempts he got frustrated so I gave up. :(
We had a very early flight and arrived in Vegas at 10:00 am. Thankfully, I requested early check-in and the Bellagio was able to accommodate us.
Stay tune as there is a lot more to come!
Did I get a chance to see all of the fabulous shows that I wanted to see?

Puhleeze...don't leave us in suspense! Enquiring minds (and, nosey ones) want to know. And, an adult trip. Wow! I think my last adult trip was in 1994, before I was a mom. I love my girls, but I do miss adult time. However, last Disney trip, mine were finally old enough to spend part of their time going their own way and I went mine. Straight off to shop, my favorite past time. :p But, you...you had a husband with you. And, non-Mama gowns. Bet, shopping wasn't the only thing on your mind.:D

Day One
As we pulled up in front of the Bellagio we were blown away with it's beauty. The dancing waterfalls were stunning. The inside was breathtaking and the anticipation of what awaited us upon arriving to our room had us as excited as a child on Christmas morning. However, I was quickly disappointed as it wasn?t what I was expecting. It was nice but simple. It wasn't anything exciting. For the cost we both were expecting a lot more. We've found other hotel rooms to be much more exciting. ( And one year after traveling from Disneyland we drove back through Las Vegas and spent the night in the Golden Nugget and the room was breathtaking and looked like a million bucks. I think we kinda expecting something more on that level.)
However, the view was absolutely fabulous and there were NO CHILDREN. Our room was facing the strip and directly in front of the dancing fountains, Paris, Planet Hollywood and other hotels. The most exciting thing in the hotel room besides the view was the fact that we could open the curtains from a button alongside the bed. Now the bed and the pillows were heavenly!!!! It made up for the lack in decor. Perhaps the cost was for the live flowers everywhere and the constant running of water.
After we were settled in our room we were starving so we went on a food hunt. We found one of our favorites- P. F. Chang's and enjoyed some delicious Chinese food. Afterwards, we headed to Cesar's Palace to see if we could get tickets for the Divine Ms. Bette Middler. Her show was completely sold out and she wouldn?t be back until September or October. Boy was I disappointed! The ticket lady had to rub it in by telling us how wonderful the show was and that it was the best show in Vegas in years. Thanks lady! That made me feel much better. So we headed off to see if we could get tickets for Stomp Out Loud. We were successful. It was still early and we had quite a bit of time before the show so we headed back to the hotel to freshen up and watch the dancing water show from the room. We even had enough time for DH to see nightie number one!
The show was absolutely fabulous!!! It was group that made music with every and anything including the kitchen sink without making a sound vocally. By the end of the show everyone was on their feet cheering and raving! What a burst of excitement. We definitely could have watched it each night we were there, but we had other shows on the list.
After the show we walked around Planet Hollywood and the shops. Finally, after midnight we headed back to our room and I slipped into nightie number 2 and we ate our cold Chinese food in bed and it never tasted so good.
All of this and it was just day one. Wow. What would day two bring?

For all those that aren't bored yet, here's more.
Day Two
After calling and checking on the kiddos we ordered breakfast in bed. Now DH loves to eat early but I'm not a breakfast person at all, but what the heck, there were NO CHILDREN so room service it was.
After breakfast we got up and headed downstairs to try and get tickets for O. They were sold out. We could have waited until later and tried for stand by tickets, but I didn't want to miss something else hoping to get some canceled seats. So we headed to the Venetian in hopes to get tickets for the Blue Man Group and Wayne Brady. We were in luck. We had tickets for the first show for the Blue Man Group and tickets for the last show of the night for Wayne Brady. I was one happy person.
Since we had tickets for the two shows in that hotel we spent the entire day in the Venetian. Something happened to my camera and I almost lost it. I blamed it on a gentleman that was nice enough to take a picture of DH and I together. So we wasted a lot of time sitting around trying to figure out what was wrong with it. I was just ready to go and buy a new one as fast as possible because I wasn?t going to miss out on taking pictures. After walking around for awhile we came across a camera shop inside the Venetian and I had someone look at it. They said it was something internal but if I kept the viewfinder closed it would be okay. What a relief. However, I was still upset because I just bought that darn camera last summer especially for Disney World and it shouldn't be acting up already. I'm sure it's still under warranty so I definitely need to check it out in the next few days.
Anyway, I've never seen anything so beautiful. We took a private Gondola Ride. It was very nice and romantic but the serenading kinda got on my nerves. Lol.
We came across this little pretzel and candy apple shop so I couldn't refuse buying a chocolate covered walnut cameral apple so I could compare it with Mrs. Prindables. It failed miserably. It was okay, but nothing compared to Mrs. Prindables.
We walked around and did some shopping for the kiddos-guilt shopping! Nothing for me. Then we grabbed a quick bite at one of the little restaurants before the first show. We were so excited about seeing the Blue Man Group with all of the hype I'd read and heard.
After the first two minutes of the show I wanted my money back!!!!! DH and I were both sorely disappointed. There was another couple behind us that shared the same sentiments. I couldn?t believe that we paid that much money to watch three men eat Twinkies with a guest from the audience. I even fell asleep. I couldn?t believe what we were watching. I couldn?t wait for it to be over. At the end of the show they pulled rolls and rolls of paper throughout the show. I couldn?t believe they actually wasted trees for that. Oh, and at the beginning of the show they gave everybody a piece of this tissue to wrap around their bodies. At the end it glowed. Wow!
After the show the Blue Man Group did come out and allowed pictures to be taken with them. I managed to take one. I walked up to him and said, Hi! I was not about to lie and say great show! I really wanted to ask him can I have my money back. Let's just say I enjoyed taking the picture more than I enjoyed the show.
Well, I knew Wayne Brady definitely wouldn't disappoint. So we headed over to his theatre and was greeted with a smiling face giving sad news. Wayne Brady was sick and wouldn't be performing. He was really sick the night before but preformed anyway but tonight he couldn't. He also said that refunds would be issued. I didn't want a refund. I wanted to see Wayne. I wanted to cry.
All and all day two was excellent expect for my camera acting up and The Blue Man Group. The Venetian Hotel was stunning! Simply breathtaking.

I'm loving your trip report.
So sorry you didn't like the Blue Man Group. We just think they're a lot of fun and the whole family really enjoys the shows. But, just goes to show ya, to each his own and that's what makes the world go 'round. Maybe because we've seen them in smaller venues, it might seem like a totally different experience.
Looks like you guys were having a fantastic time!!!!

I'm thinking they do different shows and perhaps it was just the show that we watched that wasn't good at all. We spoke with some other people about the show afterwards, and they told us that when The Group first came out they were simply awesome but over a period of time they've seemed to lose some of the excitement that they first displayed. So maybe that's what it was. But you're right, every one has different tastes. But I do remember seeing them on a popular talk show a few years back and I loved them.
If they are performing every night they have to change up their routine, so maybe that was just one of the not so good shows. :(

Lisa,
I am so sad and really bummed that you didn't get to see Wayne Brady. DH and I absolutely loved his show. I saw the Blue Man Group when they first came out. They were so much fun... and crazy! My cousin and his wife saw them in April and between their report and what you have told us, I probably wouldn't go see them again.
It sounds like you had an amazing time. It is always good to get away and reconnect with the spouse... and a few nighties don't hurt either! :rotfl:
One thing DH and I have never done is the gondola ride. That is on the very top of our to-do list for our next trip to Vegas. Well that... and the latest ride added to the top of the Stratosphere! :D
Can't wait to hear more about your trip. I love Vegas!

Sorry the shows aren't turning out how you had hoped, Wayne Brady would be the TOP one on my list. I used to watch him everyday at the YMCA during my workout. There was a group of us who would run on the treadmill laughing our butts off he was so good.

Thanks guys! Yes, I think we both hit the jackpot! For sure, he still makes my heart flutters when he enters the room. That amazes me even after 27 years of marriage. God has definitely blessed us in the marriage department.
As for the shows, we were eventually satisfied! Not seeing Wayne Brady was a big disappointment especially since we splurged and bought VIP seats. With those seats you got a chance to meet him.
We were just so excited after seeing the first show which was awesome, but the next show on the list was a huge sucess.
Yes, we had a ball without the kids and already planning next year's trip without them.:p
Pamela- it's a ton of things to do as an adult. We never had a dull moment and neither DH and myself gamble. So we didn't spend any time in the casinos except for passing through. But we did watch a few people lose some mighty large jackpots!!! I couldn't imagine just giving money away like that, but hey, to each it's own.

Day 3
We kinda slept in and then went down and had the lunch Buffet at the Bellagio. It was heavenly but the desserts were to die for..Oh, I thought about Jen and her love for Disney foods! LOL. I ate so many little cheesecakes that I just had to finally stop myself. LOL. We then headed to the Ticket Booth to try for another show. Since O was sold out we decided to try Love by the Beatles or KA, both by Cirque Du Soleil. I would have loved to see both, but time wouldn't allow for it, so we went with KA since it was a story about twins. We were really excited as I knew Cirque Du Soleil wasn't going to disappoint us.
We had quite a few hours to kill before the show so we decide to do a little shopping at the Via Shops of Bellagio. We went into this one shop because my eyes caught a glimpse of a pair of beautiful shoes. There were two salespersons in there that we noticed weren't too quick to help us. Then my eyes fell upon a handbag that was simply beautiful and I wanted it. So my DH went to solicit some help and I could tell that the saleslady didn't really want to help us. I guess she thought we weren't going to buy anything. I asked her a few questions and didn't like the way she responded so we left. Her lost, as I did a "Pretty Woman" move on her. I saw the same handbag at another boutique at another Hotel. I can't even pronounce the name of the handbag, but it is simple gorgeous and of course, I insisted on passing back through to show it off on my arm. Ha, Ha! It was definitely a special treat and perhaps a tad bit of "don't judge me" purchase!
We also did more guilt shopping for the twins. Took all of our goods back to the hotel and headed to the show.
KA was absolutely fabulous! As we arrived at the theatre, we knew we were in for a treat. From the door men to the greeters, it was entertaining. I'd never seen anything like it before. The acrobatics performed were awesome and the storyline was really good. Of course, I couldn't help but think of my own twins. Highly recommended!!
After the show we accidentally ran across Emeril's as it was in the same Hotel and of course we had to dine there. It was just as I thought, delicious! I kept looking and hoping I would see him, but no such luck.

It sure does llok like you had a good time in the M & M store. But then again who wouldn't? Please post a picture of your new handbag. I am glad that you did a pretty woman - serves them right for judging you. I really don't understand why sales people do that. Just because of the way a customer is dressed or looks should not interfer with them doing their job - waiting on the customer. You can't judge a book by its cover and you never know who is going to make that large purchase and who is just window shopping.

I know. I was surprised at how we were treated. That actually wasn't the only store. DH was "looking" at some sun glasses in Dolce & Gabbana (?sp) and they were even worse. We were in that store for the longest and no one approached us. And we were the only customers in there!!! For sure, we weren't gonna buy a pair of sun glasses for that amount of money!!!! And, normally I wouldn't pay that much for a handbag. Yeah, I've paid a nice price for a Coach and a D&B, but nothing to that extent. And, to be honest, I probably wouldn't have bought that one. :rotfl:

I would LOVE to have all sorts of bags in different colors, but everytime I start looking, I walk away.....I own 2 purses and they BOTH were given to me as gifts. Sad....very sad! So I am glad that YOU bought that bag! And I am glad that you did NOT buy it at the first place....Very rude people.....

I am so glad you had such a wonderful time. And what a way to rekindle that
love affair. Just makes the next 27yrs (I think I read that right) something more to look forward to.

Yeah, we did have a wonderful time in M&M store! We both took a ton of silly pictures. And then inside the Coca -Cola store next to it. Just pure fun.
mia214jia- you read it right and for sure, we are already planning next year's trip for just the two of us. Normally, we start planning the family vacation as soon as we return but for some reason or another I can't even concentrate on that one. :rotfl:

Angela, that doesn't mean you're a cheapie, you'd just rather spend your money elsewhere. ;)

Ok, I'm a bit behind on this TR but here goes...
-You & DH are so dang cute I can't stand it!!
-DH & I went to Vegas for our honeymoon & we stayed at the Belliago too. Have to totally agree that while the lobby, the casino, the restaurants are FABULOUS, the rooms were pretty disappointing. We didn't have a strip view either...so it was really bad!!
-LOVED the buffet at Belliago!! Yummmm...
-Blue Men scare me...sorry you didn't like it though...but at least now you know.
-Sorry about Wayne Brady...DH LOVES him!!
-Sad to hear about the sales people, but I'm sure they get more people "just looking" than they do actually buy...TOTALLY not defending them at all...they probably just don't know how to interact w/people!
-Most importantly...where is that bag photo?!

That's okay, Jen! I kinda forgot about it and need to complete this TR! LOL.
Thanks! LOL. Yeah, I think DH is a cutie as well. Yep, I was very disappointed in the room. And we had major problems with it as well. I plan on writing a letter to the president of the hotel as the manager didn't care.
Yes, the buffet was wonderful and I thought of you as I ate all of those beautiful petite desserts.
You're right about the sales people because the store was completely empty.
I do plan to post a picture of my beautiful handbag. I'm shame to admit that I haven't quite finished unpacking.
And about the gambling stories, there aren't any. LOL. Believe it or not, we are too cheap to gamble. Hey, I need all of my money even the pennies as they too add up. :rotfl: But we did see quite a few sad faces as we passed through the casinos.:rotfl:
I will try to complete this report really soon as the next vacation will soon be here.:) Hopefully, I won't bore you guys too much!
ETA: What year did you and DH get married? :)

Yeah they might not have known you wanted to buy it but they could have at least asked!

2000....made it really easy for DH....every year we're married it's the same as the year it is....no math involved!! ;)
And I guessed there was no gambling involved since you guys were errr... busy...plus seeing all the shows!! :rotfl:

I know!! I need to finish this story. I've had so much on my plate lately. With all of my doctor appointments plus all of the kids annual checkups and They seem to never end.
I'll definitely wrap it up soon and take another picture of the purse probably this weekend as we must get all of the luggage unpacked, and clothes washed before school begins on the 25th.
I think I have Day four and five remaining. Now day five is for sure a SUNSHINE DAY!!!;)
The trip with the kids want take as long. LOL. I'l probably do that in one day. :rotfl:
But hold on guys, it's coming!:) I'm glad I'm not boring you and someone actually wants to read my report or is it the PURSE you guys are dying to see.:rotfl:

Lisa - by no means are you boring me - I can't wait to read more. I too dream of the day that just DH and I can get away for some "adult" time. This year was our 20th anniversary and it worked out that my parents could not watch the kiddies any of the weekends that DH could have a Friday off of work so we just said that we will try for a weekend in the fall. I am anxious to hear more.

Hi, I am semi new here and I am loving your trip report, it is very entertaining!
Oh and the "pretty women" thing just irks(for lack of a better word) me! I totally would have walked into the store and quoted julia roberts lol. No one deserves to be treated like that. A lady at a jewlery store pulled that stunt on my father when he asked to see some earrings, I cant remember her exact words but it was to the extent of these over here are cheaper, and she did it more than once! (he had been working outside all day so he wasnt the cleanest, her mistake!)he told her I didnt ask how much they were I said i wanted those. She changed her tune when she saw that he had a credit card with the store and his credit limit, then she got all nice and had the nerve to ask if he wanted something else! Needless to say my mom was not happy when she found out the way he was treated and she returned them to the manager and explained why, she told her I cant keep these knowing how my husband was treated when purchasing them. The sales lady hasnt been seen since:D serves her right. I'd send a letter to those stores managers as well as to the hotel.
