View Full Version : SR DCL

Let's just say for the sake of argument that Sunshine Rewards were to try to put together a cruise for the first week of August next summer and give away a cruise as a part of a big year-end promotion.

Some questions:

How many people would be at least moderately interested in going if we got special rates for the group? Would a 4-day cruise be the easiest way to get more people, or is 4 days not worth it?

Just starting to do some preliminary fact finding.

Gosh that would be awesome, I love the idea!! I love the four day idea!!

I would LOVE to do a SR DCL cruise but next year would be out for me. We already have a week in OBX, a week camping and 10+ days in Orlando planned. I promised the kids we would definitely do US/IOA next year so 10 days is a must!

I would be interested in Spring/Summer/Fall 2009 :sunshine:

Oh, I think 4 days would be good but 7/8 days would be nice as well

I would be interested also. The four day I think would be easier than the 7.

Especially because our school year starts around the 12-15th around here so I would need to be back in time for that.

Love the idea but already booked on Sept 1 when the Magic gets back from her west coast summer. Good luck for those who can do it!!!

That's a good point. For 2008 we have to be careful of the dates because of the summer moving around. I thought about right after New Years 2009 (which is really only 18 months away!), but I was afraid that it might be really expensive.

I would love a 4 day - would be even better if we could apply our rewards straight to it - without having to get gift cards or anything.

I think 4 days sounds great. I've been wanting to do a cruise -- so here's hoping I can talk DH into it. :sunshine:

I think it's a great idea and would be so much fun!:) Sadly cruises are a no-no for our family. :( My DS has autism and has very little concept of danger...a boat on open water would not be good for us! My heart is racing just typing this.

Being a teacher I am limited on dates - Aug is out - we go back to school July 23 (July 12 for teachers) Oct. may be less expensive than Jan. but I have always wanted to do a new years cruise!!

I'm all for cheap personally! Money saved on the cruise can go towards booze (or souvies lol) :)

I would love to go in January of 2009 -- when the prices drop down to their cheapest!!! A 4-day would be perfect. Sadly a 2008 cruise is out of the question for us.

ETA: If I was the winner, I would of course make myself available WHENEVER you wanted to sail!!! :cooldance:

hmm, I might have to go on the second Sr cruise. We have our vacations planned through January 2009, which is Disney so it would have to be later in 2009 for me to go. I think 4 days is good. I could get away from the family that long. (plus for me it would be like 5, 1 for traveling as I am on the FAR west coast.)

We are already booked for a 4 day Disney cruise next August, I think it departs on 8/17. Make it then and we'll be there:rotfl:

An SR cruise would be awesome, but I'm in the couldn't do it in 2008 group. :(

4 day excellent. Next August = pretty good, especially if WDW offers free dining again and during the time that we'd be getting back, so we could combine them. :p That August 17 sailing would be pretty good, as it will be our 5th anniversary on that day...hey, maybe we could have a sunshiney renewal! *

And a really good deal would be the best. We avoid DCL b/c it's so incredibly expensive, compared to our tried and true RCCL (I talk like I've been on more than one cruise, LOL), with too little obvious added value for us....so yeah, really good deal (or some way to ensure that we're the winners!) would be best. :sunshine2:

*yes I know 5 years isnt' that long...but I planned DH's dream wedding, and since we got back from our honeymoon, I've wanted to plan MINE...so you see, 5 years will have been 5 LONG years waiting for such a chance. teehee

Oh yeah!! That would be nice!!!!

I think we could swing a 4 day trip, although there is the chance that we could be "home" visiting....hmmmm. I guess it depends when it is.

But definately interested!!

I'd be very interested. We plan on planning a cruise after we get back from our December trip so it would be great to plan a Sunshine Cruise. :sunshine2:

I like the 4 day idea..August works for me...basically anytime school's out. In Texas, school can't start until the 4th Monday of August so I'm still good in August. However, we usually go back on the 2nd or 3rd of January so we'd have to pass on a January cruise.

I would definitely be interested in a SR DCL cruise. Four days would be fine. Either time period is OK with me. It would have to be the beginning to the middle of August or right around New Year's due to my DD's school schedules.

I must admit I haven't read through all the posts but...

I would LOVE to do a cruise!! I am limited as are so many others by the school schedule, since I teach.

Also, If cost is a detriment would it be cheaper to plan something that was *GASP* non-Disney?? I'd love to do a Disney cruise, don't get me wrong...but they are quite a bit more expensive than your normal cruise, no?? Just a thought.

I like the idea of 4 days. Might be a good idea to plan it a ways out, to give folks enough lead time to be planning.

Anyway, tose are my thoughts. I love the idea of a group discount, of course, and would definately consider it if the dates worked for us!!!:)

I would love to go but I can't get bf near a cruise ship even for a weekend cruise. My mom is the closest person I could talk into it but being trapped on a ship with her for vacation just wouldn't work very well for me mentally right now so I'll probably have to pass until I can talk bf into a cruise at some point. I'll keep watching the developments as you post.

Tricia - I would definitely be interested in this as well. Although I might prefer the 7 day...once you factor in airfare from CT, it's cheaper/day if you do the longer cruises, but if we only do the 4 day then I could plan a few days at WDW too...decisions decisions!!!
