So I haven't got my gift cards yet, but I placed my order on the 25th (Wednesday) in the wee hours for a $1000 and $300 gift cards for Disney (pay AAA package with them). I just logged in for the first time today here and I have $20.02 and $6.02 added. :)

WAHOO...it does credit fast. Hopefully they won't send you twenty six $50 cards!!! Your TA at AAA will love you :rotfl:

I wish I had known about GiveFun.com three months ago when I paid for our $3300 trip in full! But was able to use GiveFun when we added on two extra days :cooldance:

I haven't.

This one is starting to worry me a little :( I placed my order last week and didn't hear anything from them. I wrote them an email b/c I wanted to know when I could expect the cards. They wrote back that saying that they had tried calling me b/c they needed additional info. But I never received the call. So I called again today and they promised to have someone look into the status of my order right away.

I hope it doesn't take much longer to get resolved, I need those cards to pay off our vacation!

Okay so my mom got ours today and she ordered them Wed too. She talked to a great lady today and she said that they can get 100's also but it may take some time to get them. You may want to ask about it.

I didn't get mine yet. I called three time before they finnally gave me some info. They said they were trying to call me {but it's not on my caller ID.} Anyhow they said they didn't send them because the billing address and the mailing address were the same. They needed to make sure I didn't make a mistake. I told them that in the future that is how it would be, so they noted the account. She said they would go out today. Keeping my fingers crossed. I'll let you all know when they come.

I have been playing telephone tag with these people for the past 3 days!! :computer: Apparently those who answer the phone can't actually answer any questions or give me a status update, how frustrating!!!

I just hope my cards make it here sometime in the next week! I hope my credit shows up soon too! :(

Kim just suggested that I "chime" in on this discussion. I think I have this down to a science now. I have been in constant contact with GiveFun. They are based in the LA area. Very nice ladies and very accomodating.

I ordered my gift cards on 7/20. I talked to Mary on 7/25. She wanted to verify the amount due to increased fraudulent gift cards floating around out there. She told me that they would be shipped on 7/26.

I called her yesterday morning because I hadn't gotten them. She gave me the USPS tracking number and told me that she sent them Three Day Priority. Now, we all know that the USPS does nothing on the weekends -- Three Day Priority is three business days. I told Mary that I would call her when I received them. She was super.

I received them USPS Three Day Priority in yesterday's mail. And they were, in fact, mailed on 7/26. Everything good.

This morning I will be ordering more gift cards. We leave in two weeks for three weeks in WDW. Mary suggested that I call her when I place the order.

I have absolutely no complaints about GiveFun. Their customer service is exceptional. I have a feeling that their business has grown so fast that they are not able to keep up with the demand. I'm sure they are doing everything in their power to accommodate us.

Trisha - I appreciate what you do for us and I think that GiveFun is a great addition to our Sunshine Rewards stores.

So, I'm off to order my gift cards ---

Thanks for posting your experience kimkatmom, it made me feel much better!! :)

I think you're right, they seemed really nice on the phone and it does seem like they are getting alot of orders right now that maybe they didn't anticipate (I'm sure they can thank SR for some of that! )

Now that I have the process down and know that they are a legit company, I won't have so many worries with future orders. :)

I ordered mine on the 23rd, so hopefully they will come soon, I haven't gotten a call about it.

People who have gotten yours...are they all $50 GCs? I am just wondering if I will be getting 10 cards since I ordered $500 worth?!? I worry that they will get lost or something, guess I should have paid the extra for the tracking.

Has everyone been ordering gc's over $500? I'm just wondering if they do the same preventative measures on cards that aren't as high dollar wise. I'm also curious if people are getting a ton of $50 cards or higher dollar amount cards. I finally met my established minimum in my paypal account and was going to order my first set of cards from them but was curious about some things.

Mine was over $500, she didn't say though what they considered a really high amount.

I will let you know when I get my cards as to the denominations they come in. :)

haha. that is kinda of funny. at least it felt like you had a lot of money right? I thought I heard you could only pay on disneyworld.com with 2 gc's per day or is it per session? I think I'm going to order $200 worth of gc's and see how it goes since people are starting to get them and they do have good cs.

I just used 9 cards today (my balance was $405  ) It is a pain because you have to keep going thru the partial payment process. There isn't an easy way to do it! I used a total of 18 cards to pay for this trip!!!

Did you pay the extra for UPS?? I didn't, so I am assuming mine will come via USPS.

I did not pay for UPS. Someone else who order a significant amount said that they also received their cards via UPS 2nd day. Maybe they send the larger amounts via UPS for the tracking. These should have been sent last week but they weren't sent until Tuesday.

I am a bit ticked that these took so long. When I finally spoke with someone there last week she said that she was going to get higher denomination cards sent to me. Then these things come today. It was a real pain in the rear spending 20+ minutes entering these cards in one by one. To top it all off, I couldn't use gc's to order my MNSSHP tix so I had to use a cc for those anyways. Oh well, just means an extra $190 (in gc's) that I have to spend in WDW - oh the torture :p

SunshineGirl

Sure, now you tell me :rotfl: Not that I haven't MVMCP tix via phone and gc before! Oh well, I'll just have to find something to do with the extra Disney gc's or maybe I'll just have to order my next SR cashout in something other than Disney gc's (gasp)

hmm maybe they are doing the higher dollar amounts ups since they come with automatic insurance when you ship through them. I'm going to have to make a mental note of this thread for when I book my package and begin to try and pay for it with gc's. I have never done that so I'm definetly going to be having some questions on how to do it.

I received mine today! :) They came via UPS and did not require a signature. I would get on calling them right away, I don't know how long it would have taken if I had not called and finally confirmed everything with them. FYI, when they called my phone it came up as "unavailable" on the caller id.

Good luck! :)

I am so stinkin mad! I got my Bank of America visa bill in the mail today. $40.02 charged on it!

I ordered a $1000 and $300 Give fun Gift card and used this visa. I paid it cash at the bank the next day so I wouldn't get interest charged. Today I find out that the gift cards are 'like cash equivalent' and charged a 3% fee minumum $10 for things like that (gift cards, casino chips, travelers checks, money orders) with the visa card.

I've never had this sort of issue with a visa before. I told her we'd ordered gift cards before and never had this issue. The lady said that I'd better keep that quiet otherwise they might go back and charge me the fees anyways!

Nice. :(

Anyways, at least I got my gift cards and paid my AAA package. That was the most important part, but that $40 made this whole process not worth it. :( Next time, using the debit card - so much for trying to rack up points on my visa.

There's something REALLY wrong with this. We buy gift cards every single day--from Give Fun, Giftcertificates.com, direct from the merchants, etc. I've never had a bank charge a fee on them. I use Chase, American Express, and Citibank. If your bank is charging you for the gift cards, I think you need to tell them that you are going to find another bank because that is just crap.

I buy gift cards all the time for gifts and my own personal use! I have never been charged by any Credit Card Company for them! If i EVER did i would drop them faster then a hot pan! I do thank you for the info about bank america and what they are trying/are doing. I do the same thing with my cards pay them off in full the second the charge appears to aviod fees. That would have made me so very mad! I hope that mabey you can fight this and get the charged fees reversed here are some :hugs: :sunshine: for this is totaly a bad business move!

I agree with Tricia and bs4free, I can't imagine how they would keep customers with that type of policy.

Gift cards are not a cash equivalent, you can only use them for limited things, I don't see how the bank can argue that they are the same thing as cash which has no restrictions! :computer:

If I were you I would refuse to pay the charge before speaking with a manager and finding out where in the fine print this charge is noted. It does not sound like a customary industry charge AT ALL.

Good luck, I hope you can get them to reverse it, I feel so bad that you did the shopping to make money and then got nailed with an outrageous charge from your cc :(

That sounds horrible. I my opinion of BoA has been going down lately especially after the whole illegal immigrants can get bank accounts but not American citizens fiasco from a few months ago. Talk about ticked me off! While I hate Chase I'd never switch to BoA now.

Anyways I'd be on the phone with managers and getting that charge reversed. Gift cards maybe cash equivalents in the grand scheme of things but they are not the same as cash advances!

You should not be getting charged fees for buying gift cards. If they won't waive that fee you should cancel and go with someone else. Amex has the Amex blue that doesn't charge a fee for rewards (unlike the green card) and I love my Amex and the customer service is the best. I'm sure they would like your business and treat you well.

I would definately dispute that charge. I purchased a $1000 gc from givefun on 8/9. I used my BOA Worldpoints Platinum Plus Visa to pay for it. The charge posted to my credit card on 8/10 and I haven't seen any other charges related to it. I also paid the charge off two days later as to avoid finance charges. I've never been charged anything extra for purchasing gift cards, but I will double check after my statment cycle closes.

Thanks everyone! I am going to call back tomorrow and see what I can do. It nothing will be done, I'll just tell them I'll use another company that wants my business and move along to the Citi card I have being unused since Tricia has no issues buying gift cards.

I'm really disapointed in BofA now.

Oh and LeeAnn - that is the EXACT card I used: BOA Worldpoints Platinum Plus Visa. I've had it about a year, and didn't start using it until June (for SR), and now I'm thinking I'll just cancel it if they refuse to drop the $40.02.

This is crap. I found this on their website. I opened my card Sept 06 (NOT after 10/10/06). I also fail to see how gift cards fit into that. I don't see how they can charge me this. She did mention the casino chips, money orders, etc on the phone - but I don't see gift card in that category.

"For accounts opened on or after 10/10/06, the fee for each non-check Cash Advance and Cash Equivalent transaction will be 3% ($10 min) and the fee for each Balance Transfer processed after the introductory period and for each Convenience Check (Check Cash Advance) will be 4% ($10 min, $90 max). Cash Equivalents include the following purchase transactions: wire transfers, person to person money transfers, bets, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, money orders, foreign currency, and travelers checks from a non-financial institution. "

I don't see gift cards listed in the definition of "cash equivalents" so how could you possibly know that???

The rule of contracts is that the person who drafts the contract has the burden of making sure that it includes everything they want included in it. If it doesn't then its their problem, not yours.

I think you have very solid ground for not paying that charge. Good luck!:)
