LOL! Hmmm.... I guess I don't mind TALKING about it....

When the girls were little, I used to always sing them "You are my Sunshine." When Cassie was about 2, she wanted me to start singing it every single night when she went to bed (that was 2005). By 2006, I was calling her "Sunshine" or "Sunny Shiny". When it came time to name, SR, I was trying to think of something that went with the word "rewards" that meant something to me, that people would remember, and that would be easy to come up with a logo for. Sunshine Rewards was born!!

Any other questions? ;)

What prompted you to start Sunshine Rewards? What did you and SG do before?

Aww, that's so cute. I love that song-it remind me of the (long gone) Sunshine the cat we had when I was a baby. He was then immortalized in Sunshine the stuffed cat, who has more air niles logged than many humans on this board (and probably got me to join because of the name). :rotfl::rotfl:

I was an attorney working for LexisNexis. Two Christmases in a row they made me lay off a lot of my employees. By Christmas 2005, I couldn't take it anymore. It was killing me having to fire people with hardly any notice before the holidays and I had a feeling they were just going to keep doing it year after year. I had already had my site Helping Moms Connect up as a "fun" site for about a year. I knew that I could make money online with advertising and figured that if I split the profits with my friends, they would want to shop through my links. I started it on the break between Christmas and New Years. By the time I went to a management conference in February, I knew that it couuld replace my income if I worked hard at it. So I told all of my friends that I would be leaving in the spring. I gave official notice in April and SR became my job as of June 2006.

SG has always been a systems administrator and IT manager. So he works full-time at that but helps me with the programming stuff on evenings and weekends. So he kind of works two jobs. :)

Next? :)

Poor Daisy Doodle departed us last spring break. We had her since we got married, so it was pretty traumatizing. But on the flip side, I REALLY like not having to be responsible for an animal now! So I have a feeling we won't be getting anymore until the girls are old enough to really help out.

How's Kevin doing after being fixed earlier this year?

I actually had the air off yesterday! We had such a nice breeze through the house. SG and I went for some exercise outside tonight and it was not terribly hot considering that it is the middle of July. I still won't run during the afternoon, but I'm liking it!

It was actually a little more recovery than what he thought it was going to be. I think he didn't take it easy like he should have. But all is well. It's still a little sad for me sometimes. But I know it was the right thing.

Funny question. :rotfl:

I found out about SR on a disussion board about "the magical world that we all love" (don't know if I can use the name). Do you know how most of your members find you? How many of us are there?

LOTS of people from the DIS. Initially, ALL of our members came from there through word of mouth. And it's still our biggest source of members. Not sure how many. But over 1/3 of our members mark "Disney" as one of their interests when they sign up.

Yes how many active members??

I think our active members are around 8,000. But we only definite active in our system as people who have logged on in the last year, still have valid email addresses, etc. I don't know how many really participate on a daily basis. A few hundred try for surveys every day. A lot more just shop sporadically and don't really visit the forum.

Tricia,

Is blogging/reward site running something you will teach your girls? Would you encourage them to follow in your footsteps?

Tricia,

I know that they will end up blogging pretty soon just because they are so into what I do. Jillian especially. I'll be happy to show them the ropes and let them try it out. But the best part about blogging is that you can have a site no matter what else you do. So my hope is that they will pursue whatever career interests them and then have some blog sites just for fun or extra money. Then as their careers grow, they can figure out where they want to end up. If I'm lucky, SR will be a billion dollar business by the time they grow up and they can be my vice presidents or something. LOL!

I don't think that I even have a favorite thing. It's just the whole experience. I work from home, which is like a miracle when trying to raise two kids. But I'm also my own boss. That brings a lot of worry in an economy like this. But on the flip side, I'm optimistic enough to keep telling myself that it's going to be alright somehow. So I get the best of all worlds.

So Tricia.....what's your favorite movie?? ;)

Do I have one? I probably have lots. I can tell you some of the movies that I will stop and watch while I'm flipping through channels...even though I already own my own copies! Is that the mark of a favorite? Grease, Batman, and Cocktail come to mind first. Weird, huh?

Not weird at all, I have several (Grease is one of them) that I do that too also. Any of the HP movies, Roadhouse to name a few.

Come on, dying to see the 9999 roll over! lol
