We are planning our next trip for next Sept but was wondering if anyone could please give me there opinion on a Mod resort. At that time my DD will be 5yr and DS will be 3yr. We have already stayed at CBR we liked but wanted to try another resort. We liked the refrigerator in the room and would like that again.

Cindy,

We have stayed at both POFQ and POR. I liked POR okay, but LOVED POFQ. It was smaller and compact and getting around was no problem. POR was nice -- I loved the pool area -- but it was so big that I missed POFQ when it was time to do the bus thing :)

HTH!

Cindy-

We don't have kids, but we've stayed at POFQ twice & LOVED it! This year we stayed at CSR & liked it very much. We stayed at CBR once & didn't care for it. CSR is set up very similarly, but much smaller.

Of the three POFQ is by far our fave. It's very small...only one bus stop! It does share the busses w/POR but FQ is the first to be dropped off & picked up. It's not a very long walk from the furthest building to the main lobby where the food court, bar & gift shop is either. The grounds are beauitful & you can take a boat on the river to downtown Disney which is really nice.

We have stayed at POR. Actually it was our only choice - without staying deluxe - because we are a family of 5. We were pleasantly surprised. It has a horse and carriage ride you can take in the evening for $35 + tip. Very nice ride. It takes you through POR and POFQ.

There is also the boat ride you can take from POR to DTD. You can also take the boat at POFQ. The food court is nice at POR. They also have a nice sit down place which people have raved about. We never went though.

Our room was a bit away from the food court, but it was still only about a 5-6 minute walk. It was a very peaceful walk. I must admit, I LOVE the screaming of Disney like at the values. However, POR was EXTREMELY nice and relaxing.

The quite pools are a nice addition to the resort. We never swam at the main pool - which is pretty fun looking - because it was so busy. But keep in mind that we went during the week of July 4th.

POR is a nice resort. I am sure whichever resort you stay at, you will enjoy it! Good luck and let us know what you decide!

we just stayed at POFQ and I can't see myself staying anywhere else now. We absolutely fell head over heels for this resort - it's gorgeous, the pool looks like it'd be a blast for little ones (it has the sea serpant water slide) and it's small and manageable. We never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus either!

WOW three for POFQ….Thanks for all of your input. I appreciate and it and love the pictures…Magical JenK. I know we have a while but I was kind of leaning towards CSR before I read all these. My DH might like the smaller/compact resort. We will be renting a car so we don’t have to worry about any bus issue…much to think about and plan…fun.

You're welcome! I took a lot of photos when we were there because 1) I love photos & 2) it's just a beautiful resort! I think I took better/more the first year...I'll look for those if you'd like.

I have photos of CSR if you're interested as well. Just took those on this trip. Again, we really liked it & would return, but LOVED POFQ!!

Planning is half the fun of the vacation if you ask me!! Have fun planning!!

I would love to see any additional photos that you have for both POFQ and CSR. Thank you. I would really love to stay at WL but thinks it’s a little too pricey for us. I should have stayed there last year when our trip was free.

The pool slide & when leaving the pool area there are those cute figures. I love the trees! There are little "streets" all over the resorts that have street signs. I thought it was funny to take the photo of the street but w/the golf cart to show that it's not a real street.

Couple more of the streets. You can walk through the streets & there are some fountains, gardens & some gates that make it look like another section of the city. I just loved my morning walks through POFQ to POR!

Here are some from the room. This was a king size bed room w/a river view. It was a corner room, so we had two windows. It was very nice.
I love this resort!

Here are some photos from my morning walks. CSR is a very nice & peaceful resort. Much larger than POFQ, but not too large in my opinion. (Please note: we don't have kids, so depending on where your room is, it may or may not be a long walk to/from the bus stop.)

We weren't able to book a king bed at CSR, so we had two doubles. I did like the two sinks at POFQ & they had shelves that worked out well compared to CSR, which just had one sink & a very large counter. But I still had to make more room w/a suitcase, towel & suitcase holder in the corner...mostly because I use a lot of products I think!! :0)

Honestly, we very much enjoyed our stay at CSR....probably more than we were expecting to. DH used the workout gym quite a bit (which was very close to our room) & the quiet pool right outside our door was very nice for early morning swims which I had the pool all to myself.

Good luck with your choice! There are some really great photos of both resorts at allearsnet.com if you haven't seen those yet too!!

Thank you so much for all the pictures. This makes me wish I wash there now…instead of next Sept. I can totally see my kids wanting to play in the fountains and I love the pool at POFQ…the kids will love it.

I really appreciate it…now I have a couple of questions.

Did both resorts have refrigerators in there?
Do both have a gym or is it just CSR?
What section is the best to stay at for both of the resorts? (Bus location will not be an issue because we will be renting a car.)
At CSR do they have different section of the resorts or buildings with different themes?

What section is the best to stay at for both of the resorts? (Bus location will not be an issue because we will be renting a car.)Hard to say. POFQ doesn't have sections, they just have buildings. Everything is close if you ask me. CSR really depends on what you're looking for. Close to main pool or lobby?
At CSR do they have different section of the resorts or buildings with different themes?[/QUOTE]Yes, there is the Cabanas, Casitas, & Ranchos. You can request a section but know that it's not promised.

Thank you MagicalJen...:thanks:

I like different things at the two different resorts. I like having a gym at the resort but will I actually use it being on vacation. I like the idea of the boat ride to DTD. Hum...decisions decisions. I guess I will have to see which one is available when we make our reservations.

We have stayed at all the mods at one time or another. For us, POR or POFQ worked best. We found, for us, CSR and CBR too spread out with a young child- DD was 6 and then 8 when we stayed there. POR is spread out but we were in bldg 14- Alligator Bayou and it was the closest to the food court and bus stop. The only thing I dislike is the bus stop situation- too many stops and no method of keeping everyone in a fair line to get on. That's what I dislike about the deluxes too but, it is not that big of a deal to make me stop going to Disney. I am one of the ones who enjoys all levels of Disney resorts- they each have their pluses (and minuses). Good luck with your decision and have a great time planning your trip.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents. We stayed at CSR this past December and my parents were convinced that they were not going to enjoy the resort. We have always stayed at POR and there was no rooms available. To make a long story short, my parents loved CSR and booked it again for this December (wish I was going this year). The fountains and paths are very scenic and it makes a great romantic evening stroll. Have fun planning your trip.

We stayed at POR last week and we had a car. We stayed in the Magnolia Bend section in the Oak something building and our parking spot was literally right down the walkway from our room. We LOVED it. We were in room 9088 if that helps. Our room was right next to the pool, although we didn't use it this time. The rooms were very nice and roomy. I love the two sinks. We were able to walk to the food court by walking over the little bridge which was in front of our building. We were away from the hustle and bustle of the resort so it was nice and quiet. LOVED Riverside and would stay there again in a heartbeat! Keep in mind though that we didn't need to use the Disney Transportation so I have no idea how close the bus stops were to our room but if you are taking your own car we had our own little parking lot on one side of our building and it was never crowded.

Another POFQ fan here  We have stayed at CSR and liked it a great deal, though we did find it rather large and spread out. There are so many wonderful things about POFQ, as others have said, but it's small size and quaint charm make it a real winner. The pool is terrific and I think any kid would absolutely love it. We had a river view and really enjoyed taking the boat to DTD to shop, eat and stroll around.

Haven't read all the posts, but we LOVE POFQ. It is smaller than the rest of the resorts, and is simply beautiful!! We loved being right on the river! Also the bus picks up first in the AM and drops off first in the PM, so a win, win there!!

Just made our reservations for May 22nd to May 31st. So excited, I can't stand it. We will be staying at POFQ, first time. The girls just look at me and say Wow!! (You would have to hear DD9's deadpan Wow, to really appreciate their sarcasm) 7 months, long time. They just shook their heads and walked away. They think their mom is nuts. :rotfl: I am...about the Mouse.

HEres my 2 cents , I vote POFQ the pool is just perfect for the kids! The other added feature is you can use both Port Orleans Riverside ammenties as well! Just a boatride away. You can also take the boat to downtown as well. The French quarter is a smaller reosrt but we liked that about it too.

PErsonally I appreciated the magic of the singing bushes in French quarter down by the pool!

Have a great time and good luck with your picks and you can always check out the resorts for your NEXT TRIP!!!!
