I agree, Jen!

Funny, though... Wishes is at 6:30 the first night of our January trip and I am looking outside at this very moment seeing the sun setting quickly, thinking how in hour when Wishes will be, it will be dark. LOL!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not ready! My winter boots are at work...I guess I should bring them home just in case huh?!

I didn't get my car washed today because it's supposed to rain tomorrow, so I thought I'd wait until Tuesday...but snow?! NOOOO! I hate that thought! WAY too early! LONG, LONG, LONG winters are not my friend.

Tell me about it, I commute 45 miles each way to work, so the winters really drag on me!! I am not ready at all...though I had to get new tires for my car (along with brake pads, roters and a barring) so at least I SHOULD stay on the road.

We took my DDs out on Tuesday and got them jackets, snowpants, hats and mittens, it was like 70 at 7pm...then Halloween hit and it was COLD...I hate Minnesota!

As hard as it was last winter not having snow for Christmas, I could seriously do without. I kinda get sick of hybernating. I pretty much finished up on my Christmas shopping today, so then I will just stay home on the weekends.

At least with the first few snows they won't stick...but it is still too soon.

That is SOOOO early...we were there in October and having the parks close at 9 was just unnerving...drove me nuts. I cannot imagine the parks closing at 8 like they do in January, seems like you lose the better part of your day.

Ouch! That's a long commute! But I'm glad you got all new things for your car! Never want to be stranded in the middle of the winter anywhere!! What is the worst about this time of year, wake up & it's dark, go to work (no windows) & come home & it's dark!

Funny! I was just going to say, I LOVED last year when there was no snow until the middle of January & then it's my busiest month at work so February goes VERY fast & then before you know it it's March & almost spring!!

I could easily do that same thing this year!

The dark thing bugs me...you can see how people have "issues" with it!! :rotfl:

It was an adjustment last year, one of the gals at my office blames it on global warming and all of that...I just laugh and love it because it saves me time in the car. The most of the snowstorms we got last year were on weekends so that helped.

What do you do for a living?

Well there's a pro to global warming then right?! :p Less winter in MN! he he he!! No flames please! I saw the Al Gore movie & I did cry when I saw the animated polar bear on the ice berg!!:( I just hate winters in MN!!

I guess I should really love living in CA!!! I know we really don't have winters, but we have our version of cold:D I love the time change and the cold!!! But, I don't deal with the snow (unless we drive to Tahoe:D)

Good company to work for! I work for Berger Allied Van Lines in Roseville. I need to get something closer to home, but it is hard to leave, I get all the flexibility that I want and with two little ones at home that is huge. But I am thinking that after the first of the year I will start the search.

Oh yes, very nice! I suppose you don't go against traffic either do you? Neither do I. It takes me about 1 hr door-to-door when I bus it, but I sleep, so it's a good nap!

I'm sure I've seen it...is it back by that Color Tile on B2 & Fairview?? I grew up in Maplewood, which isn't far from Roseville, so we were always going to Rosedale & I worked over there for awhile...DH was actually a cop there for a couple years too.

Small world! Well, when I'm bussing to Mpls tomorrow I'll wave!! :0)

Traffic isn't bad, even though it is 45 miles it only takes about 55 minutes, in the snow a little longer, so it could be worse. I have lots of alternative routes that I can take if need be.

I have thought that having a job that I could bus to would be so nice...save all that wear and tear on a car...my poor Alero is a 2001 and has 135k on it. But knock on wood we have had very little problems outside of normal stuff.

Berger is actually more off of 35W over by the car dealerships and the MN lottery office.

We lived in Roseville right across the highway from Rosedale, loved it but the housing prices there were just too much and I wanted to be closer to my dad.

Is your DH still a cop?

I know what you mean about house prices. When we were looking 7 years ago, starter homes were going in 1 day or less & were over what we could pay. So we ended up going "north" of the Cities...not far, just north of White Bear. But now...my goodness..you couldn't sell a house in a month if you tried!

We're thinking of selling next year, but lord knows how long it will take & what we'll end up getting for our house. Only good thing is after we sell our house there will be PLENTY of houses to choose from! So many for sale! That's so nice that you moved closer to your dad too! I bet he appreciates it!!

Yes, DH is still a cop, just now in St Paul.

And as far as bonding time on snowy days...don't get me wrong...I still hope/pray/wish for a snow day like a 10 yr old!! Some things just never change!! :p

Sorry Magical JenK, but let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

In Houston, we are lucky if we have sweater weather, so praying for snow comes natural for us!

I live in Oregon where it rains and does not snow. We pray for snow. beg for snow. We do try to drive to the snow every other weekend or so. We are only about 45 minutes from the snow so it's not bad. BUT when you have good pictures please share.

Maybe you pray for snow but this Houstonian does not! When I moved to Houston I actually moved farther south than where I came from (Baton Rouge). I actually vowed never to move north of I-10 since it snows in north LA sometimes. I hate hate hate cold/winter/snow.

Sorry about the darkness already Jen. Its so depressing.

I also hate the winter time. I hate being cold. I hate the darkness. I hate having to bundle up all the times. I hate the dreariness. However, I do like a good snow, preferably before Christmas. But we hardly get much snow in December here in Ohio. It is suppose to flurry tomorrow though. But AFTER Christmas, I am ready for the summer again. Enough is enough.

I guess if it going to be cold, then let the snow begin. To be cold and not have a purpose? Yuck....

I keep saying "where is that global warming that they keep talking about???" I know, I know. I don't really want anything happening to our planet, such as species dying and all. But, I could use some warmer weather here in Ohio!

And let me tell you, by 7:00 last night, I was already tired! It had been dark for about an hour or more....that is just so depressing....

I LOVE Texas! I'd move there in a heartbeat! I was in Houston 2 years ago in October (went to the Texas state fair) & thought...hey, I could get used to this!! I should really go visit my friend again so I could at least enjoy the not-to-often sweater weather!! :p

I did my move to CA from the Twin Cities. I really did love St. Paul/MSP, but the winters were so bitter cold. I was doing graduate work at St. Thomas College (before it became a university) and was living on Summit Ave. Oh, man, I WOULD head back there if it wasn't so darn cold! Not as much snow as the U.P. but soooooooooooooooooo cold.

Michael-

You're a Tommy! I'm a Katie!! Fun! And the Higland Park area...yeah, I wish we could live there someday, but most likely that will NEVER happen! I love looking at the homes on Summit! WOW!! What was your graduate work in?

Housing sure has changed in Minnesota. I hope that it turns around soon...you just never know, but you knew that the bubble had to eventually burst.

Small world...I went to St Thomas too!! Beautiful school...and so is St. Kates.

Summit Avenue is so nice...I would love to live in one of those old houses, but man the prices...and having the hustle and bustle of the schools might drive me nuts! And now with that nice new $60MILLION donation they got I am sure the expansion they have wanted will take out more homes over there.

I was taking philosophy and theology courses (this was back in '83 - so now you KNOW I'm dating myself!!). Then I started butting heads with the rector over at SJV - we REALLY didn't get along! I LOVED the architecture over at St. Catherine's.
The one fun thing about St. T's was that in the winter you never had to venture outside if you didn't want to. Those underground tunnels were wonderful!
I was quite involved with the church music program at T's. It has always been one of my first loves and the right people are right there in the Twin Cities. THAT I miss terribly....

But the weather was a balmy 80 today... I think it's only going to get to 75 or so tomorrow. Sigh................
