My mother sent me a "just because" gift. It is a $100 visa gift card. Now I
have read in the forum that we cannot post about these so mods feel free
to delete this post if necessary. However, I have a couple questions and I
want to make sure I understand how things work here.

1. Can we or can we not use these for shopping? If it is a problem to use
I just won't use it on SR. I don't want anyone to get into trouble.

2. If we cannot use them, can you explain the reasoning?

Again, feel free to delete if necessary and just PM me.

You can use them for shopping/one time transactions. What you cannot use them for is paid trials for various reasons by both SR and the advertisers.

Shopping is fine although I have had merchants say my card was declined before for no reason. I would go ahead and try it out for anything that you want to buy.

We are not allowed to use these for the paid offers that are listed on SR because the Advertisers consider it fraud.

You are good to go for some shopping though!
