Well Disney has done it again! They've made a fanatastic movie with awesome graphics, great story and an excellent cast!
I was able to get 2 passes for the preview of the movie tonight through my subscription of EW. DS 8 and I went to see it. We both absolutely loved it! I'm not sure my girls are old enough to see it, maybe DD 5.5 but then again DD 4.5 doesn't let too much bother her. They did a great job with the "wars" as DS called them in not showing to much gore at all. I thought it was very tastefully done! If your thinking about going to see a movie this weekend, THIS IS IT!
There weren't many kids there overall, maybe bc of the time, school night and the special preview. Mainly adults and the theatre was packed. We got there a half hour early (since seating is 1st come) and it was already crowded, thankfully we snagged two seats in the middle. They also had a lot of one liners in there for the adults to enjoy. Overall I give it an A.

This is on our must see list. To bad so many good movies are coming out right now to compete with it but I know it will have quite a following. CANNOT WAIT! My DD6 wants to see it and we told her this one looks too dark for her age and she will need to wait. Is that not true? She would love to go!

well without giving to much away some of the characters can look a little scary, really only 2 I can think of and you see them for a short time. It's a lot of sword fighting through out the movie (battles and individual) but again they don't last long and they don't show much IMHO. Funny my son kept saying but mom it's PG -13 I'm not supposed to see it, I said well do you WANT to? He said of course! When we left I asked him if he felt anything was too much and he said no. Of course he'll be 9 in a few weeks.
I think my DD 5.5 (will be 6 in Sept) would/could watch it bc she could relate to Lucy and the other stuff wouldn't bother her (then again I've let all three see the first 3 Harry Potter movies and the dementors in 3 can be kinda scary). If I had the option to take another child I probably would have taken her based on her personality. Since it was only for 2 people it made it an easy decision.
You would know best if she would be ok with that type, I will say I didn't see much difference in the way it was done from the first one? The only other thing I can think of (that's different from #1) is there's a birth in beginning and a woman hollering through labor, but since it was Disney it was tastefully done and DS didn't seemed phazed by it.

Update, DS must have been confusing Indiana Jones with Narnia on the ratings, he thought PG-13 and I didn't think twice about it. Until I was at the YMCA this morning and watching the news and it said PG. Oops! :) I know we all want to see Indiana Jones also.

Thanks for the review, April. We have 4 absolutely must-see movies this summer: Narnia, Indiana Jones, Speed Racer, and Get Smart. Decisions, decisions... lol!

SOOOO looking forward to seeing this movie! Not sure we will see it in the theatre (of course I really want to - but trying to keep spending down). We may wait until it is in the cheap theater.....we might be able to do matinee on the weekends.
I would imagine the movie theater would be WAY better than just watching it on DVD at home....

I'll say Angela, some of the scenes were definitely made for the big screen! Especially at the end...

Thanks for the review. The preview looks fantastic! We usually wait a couple of weeks or so, so it isn't so busy. I hope I will be able to see it.
I am glad you enjoyed it....sounded like a great night out!

OKay so we went to the movie today after we picked DD6 from kindergarten. The theater was pretty empty. We had gone back and forth about taking our kids but we saw it was PG and thought we would try it. I think the previews were scarier then the movie. There was a part that made even me jump but the kids seemed fine. :) I do have to say that the movie is a bit long for smaller kids. My DS was getting antsy towards the end.
I liked the first one more. This one was good but it is more battles. I have read the books so that was no surprise but I like how the first one has more animal interecation and the kids interact more. I think that is why my kids love the first one. DD6 was confused in the beginning of why the prince was being chased. :)
I also think that the first one very closely followed the book. This one strayed a bit. Still got the main message but just didn't follow as close.
I would write more but husband wants dinner!

I agree with you Dee on all accounts. I was just afraid to type to much to give anything away.
Yes a bit long but for Ds 8.5 and I it was fine. I agree about more battles vs more interaction, but I think it would have felt like it was too much like the first one if they did. I really liked the "water" battle at the end. The special effects were just awesome! Of course Prince Caspian wasn't to hard on the eyes either.....
