"Your DH is working the RNC, what are you going to do now?"

We're going to Disney World!! :p Shhhhh...it's a surprise! I can't believe it! I really can't, but it's true! Even though the RNC runs through Thursday, it's already proving itself to be quite the event for St Paul Police Department! After toying the idea around in my head last week, I'm happy to report today it's all booked & official!

I have ligrumpygirl to thank HUGE (w/apparently liquor) :thanks::cheers:as she was the one who put me in contact w/someone to rent DVC points from! We're staying at SSR for less than the AP rate for POFQ! I can't believe it!! :cooldance: Thanks Janet!! You rock!!

I'm so glad I decided to do this! He's going to be sooooo surprised & sooooo in need of some magic after this week! :wizard:I'm debating telling him next week on our anniversary, or closer to the actual date we're going (Oct 2nd). Heck...after I booked the airfare I was on the phone w/him & he was going on & on & on about yesterday (nails, feces, sandbags, dumpsters--yeah all thrown at the cops at some point) & I just wanted to scream WE'REGOINGTODISNEYWORLD! But I didn't!

What I would LOVE to do is surprise him the morning we leave, but just not sure if that's possible...but I'm going to try. He does need to take a few days off of work, but that won't be a problem at all!

Booked some ADRs, but of course I'm already thinking of changing them! Except Cali Grill. Got that one & keeping it for sure! Just need to get APs & then be on our magical way!!

Oh how exciting Jen!!! We will be there the 15th so we'll just miss you:(

Jen, I am so excited for you. Your DH sounds a lot like mine. He actually runs around the house like a little kid when I tell him I'm planning a trip. You are going to have so much fun!

What I'm calling "Operation RNC Recovery" is a GO! I suggested to DH this morning that instead of exchanging gifts for our anniversary we should just go away one weekend. He IMMEDIATELY agreed (knew I would have NO problem w/that)! He suggested staying at a local casino...yeah, sure I'll look into that NO PROBLEM!! :angel:

Now, I just have to convince him to take the Wed before off so he doesn't get a late call. I've decided I'm going to try to hold off until the morning we leave. Unfortunately, our flight is at 7am. Soooo....not only am I going to have to get him up super early to surprise him w/the trip, he will have to pack. I can get most of the items done & we won't need much since we're there just for the weekend. He's kinda like a girl when it comes to getting the "right" clothes! I don't want to pack him things he doesn't like, doesn't think they fit, etc.

Oh & I was thinking this morning that maybe I'll set the clocks ahead so he goes to bed earlier that night!! :rotfl: Not sure how that will work, but maybe...:D

Oh this sounds like so much fun Jen. Is there any way you can take the Wed night off for him without his knowing?

I thought about that, only problem is how would I not tell him to go in at 3pm w/o telling him why, you know??

I think I could convince him to take the entire week off because as it is, he would have Sun & Mon off...so if he takes off Thurs-Sat, I could say "oh why bother going in for 2 days...have a mini vacation!" ;)

Hmm maybe his boss could tell him he's over on his vacation hours so he is giving him Wednesday off too?

Our HR department has been on our cases and have started forcing vacation if we haven't taken enough. Maybe they could do the same for you??

Cate!! Thank you!! Thank you for the idea of this! I just got off the phone w/DH's ex-partner & she's totally going to talk to DH's boss & tell him to 1) make something up so his schedule on Wed (night before we leave) is only until 10pm & 2) that DH will be off the rest of the week!! :rotfl:

I totally trust her & she said that his boss is pretty laid back & will be able to keep this from Steve no problem! Woo hoo!! She's going to call me back to just confirm, but how exciting to think I'll be able to get him up, tell him we're going to Disney & then tell him that I've already gotten his days off for him!!

I think that is GREAT! I would love to do that and for it to fall into place like this for you is wonderful!

I'm telling him tonight! :cool: We leave tomorrow morning. I've checked us in for our flight, but I still have so much to do yet. His boss was smart enough to change his hours both yesterday & today so he'll probably be home around 10pm tonight so I'll have some time to get things ready.

I'm only packing some items for him, he'll have to do some packing when he finds out...after the inital shock & then subsequent fear of flying wears off :eek: (ooh wait, that won't)...I have cleaned most of the house as my parents are staying at our house w/the animals. I gave them my Dog Manual last week & they came by for a quiz!! Since then Doc has been put on meds & a bland diet so I have to quickly write up an amendment today! :p

But I still have some shopping to do (food for the parents), stuff for the trip, want to get a mani/pedi (but just not thinking that's going to happen :cry:), vacuum & sweep/clean the floors, write the Dog Amendment, bathe the dogs, get all the paperwork together, last minute laundry & oh yeah pack....

Plus, I'm super busy at work, but I still want to leave rather early....and the worst part of it all....my computer at home is broken & I won't be able to tell you guys how it went!! I'll probably have to text someone & have them post it!!

Ok, well I'm going to try to get a lot done this morning so I can get a mani/pedi at lunch! Wish me luck tonight...still not sure how he's going to take the flying but I have his favorite liquor handy!!

Oh & crud, just remembered I have to get the item ready for his "clue"...nothing special, but he made a comment on how he was sad that he didn't have any Axe body spray & he would have had we gone to Disney this month like we normally do because he would have gotten some when we go to Target. So I picked him up some Axe body spray & I'm going to have a note that says, "Since we're not going to have time to go to Target this trip, I thought I'd pick you up some Axe now." See if he gets it!

Oh sounds like fun Jen! I might hold off on that pedi though because my feet were torn up by all the walking and had I had everything buffed and scrubbed off it would have been worse! Have the pedi after is my vote :)

Doc had eye surgery two weeks ago (I don't think I posted about it though). It was unexpected & I decided to have him neutered at the same time. After the surgeries he was getting sick & had VERY loose stools. The vet thinks he got some sort of stomach virus so they put him on some meds for a week & the bland diet. He LOVES the bland diet! It's so funny!

But that's not in my Dog Manual, so I must tell them about it. My parents are so funny...they have cats, so she's worried but excited at the same time to take care of the boys. I think it helps that they are so sweet & well behaved...and well, cute! Ha! Doc & Howie even sent Grampa & Grama some treats for taking care of them from Popcorn Factory! :rotfl:
