Default NEED HELP, 6yr old boy books

I am buying a gift for a 6 year old boy who wants books. I do not know what boys this age like to read. I want to get a few learn to read books and need some advice on what your sons read and like.
    Thanks

When my son was that age, he loved the Nate the Great series about a little boy detective, his dog, friends and family.

Horrible Harry were also a big hit OR Captain Underpants. they may be potty humor in some but hte boys just abolutely love them, they have a lot of pictures and I'm of the theory Hey, whatever it takes for them to read, then so be it!!!

A to Z Mysteries are a good series for boys. I second Magic Tree House. Bailey School Kids is another good series. HTH.

Gosh, my 5 and 6 year olds (I have a 6 year old boy now, my older son is almost 10) are JUST starting to learn to read. For them, the Magic Treehouse would be too advanced- I always thought of that as more of 2nd grade reading, maybe late first grade.

Anyway, my 6 year old loves the Eric Carle books- mostly picture books, but with easy sentences to pick out and read. My son loves to 'read' me Brown Bear, Polar Bear, etc. He also is starting to pick up on the Dr. Seuss books- they are good early reading books as they are very repetitive.
