Default Guess what I got to do yesterday??

I got to spend the day helping take care of 15 hour old bulldog puppies! I was supposed to be there for the c-section, but they took the puppies a day earlier than planned. They're so ugly they're cute!! Momma & pups are all doing well!

3 boys & 3 girls! They're just so tiny! Range from 10.4 to 13.0 oz yesterday.

Oh how cute! I remember when my "weiner dog" was born. I was only 7 but I remember how tiny they were.

Yes...too wide head & shoulders. Pups get stuck & the mom & pups could die. What I'm finding out is that the bulldog has been manipulated so much by humans that many "natural" things aren't so natural anymore. I even heard they can't physically mate...but not sure about that...I've seen some very...err...limber bullies!! Most bullies are done via AI....had the opportunity to see that too...I'm learning OH SO MUCH!!

Was able to finally get home and get in a quickie

And, everywhere I go, tonight, people are snapping and beating or banging or something and I am lost.

Oh, I would love to see them and the c-section, too. I go to people ones all the time but I have never seen a dog or cat born and by csection would be so cool. I always tell people I have the cutest patients but I think I probably have to share that comment with vets. A baby is a baby, no matter what. Unless, of course, it is a spider (thinking about the spider birthing, earlier this week - )

Well, theres a little difference in the human baby ones and the dog ones. We would need to have quite a few techs on hand for c-sections. One to help the vet during the procedure, then we would line up with our warm towels, grab the pup, break open the sack, tie off the cord and shake the heck out of them, get them very warm and rub till they breathe. It can be very intense, especially if there is a big litter or very small pups.

And yes, bulldogs often need help doing the deed.
