ING Direct sold to Capital One

I just checked out Capital One online and they actually pay a higher rate than ING and no fee's too. I just don't know what to do at this point, I might just wait it out and see what happens after the merger? Confused for sure but I also don't want to panic like many people are...they are both FDIC, so the funds are secure.

I have been reading online today like you were before. I haven't read anything real positive so I'm starting to feel like maybe a move would be good. I might do a half and half split and see how it goes. Whichever one I like better will be the one I stick with after the sale is finalized. It's all just one big PITA.

I agree, I'm moving half of it and then see what happens..just not sure where to move it to?

They do close out department store cards for not using them but my Capital One card they never closed, I suspect because it has a very high credit limit on it and they hope I will use it at some point? Yeah, Capital One did that to me also. After I requested they close it they said that it will remain open until my anniversary date comes around. I guess they were hoping that I used them in the meantime, but I didn't.

But yes the high credit limit does help with your credit score. We use Bank of America as our main CC. We are much happier with then. They at least have great Customer Serivce. I've read some pretty bad reviews about BA but so far we haven't had any complaints.

We will probably move our money to our credit union and be done. I know that I definitely can't and won't deal with Cap One.

I got the email and I'm not sure what to do about it...keep it or take my money and run.....all I know is I hate Capital One, I've dealt with them before and their customer service is the worst, IMO!

I've been with Ally for about 6 months and so far I've been happy and haven't had issues. I am keeping a 0 balance in my ING Direct account just because you never know if you might need it.

Have you had to contact them about anything...just wondering how their customer service is.....I have dealt with Capital One in the past and they were really bad. I have been thinking of opening a new account but have put it off.

I have not which I find a positive. The joy about online banking is not having to deal with people. Heather has been using them too longer than I. Maybe she has experience with their CS.
