Default Pittsburgh

SG surprised me and got us some awesome tickets for the Steelers game in two weeks. I'm a HUGE fan and have never been to Heinz Field!! As it turns out, the new guy who works for Kevin's wife is the daughter of the offensive coordinator. Crazy! So he got us tickets.

Now, here are my questions:

1) Is anyone else going to the game on the 11th?
2) I want to use Hilton Honors points to stay somewhere the night before and it looks like it might be a good idea to stay in Eastern Ohio to make our drive Saturday a little shorter. Anyone have any thoughts on Steubenville? There's also a Hampton in Washington, PA that looks to be directly in our path to Pittsburgh.
3) Any suggestions for where to park before the game? I kind of would like to take the Gateway Clipper, but it's not a must.

I'm so excited. It's only a quick 36 hour trip, but I can't wait to see my black and gold!!!

WOOT! Tricia, Have a wonderful quick trip to the game... See SG knew you would need a mini vacation after your Disney trip.... I hope the Steelers win unless they are playing NYG... LOL....

Well, I would vote for the Hampton in Washington vs. Steubenville. I just stayed there in March when we opened the new Ross and it was nice. I haven't been in Steubenville in a few years but I just didn't like it. Traffic/construction is really bad on 79 near Washington and up to 279 (Parkway West). It was down to one lane in both directions last week but I keep an eye on the reports and let you know. DD is going to the game with my dad- maybe I can con him out of his seat (especially since he is a Browns fan). There are also some nice hotels at the meadowlands near Washington and they just opened the casino (slot parlor) there too. let me know if you need any more info.

Definately Washington as opposed to Steubenville (ugh, sorry). Tricia probably doesn't remember staying in Washington when she was little, about 2 years old probably, maybe three. Drive carefully thre though, the state police patrol that area very heavily.

Tricia, I agree with your Mom in that I would rather stay in Washington - much safer and more choices of restaurants. I wish that we were going to the game on the 11th so that we could meet up. As far as parking - you have several different choices.

Choice 1 -Park at Station Square and ride the Gateway Clipper over to the stadium. Pro - much easier to get in and get out of tha if you park at the stadium. Con - takes much more time to get to your car. We went to a game a couple of weeks ago and my parents parked at Station Square and we parked in town and walked. We left at the same time - we had to walk across the Roberto Clemente Bridge and to our car, my parents walked down and got on the boat and waited and waited and waited. We stopped for gas and was home sitting in our house and my parents were only 1/2 way home.

Choice 2 - Park in town and walk - Most garages offer a special rate of $5 to park on game day. You can walk across the Roberto Clemente bridge and pass PNC Park and down to Heinz Field. Long walk.

Choice 3 - Park in a stadium lot. If you plan to park there make sure you are there as soon as they open the lots. They get sold out really quick.

Hope you enjoy Heinz Field. I still miss Three Rivers and most of my friends still prefer Three Rivers to Heinz Field.

Where are your seats? If you are on the Steeler side the sun will be at you back about 1/2 way through the game. If you are on the visitors side, you will be looking into the sun for almost the whole game - make sure you have your sunglasses.

Hope you have a great trip! If you have any other questions, please pm and I will try to answer them.

Or, park up in Mt. Washington and take the incline if you want to ride that. It takes longer too, but is fun.

Tricia, How was your trip? You saw one great game. Glad the Steelers won! How do you like Heinz Field? Did you do anything else fun while you were here?
