Any ideas or suggestions? ![]() |

For my husbands 60th Birthday, I rented a limo. We had it for four hours so I made reservations at a swanky restaurant for dinner, after dinner we went to another nice restaurant for an after dinner cocktail and listen to a guitar player that happened to be there....he was very shocked and surprised! Nothing like parking this limo in front of this high class restaurant with people standing around wondering who the celebrity getting out was going to be....LOL!

![]() I do know I want to have a party/dinner. I was thinkg of something like a "Blast from the Past" theme. I'm blessed to have quite a few of pictures of him as a boy so I would definitely like to use them somehow. I have to get busy because I may have to move it to the last Saturday in March due to his BD being so close to Easter weekend. DH and DD's birthday is the same day: April 5th! I always told him that she was his present for life. lol. When is your husband's bd? |

You can use a surprise party for any big birthday!
A former manager of mine had a surprise 30th birthday party at a restaurant several years back, with most, if not all, of the store coming out for that. For my grandma's 80th birthday, we did a surprise party. She knew we were going to a cookout at my aunt & uncle's, but didn't know it was her birthday party until she got there. They had invited a few former friends/neighbors from waaaaaaaaaaay back when for that. We did a surprise 25th anniversary party for my parents too. Again, cookout at my aunt and uncle's but they didn't know about the party till they got there. One of my mom's brothers was able to come (Dad's side was hosting the gig), as well as two of her friends. I think the best part of all was seeing my dad's reaction to a really old friend he hadn't seen in at least 15 years! I got a sheet of foam board and covered that with some fabric and decorated that with a bunch of pictures of them too. How about a scrapbook of some kind for him? Your DH is probably glad DD has the same birthday! My mom and brother share one too and she claims that the fact that it's also Mike's birthday prevents us from doing anything horrible to her! |

We even said we should do this at least once per year, just for the heck of it....but that hasn't happened yet. ![]() |

LOL. Well, I think a surprise is out because I've been talking to him about it already.
It's too hard trying to surprise folks around. LOL. I told him I wanted to do something special. Of course, he does'nt care what it is one way or the other. I was thinking about a 70's costumed theme party. A "Soul Train" party came to mind. Of course, there is always the traditional Backyard BBQ and or a reserved restaurant. mmm611- I already made him a scrapbook of his family and of him growing up. So I could definitely use that. Pam- I think that would be nice once a year. ![]() |

Is there something he has always wanted to do? For my dad, it was driving a Jag. We found a rental place for high end cars and got him one for the day. He was beyond thrilled. Is there something sort of bucket listish that you can do for him that he might not do for himself?

Lisa try Space City Limos. I think that is who Mike and I used for the wedding. They weren't too outrageous. $400 for 5 or 6 hours.
There are also a few companies in town that will drive you around in a Rolls. I think it is $600 for 3 hours but I can't remember. Maybe the kids can chip in on that one. Our friends went with this option for their wedding since they just needed a drive home from the reception to their apartment. |

LOL. I'm sorry. I worded my original question wrong.
I'm having a party for him and didn't want the traditional party. I was looking for some different ideas for a PARTY! Although all your suggestions are great just need some different kind. LOL. |

I don't know how different you want to go, but I would think of something that is "fabulous 50s" like renting out a bowling alley and doing bowling, hotdogs, soda, etc. Or doing a sock-hop type party. We have also done the parties where you focus on the year the person was born and do a compilation of the top 20 songs, the new foods that came out that year, have old posters of advertisements/newspapers, etc. Have fun! ![]()
