Default Crazy weather in TX

Well... we always have crazy weather! 80 degrees one day and 6 inches of snow 2 days later! Around midnight we had strong storms/ wind that knocked the power out for about 4 hours. About an hour into the storms we got a massive amount of golf ball sized hail. The whole back of our house is practically windows- (I think something like 16 windows) and the hail was just pelting the house sooooo hard. I thought for sure it was going to bust a window! The backyard was almost covered in hail. It's crazy. It started up raining again and they are predicting more of the same tonight- storms with strong winds/ hail. April and May are the likeliest times for tornados in Texas and they usually occur in the afternoon/ evening. And of course we don't have basements here either! Anyone else in TX going through this crazy weather??

(oh and I hate having to reset all of the many clocks after a power outage!)

Some of the clocks are still wrong and confusing me! lol

I was in the middle of downtown when we got hit with a tornado a few years ago and one experience is plenty for me! Hopefully tonight will be fine. The weather guy was saying we may be in for a "historic tornado season" whatever that means.

So far we are ok down here in South Texas. Sorry you are getting pelted by hail. I would be freaked out with that many windows as well.

Yep. Crazy here too. We've been in shorts and running the air the last few days though. Storms are supposed to hit us tomorrow afternoon/evening I think. Wind is kicking outside right now though, I'm watching the limbs go crazy on my big oak tree out the window behind the computer.

Luckily I only have one electronic clock in the house that I set so I don't go too crazy with the power outages.

Historic tornado season, huh? I hope he's wrong. I've lived through a few and it's always tramautic.

Yeah, definitely hope he's wrong about that. Maybe he's overreacting!
The hail was a little scary but I don't think we had any damage- hope not. It was just soooo loud hitting the windows! I'm sure I'm a little more skittish after my experience a few years ago. And you know, they (not sure who, have just heard it a lot. lol) say tornados don't usually cross rivers or hit in downtown areas and both happened that time. Weather in TX can be very unpredictable (as well as VERY hot and humid!)

I guess the upside is that the lawn is benefitting from the rain and the temperature/ humidity isn't bad so the A/C hasn't been on much.

I understand. When I was 14 I was babysitting in a older style "cheap" trailer and a tornado came through and it was just me and those little ones - that was really bad. We've had a few more, but that is my scariest memory. I live in an area of our county that has been hit numerous times during my life so I always get a little nervous.

tell me about the lawn....mine looks like a jungle! I love to mow in the summer, but hate trying to find a time to squeeze it in during the school year.

It's heading this way tonight for St Louis area. Supposed to get severe storms and 4 inches of rain tonight/tomorrow. Just what we need after all the flooding.
Stay safe

That is just wierd nasty weather - sounds like Nebraska can be sometimes!! But this just seems quite extreme, even so. Glad you didn't have a window busted; hope it's not any worse tonight with the storms.

We aren't experiencing any of that here in Houston, and hopefully we won't! Hope you all make it through safely!
