I just want to thank Janet for her online book club. I would never have started Twilight if not for her book club. It just didn't seem like something that I would read. But I decided to be a good sport and give it a shot.

I'm addicted!! It's like I am personally mesmerized as much as the main character (those of you reading it know what I am talking about). I've read almost half of the book in 24 hours and I refuse to make dinner tonight because it would cut into my precious reading time (Hello, Subway).

Thanks for opening my mind to a new genre. It is invigorating!!

If any of you are readers and are not doing the book club yet, you absolutely have to get on the ship!!

I know exactly what you mean. It was a stretch for me to start this series also. I have always been an Anne Rice fan and it almost felt like a betrayal lol. I love this series really. I can read for long periods of time and still not want to put it down. I am enjoying the discussions too. Everyone has such great things to say about it so far. I can't wait to get to through the second book.

Alright Janet... you're sucking me in! I coincidentally got a commitment bill for one of my book clubs today, so as soon as my payment to them clears I am going to order the first few books in the series for DD9 and I to share. They are in her AR level so I think she will like them too. We will be too late for your book club but I am looking forward to reading something different.

All that said, I did not care for the first Anne Rice book and actually never finished it... so do you think I'll love or hate this one?

I'm not a big Anne Rice fan. In fact, I'm not a vampire/sci-fi reader at all. But to me this is almost more romance/infatuation than anything else. But in a non-sexual way. At least what I have read so far.

But I won't comment any more....I'll save it for the book club. LOL!

This is SOOOO not Anne Rice. Not even close to being as dark. Reading Anne Rice was always so time consuming for me. They weren't easy reads (BTW her Christ the Lord's are not easy reads either). These are very easy to read and get caught up in. You would think they would be difficult because they are actually pretty hefty books but I got through the first 300 pages of book 2 in two days and this one isn't even as exciting as the first one. I think it would be a good read for you. I'm not sure about your daughter. I doubt I would let my daughter read these until 13 or so. There are no cuss words or sexual acts in the book at all and I have to preface it by saying I have never had a 9 year old daughter but I would think Callie wouldn't get this even in 2 years. I could see my 14 year old niece loving these though. I would read a couple hundred pages before giving it to her to read to make sure it is material you find suitable for her. I could be way off base though.

Tricia...thanks for the heads up. I just got my book and was going to start it tonight....hmm...maybe I should wait ...I might be up all night. I have a test tomorrow and then will be home all day. I figured what a way to spend my day resting and reading. Thanks Janet!

ROFL Kevin. I am going to challenge you to read the first one next. I actually have a friend who read these with her husband and he walked in one night and told her "I really love you" because he was inspired by the emotions of the book. If Brandon read ANYTHING that didn't pertain to sports I would force him to read them. Apparently there are very many male closet Twilight readers. BTW, have fun with the video games LOL

Thanks -- I will definately be reading them first. The book club description said 12+ and she is a very advanced reader so I was only thinking about that. Inappropriate content hadn't even crossed my mind, so I appreciate your caution.

Sorry to get off topic! Hopefully they arrive soon and I can read quick enough to join your book club discussion!
