Ipod shopping - Need Help!!

Ok, decided to break down and get an Ipod. I had a Dell Dj, and it was fine until I got a Vista PC. Dell Djs are dinasours and vista software does not support them. Believe me, I looked at all my options and have decided an Ipod nano is what I want.

I really only need the features on the 3rd gen nano, not all the features on the new 4th gen. What I want is music and the ability to maintain a contact list.

I can get 3rd gen. refurbished at $99 at the Apple Store. Anyone have experience in purchasing these refurbished Ipods? I just cannot decide if I should spend the extra $ for a new one when I can save some $ on a refurbished.

Any input would be so appreciated. Thanks...........Laura

With Apple refurbs, they test each one, whereas non refurbs they don't. I got ElderNephew12 a refurb shuffle two Christmas' ago, and it's still going strong. A friend of mine got a refurb iBook 4 years ago, and it's fine.
