I'd like to receive "Two Turtle Doves" from my husband because doves pick life partners and are faithful for life. It would be the perfect gift that symbolizes our forever love.

I would definitely pick On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me Five golden rings. A girl can never have too many golden rings but my true love would probably add diamonds to the golden rings because he obviously loves me and knows what I want...a sign of true love!!

I would choose the three french hens because they symbolize the christian virtues of hope, love, and charity. Virtues that I try to live by and practice.

I would have to say 8 maids a milking, since quite frankly, I could really use 8 maids right about now! With all the hustle and bustle of the season approaching, working 2 jobs, having 4 kids, going to college at night, and volunteering as a Girl Guide leader and volunteering for my kids school, I AM POOPED! lol!

I would love to receive the gift of 9 Ladies Dancing. It symbolizes all the virtues I would like other people to attribute to me: 1) love, 2) joy, 3) peace, 4) patience, 5) kindness, 6) generosity, 7) faithfulness, 8) gentleness, and 9) self-control.

However, 9 Ladies Dancing evokes visions of happiness, beauty and gracefulness. Since "grace" is not my middle name, gracefulness would be a particularly wonderful gift.

I would take the 8 maids of milking. We go through LOTS of milk. Whatever is left over, I can sell for a profit. THEN, I really could use them to do quite a few chores around the house. However.....I would prefer...ahem....8 "BUTLERS" of milking.....Surely there would be a cute one in there somewhere......

4 calling bird - 1 for each member of my family
That way I don't sound like a broken record and someone or something else can "call" or "talk" to them on a daily basis and not be listened to!

I would like to receive the partridge in a pear tree. As per a Google search, "The partridge in a pear tree is Jesus the Christ, the Son of God, whose birthday we celebrate on December 25, the first day of Christmas. In the song, Christ is symbolically presented as a mother partridge that feigns injury to decoy predators from her helpless nestlings, recalling the expression of Christ's sadness over the fate of Jerusalem: "Jerusalem! Jerusalem! How often would I have sheltered you under my wings, as a hen does her chicks, but you would not have it so . . . ." (Luke 13:34)"

My DBF's birthday is December 25th. His name happens to be Nickolas, but I call him Saint Nick. :) This particular gift is symbolic to me, as Nick spent some of the best years of his life as a foster parent to his 3 younger siblings. At age 18, he had the responsibility of a 16 year old boy, 14 year old boy and 12 year old girl. I'm sure you can just imagine all that he went through and the many times that he wanted to just call it quits. But through it all, he toughed it out and made sure that his family was taken care of -- he was truely a saint to them. He really sacrificed some of the greatest years of his life to care for them. He reminds me of the mother/father partridge looking over her/his helpless nestlings. That being said, I would LOVE to receive the partridge in a pear tree as a symbol of how far he's come. From raising his sisters and brothers to now having a family of his own, he really has come so far in such a short time.:santa:

I would chose the nine ladies dancing. My kids were just telling me about the meanings of the 12 items. The nine ladies are the fruits of the Holy Spirit. love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

Our family is about as low a point as we have ever been with the economy. My husband is a general contractor and it really is very bad. I went and looked up the meanings of the different numbers. This one fits us fully right now becuase I need all of these things along with many prayers at this point.

The "nine ladies dancing" were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit found in Galatians 5:22-23: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control.

The "seven swans a-swimming" refers to the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.

Oh, yes I could use these - particularly wisdom, understanding and fortitude at this point in my life! Life has been stressful and with the Holidays coming it only seems to get worse.

I am surprised how many of you chose the one I wanted as well. We are trying to get my son off of regular milk and onto organic milk. So I would go for 8 Maids a Milking. :)

I have heard organic milk helps boys stop whining and I need all the help in this area as I can get. He is our milk drinker and has not really taken to organic yet. :)

As a single lady I would take the 10 lords, surely one of them could clean out my gutters, fix the outlet in the bedroom and move the heavy furniture so we can put up the Christmas tree.

So here we go - I need the 12 lords a leaping, 11 ladies dancing, 10 pipers piping and 9 drummers drumming!!! and here's why: I need the pipers and drummers to play music while I dance with the lords a leaping and the ladies dancing!! It's my new weight loss plan!!!! Merry Christmas!!

I could sure use 11 pipers piping. We need a new septic system bad. It's going to cost about $15,000.

Hmmmm, maybe the 6 geese laying golden eggs would be better.

Without a doubt it's 10 lords a leaping. The thought of those men in tight pants leaping just for me . . . sigh . . . is it getting hot?

7 Swans a Swimming. I'm sure the swans would be much happier swimming in nice, warm Florida water. And, I guess I would just HAVE to accompany them!? I mean, swans just can't get in the Southwest "A" cattle line alone, can they? And, if I'm in Florida, maybe I can squeeze in a visit to :mickey: and :minnie:?

This was a tough one, but here goes:

I would like to have the 3 french Hens while dining at Versialle France in the HALL of MIRRORS. Why not I just cashed in my 5 Golden Rings and decided to splurge for the holiday. Of course it would be beautifully decorated for the season by the leaping lords (they are great putting on the tree topper) .....and I am sure that I would have some drummers drumming and pipers piping for entertainment so the Ladies wll be dancing. Some maid in the back a milking waiting for the geese to lay those eggs, the swans of course would be swimming in one of the many beautiful ponds on property. Naturally the Calling Birds announce us as we walk in to the magnificent room, and the partridge is making sure that the best pairs are picked for a wonderful dessert of Tarte choco-poire caram?lis?e

and as for the 2 turtle doves...........hey you never know in this dream sequence I just may find my other half!
