AirTran has started a fare war and Southwest is fighting back. I was just able to rebook my sister's flight from $99 a ticket to $59. She wasn't too excited when I told her that it was a credit, not a refund, because she's not flying anytime soon. But, she perked up when I told her I'd "buy" the credit from her and use it to book our flights home in June.
Just awesome rates for us going out of Philly, $59 each way per person. Southwest!
So, long story short - go check your flights. You may be doing a happy dance today.

I have called SW and asked for the credit back on my CC and got it! Ask and you shall receive!

That is something I'll definitely have to keep in mind for our future bookings.
No wonder Southwest is the only airline to turn a profit.

I hate asking for things like that, but I so wish I could. I have $270.00 credit with Southwest from our January Disney trip and I know we won't use it. I wish I had asked. Now I have to try to find someone to buy them or lose them, but at least I thought I had a good rate the first time I bought. :) Southwest is pretty great.

I think you and DH should take a weekend trip somewhere, anywhere spontaneous...you have a year. :D

Keep in mind you have to use the credits a year from the date you booked not the date of your flight. And......they may give you a one time extension of 6 months. Call and ask. They are usually very accomadating and all they can say is No.
I just checked my flights for April. I did change our flight down since it was $40 cheaper pp than the flight we had. We did go from a non-stop to a 1 stop but we don't have to get of the plane. Fine with me to save $80. That's one day's dining plan for each of us.

We thought about it but we want to save money and even if plane tickets are free the food and lodging isn't. :) I would rather sell them, but if I don't we may have to try a quick trip to Vegas.

I am not sure about your situation but if you booked the same flight -just for a lower price - I would call SW and see if you can get the amount refunded to your credit card. I called after our December trip and was able to have the money refunded to my credit card but it has to be the same flight - day and time! Good Luck and give them a call!

That is what I did...after the trip! Try it and let us know what happens.

I found out that I could have gotten my money back to my CC because I rebooked the same exact flight. But after I got my first credit I found a ding and since it was a ding, even though it was the same flight, I don't think I can get the money back to my card now. O, well. I was really happy with the original price. If I use the 270.00 Great if I sell the tickets even better, but if they go unused before November O, well.

I would still give it a try and explain your situation. I rebooked our December trip 4 times and then cancelled it - to book the ding fare. At first the gentleman said that I would have to use the credit but I nicely explained my situation and told him how happy I have been with SW and he said that he would check again and when he came back on the phone he issued me several credits. I saved over $450 from when I first booked until the Ding fare.

SHHH... don't tell my DH that. I made him take me back to Disney so we didn't lose that credit! :rotfl:
