Sunshine Seasons at Epcot in the Land pavillion. Lots of choices. Also like Cosmic Rays at the MK. Good baked chicken. Pizzafari at AK has a good Deli sandwich. Allearsnet.com has most of the menus, so that is a good place to start plannning meals. The kids would probably like the Mexican place at Epcot. We always do counter service and manage to survive the week! I have not done a sit down meal in several years worth of trips!

I know what you mean about burgers and nuggets all the time. My DH and DS could live on that kind of food but I like more variety. I love the Lotus Blossum Cafe in China (anything on the menu), Columbia Harbor House in MK (for their fish) and Backlot Express in HS (for the greek salad and bbq pork sandwiches)

I second Sunshine Seasons at Epcot. They have a huge selection!

For something different, but still kid-friendly, try hotdogs at Casey's in the MK. I like their corn dog nuggets.

And since I know you are staying at Pop.....I think the food court there is great. They also have a good selection and for fast food, their portions are not skimpy at all. I really like their Parmesan Chicken. Also had a good breakfast sandwich this last visit.

I've always had good luck at the following..

PECOS BILL in Frontierland in MK..great chicken wrap or chicken salad

SUNSHINE SEASONS in The Land in Epcot-something from the Asian menu..like Sweet and Sour Chicken, Spicy Thai Chicken, Mongolian Ginger Beef with Garlic Udon Noodles, Stirfry vegetables, White Rice, or Broccoli.
You get your choice of two of the main entree's and two of the sides.

YUM

I tried Mexico's CS last trip and was pleasantly surprised. I think Epcots countries have some of the nicest places - like in Morocco! Yum!
I like Sunshine Season's and Columbia Harbour House too.

We were just at Disney in January and we had a FABULOUS counter service meal at Wolfgang Puck.

I had the asian salad and I think it was the best I've ever had. Some of the kids had the alfredo while others had chicken strips. They also have pizzas.

I couldn't believe that they didn't limit your choices but you could have anything on the menu.

They also had a creme brule to die for.

This was by far the best counter service we had. I think for the 8 of us it would have been close to $200 but just 8 table services.

We are going back in April and I can't wait for another of the salads.

Thanks,
Becky

Oh man, I love threads like this!

Epcot- my new favorite is Tangierine in Morocco- their wrap is TDF. I also like the teriyaki at Yakitori house in Japan.

MK- I LOVE the tuna sandwich at Columbia Harbour House in Liberty Square. Yummo- they also have good clam chowder here, and chicken strips/fish.

I like Cosmic Rays- rotisserie chicken and potatoes or a burger with all the fixens.

AK- besides Flame Tree, we like the Yak n Yeti counter service. the honeyed chicken is reallllly tasty, as are the egg rolls.

DtD- I also have to say Earl and Puck's Express- great variety here! Esp on the dining plan, you cannot beat the value!

Also, I thought the Mara at AKL had a fantastic variety of food- I got a huge fried shrimp platter here and my kids had flatbread pizza. I heard the new counter svc at the Contemporary is really good too, if you happen to want to monorail over there for lunch/dinner.

MK:

Harbour House tuna sandwich (and I don't ever eat tuna)
my sister liked the chicken sandwich there as well

Main Street Bakery. I have been able to make a cs out of frech toast loaf and a frozen latte (also strawberry one). So filling we can share this one
Casey's is okay if you are looking for a bit of a change (well for hotdogs that is)

AK:

Flaming Tree roasted chicken breast....so good

EPCOT:

France Bakery the girls get there cs there all the time. Sydney gets the turkey and cheese on baguette, Sadie gets ham & cheese on croissant. they also get a dessert and drink. Now honestly you and Bethany could split one of these. Way too much food....the boys could eat them whole I bet.

Morrocco: I use to love their cs, but not anymore! so sad

England: Fish and chips always good

If I can think of anymore I will let you know...

We love the fish and chips stand, the Morocco place, and the German stand. All were really good last September. MGM and AK were the hardest for us to try and find something other than the usual burgers and such. We finally tried Pecos Bill and it was ok but I was not blown away with the toppings bar like some of those Dissers.

Thanks for all of the responses! I love this part of the planning. Sounds like we will have lots of choices other than the burger - which is fine - but nice to do something different at times.

I printed of the menu for Pop. They did seem to have lots of choices. I am excited about that...not as excited as my 14 year old boy though!

Thanks guys! If you think of any others, please let me know!!!!

From what I'm reading, the Shrimp Lo Mein is really tasty (and BIG) at the Pop. Can't wait to try it (and the cheesecake. :p)

The cheesecake is on the top of my list for a snack! Because according to the DIS, I can use it for a snack credit! WOOHOO! Boy do I LOVE cheesecake! It is definitely one of my favorite foods in the world! I am so excited for my trip that I am bursting at the seams!

Love Earl and wolfgang puck!!

At MK we usually go to Cosmic Rays and get the chicken and pork combo, we also like Columbia Harbor House.

At Epcot, we love all the countries hae varieties

At Animal Kingdom we do Yak and Yeti counter service :)

At DHS, we usually stick to burgers and chicken or the pizza planet!

Just FYI don't know if you can go to other resorts, but I have found that Coronado Springs resort has some awesome counter service choices. :)

i have to throw in another vote for pecos bills-the bbq sub is pretty good (i only eat the meat, but it's still good) and DH loves the toppings bar. we're not adventurous eaters and my menu is limited in some ways b/c of my gastric bypass surgery, but as long as there's burgers and fries, DH is happy.

Angela when is your trip??

DTD- Wolfgang Puck - breakfast and lunch/dinner

The breakfast here is awesome!! Great omelets and potatoes, yummy waffles, and the breakfast pizza is surprisingly delicious!!

Lunch/dinner - awesome chicken strips that my kids love, great roasted chicken with the world's best mashed potatoes, and awesome salads!

Hotels - We liked the food court choices at CSR and at Wilderness Lodge.

[B]MKB] - Casey's has great hotdogs and also really good corndog nuggets which my 6 year old loves!

We also love Cosmic Ray's for all the different choices and the toppings bar.

Hope you have a wonderful trip!! :sunshine:

We just got back and loved all of these CS meals:

Epcot- The German stand Sommerfest is my new favorite. Yummy Bratwurst, pretzels and good German beer!

MK- Columbia Harbour House is a nice sit down counter service with great Clam Chowder, good salads and I love the Lighthouse Sandwich. Usually my hubby and I both get a bowl of chowder and split a sandwich.

AK- We always eat at Flame Tree BBQ. My husband loves the smoked 1/2 chicken, my son loves the ribs and my daughter and I either share the 1/2 chicken with an extra order of coleslaw or split the turkey sandwich.

HS - We LOVE Sci-Fi Dine In! I know it doesn't get great reviews but we have never had a bad meal there. My family loves good burgers and theirs are great. This visit my DH and I both got a burger and shared the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. My daughter got the BLT Soup (which she loved) and ate 1/2 of my burger. I have also had the Rueben and loved it.

DTD- Earl of Sandwich because we love different funky sandwiches and Wolfgang Puck Express for the pizza and Focaccia sandwiches.

I'm making myself hungry! I can't wait to go back!

Just got back and have a couple of updates/notes.

The Cuban sandwich wasn't on the menu at ABC Commissary (sp.?). Looks like it's gone. I ended up getting the kids ham and cheese wrap. DH and I split a sandwich (can't remember the kind) and entree sized salad at the Backlot Express later in the day. It was early evening, after the last Lights Motors Action show was long over, and it was very empty and relaxing to sit back there.

Great 1/2 rotisserie chicken meal at Cosmic Ray's with mashed potatoes and green beans. Very moist and ended up sharing with DD.

I had a tuna sandwich at Columbia Harbour House and really enjoyed it. I do not like raw onions (a texture thing) and couldn't detect any in this sandwich. The bread was very hearty and tasty. DH had the hummus, broccoli slaw sandwich there and loved it so much, he said he'll have it again in June.

TieDye cheesecake fell short of expectations. From what you see on other boards, I expected this to be nirvana and, although it was tasty, it didn't live up to the hype. I prefer New York style tangy, dense cheesecake and this was more "fluffy," if that makes sense. The bottom layer was red velvet cake, instead of graham cracker, but it wasn't as chocolately like most red velvet cakes are.

At Pirata y Perico, I had 2 tacos with yellow rice. Halfway through my tacos, I saw other guests taking their plate, filling it with lettuce and tomato from the toppings bar and then dumping their tacos/rice on top, making a taco salad. Great idea!

The Best BLT at Earl of Sandwich was indeed the best I've ever had! The tomato soup was creamy and very yummy.

Pineapple Dole Whip Float - YUM! Needn't say any more!

Fish and Chips and Spicy Tuna Roll in Japan were both very good - I was a little leary of the roll since it was premade but we were there early enough and it tasted great, not gummy. DD really liked her chicken/rice kids' meal at China.

I think another great place to get a meal for a decent price would be at the Campground. We had dinner at the Trails End but I looked at the take out menu and saw pizza for around $16 and the 10 piece chicken dinner with sides and biscuits for $22.99 - which is a steal by WDW standards. We never had a counter service for our family of 4 for less than that. It would make for a nice evening to go there, get the family chicken meal and head to the singalong/movie. Or just take a nice boat ride from MK and relax in the nice, cool trees while eating and then head back afterwards.

OK, now back to counting points. :p
