Just wanted to throw out a post and poll about the offers on SR that are categorized as "Free Stuff" (http://www.sunshinerewards.com/category_offers.php?cat=4). These are the offers that are generally exchanging your information for a credit anywhere between .25 and 1.50.

Are you growing tired of them because of the spam? Do you like them because they are easy money? Do you even try them?

I like them ($.25 is $.25) but they are not foremost on my SR agenda like a DS.

I like them - they're good for a nice account boost when you need it. But I'll admit that I haven't been doing them lately because of time contraints. I don't think I want them to go away though...they were my bread and butter when I first started. :)

I just checked my stats and have earned over $405 on the offers. That's a nice chunka change. I hope they stay around.

I really LOVE them when they credit but lately it's been frustrating because most of them that I try are not crediting but I also would hate to see them go away. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment? :D

I always try them when they are available for those of us up here.

I like them and they add to the pot. I don't do them as often as I use to but that's only because I don't like a long list of pends. LOL. However, when you are running neck to neck on the big board, hey, a freebie can take you to victory. :rotfl:

I can't say that I love them, but I have added a nice chunk of change to my account because of them. I focus on them only when I have extra time, but they are great when I'm having a dry spell at surveys.

It is frustrating when they don't credit, but I do them all anyway and figure it is worth my time if at least half of them do. I really NEED the offers because I can't afford to do much shopping. It makes up at least 1/3 of my account.

i like the offers but i too get frustrated sometimes when i do everything i am suppose to do, like confirm my email address in the confirmation emails i get and then don't get credit for them but that hasn't stopped me from still trying. offers are not my main focus on sr but the money does help and when one does credit like it should it really makes my day.

I can't say that I love them but I would hate to see them go away. It seems like when I can't get into a survey, then offers credit well for me and vise versa. I have been doing more offers of late since DH is home and I have some extra time. I figure if 1/3 of them credits it is better than nothing at all. I usually do them in the evenings after the kiddies and in bed and DH and I are watching TV.

I would hate to lose them, they don't always credit, but when they do it's a nice jump to my account. I vote to keep them.

I would also hate to see them go away, like others said it could be the difference on the big board. I go in spurts with them, then sometimes I take a break. I would hate to see them go away though. A nice portion of my credits have come from them.

I love them when they credit. I do them often, but it seems like only about 20% credit. My pending list is huge!! :)

Even though I don't do them as often as I did when I first started, I would miss them if they went away. I used to try and do 2-3 offers a day, now it seems I do 1 offer every 2-3 days. It's a bit frustrating spending all that time and not getting credit, yet I still plug away when I have the chance and cross my fingers that it credits.

I'm not a big fan of them right now because they haven't been crediting very well. If all of the offers that I tried this month had credited, I would have earned $24.65, but I have only earned $11.70. It is frustrating but I think I would be sad to have that earning potential go away.

Thanks for asking!!

I do some now and then. I used to do more, but now I am much busier, and don't have as much time. I also feel sort of discouraged when I get confirm emails and other emails besides that come from offers, but I don't get credit, which happens more often than not now. Like others said, if more of the ones I did credited, I'd have more in my account! -- Nonetheless, it's nice to have them to try from time to time, and nice when some credit! The spam all goes into my spam email addresses anyway, not my main one, so I pay little attention to it - I just know it's there when I go to check for confirm emails.

I'm with most of the others. I'm finding that more and more are not crediting (and I know it is more than just me), but I would really hate for them to be taken away too. I wish they would go back to crediting like they used to though.

I like doing them, but I don't get credited for a lot of them. The ones I receive in emails seem to work better than me just going to the offers pages. I wouldn't want to see them go anywhere though.

I also like doing them but not getting credit lately.

One thing though even with me not doing many lately the last two days after I finish one and come back to my computer up in the web address screen at the top of the page my internet symbol will be the Cool Rewards pig.

It also will change the icon for Sunshine Rewards to the pig as well.

When I just came on this time the icon for SR was an envelope. As soon as I clear cookies it goes away. It is making me nervous though where I am not sure if I want to keep doing them.

I like trying them, but rarely get credit any longer. I thought it might be because I changed my ISP, but based on what I've been reading here, maybe that's not it.

I like the medical one's.
I hated begging my Dr. for a rebate form each month when I got my Nexium.
Now I use my card Astra Zeneca sent me when I signed up,
and I save $30 on my out of pocket charge of $50 for my Nexium.

Angie had a contest this past weekend
and nothing credited.
I bet I confirmed over half of them in my e-mail and still they didn't credit.

Last month, I think I had every car dealership call me and ask me about buying a car. I was looking for a Chevy Tahoo, but I still got calls from Ford dealerships, and every other kind of dealership. I think I did cars.com
That was scary.

i like the freebie offers, but i really don't get much time to do them. of the few i've done since the first of the year, i think only one of them credited. i thought it might be because i used firefox instead of IE.

I don't do the freebies, unless it is an e-mail newsletter I am interested in or a medicine that we use. I don't really mind giving out my e-mail or even my home address, but I hate giving out my phone number. I do get lots of junk e-mail to the address I have used for those kinds of offers, but that doesn't really bother me as long as they are not calling me at home! :computer:

I don't mind them being on SR though, so I'm not advocating getting rid of them if people like them. I just don't do them.

The way surveys have been lately... I need the freebies. I love the offer contests... much more fun to do offers and chat with others about them. I need to get my butt in gear and do more, or we won't be able to go to Disney this year.

Only you can tell how it impacts the SR business. Is the extra money it brings in to SR worth the time it takes to post them and deal with them??

I would miss them on SR, but other sites have offers, but SR has the best payouts on offers.

I would hate to see the offers go away. Like many others they don't credit like they use to for me, but well enough that it makes a difference. This past weekend with Angie's contest I think 5 offers credited. I am trying very hard to make SM for the 5th time and am not able to shop as much right now so the offers are important. I do a DS every day, try for an OTX next and then a SM.

I like them, and have come to terms with the ones that don't credit.

I also don't consider the email I get from them to be spam, as I am willingly giving my info out. Just a little point of semantics with me...spam is when you didn't give your info...rather, these are emails about things that I have somehow shown an interest in.

That said, I hate the phone calls.

I have earned quite a bit with the freebie offers, so I would definitely miss them if they were gone. Lately though, I have been having a hard time getting offers to credit.

Is SR considering doing away with Freebies? Maybe going with Surveys and Shopping only? I think if we had a few more Survey opportunities I might be fine with no Freebies. :)

I'd be very sad to see freebies go. I don't do a lot of shopping, so the freebies help me keep my super member status. I don't mind the extra emails, they are easy to ignore. It doesn't even bother me too much when they don't credit. I figure it is free money, so why complain. I have slowed down with them a bit in the last few months though. I used to do 1 or 2 a day and now it's more like 2 or 3 a week, but I still do them and would really miss them.

I am one if the 2 people who had to mark "I'm not even sure what you're talking about." I am still a newbie to SR and I guess I was just used to the easiness of ********-just click on an e-mail to get points. I've clicked on the "freebie" offers here and just felt like I didn't know what to do except click "no" on every offer repeatedly. I really feel like I do get enough spam as it is, I also don't like the continous pop-ups. In the past, I've always ignored these offers like the plague-they aren't even posted on other "freebie" sites I've been too. I mean, does anybody ever really get the $500 gift card they advertise?? Maybe I just need a little more insight and experience on this, as I really would like to increase my earnings here.

That is sort of how I feel too. I have a whole bunch of stuff in pending that I have no clue if I even did correctly.

Me too. Sometimes I am lucky and get a bunch to credit. Then, nights like last night, I try 3-4 and none credit. I don't really get it sometimes, other than I guess I must already be in their system?? (But you would think after 3 years, I would be in ALL of them, and none would credit???). Anyway, when they DO credit, I love the boost! I would hate for them to go away.

I'm actually really glad to see a post like this!! The "Free Stuff" offers are the ones listed in the "Free Stuff" category if you go up to the SR menu and click "Offers by Category." If you are just looking at All of the Offers or the Most Popular, they are interwoven in there.

These offers are generally paying you for information or to get you to sign up for other offers (like newsletters, trials, etc). You do NOT have to qualify for whatever the big promotion is at the end to get your SR credit. That said, a lot of these are run by the same companies so if you are already in their database, you won't get credit.

A part of me feels like you have to really understand the whole "get paid to" scene to do the freebie offers. It's the only way to understand what information you should NOT give out, how often you get credit, etc. It seems like they should be an easy thing. But it's actually pretty in depth. For the people who take the time to learn it, they actually earn a lot of credits off of it. But for people who dabble in it, I think you can get burned by signing up for things you don't want.

I thought of something else. I prefer to do freebie offers on SR as opposed to other sites because I believe that you screen them for porn, sneaky sign-ups, immorality, etc.

Is there some type of tutorial posted on here to help those of us that are newer to the site so that we don't get so frustrated/confused, etc. OR is it just one of those things that either you get or don't?

There should be a stickie in the offer's forum.
1 tip of help use the new post button at the top for new posts
2. Go to the main forum and look at each topic and the stickies in each one, they have the most info in them to help. Read over then come ask quetions. It's hard to know exactly what to answer based on what you understand or don't.

As frustrating as freebies can be... I'm at about 30% coverting for February compared to about 60% in January...they are a major part of my SR income.

I am the wrong demographic for surveys. I think this month's count for the GF survey is 6. The SM survey is hit or miss as well and OTX just drives me crazy and I only do them when I'm desperate.

I shop, but only for stuff I need and that is a good deal on-line.

So, please don't take my freebies away!

How do you learn how to do it properly?

A lot of it has to do with being active in the forum. For example, paying attention to which offers other people are posting that they are getting credits for. Looking out for offers that people say are tricky. Also reading posts like this that talk about reading the fine print of the offers. You have to have a basic understanding of WHY these companies are paying me to pay you to complete these freebies. 1) They may be collecting your information and reselling it, and 2) They hope that you are signing up for some of the offers along the way through the registration path.

I think once people understand those two big things, it starts to make sense more. It really isn't "something for nothing." There's a cost involved...it might just be looking at advertisements...or it might be having some of your information sold.

Okay, I just thought I was really missing something.
I try to sign up for anything travel related when I do these Freebies.
I love travel brochures.
I just got a planning CD for Disney World in California and pin# to use.
I know I signed up on a Freebie on Sunshines with this one.
I just have to convince my dh to go to California.:cooldance:
