It's time for a little more forum fun. The rules of this one are simple and all SR members are welcome to participate.

Object: Post the book AND author that I have chosen.

Rules: You can only guess once per clue that I have posted. You must be a Sunshine Rewards member before you post your guess. You must post both the book and its author in this thread before anyone else.

Prize: $10 Borders Gift Card.

That's it! The first person to guess correctly (spelling doesn't count) will win!

Clue Number One: It's a Book!!

I'm sorry if it annoys you. I was actually a literature major, and when I discovered The Chronicles of Narnia for the 2nd time since 5th grade I was amazed at the symbolism. They're lots of books out there that I took for granted the 1st time and then something more profound got me the 2nd time. I guess it all depends on where you are in life and what you're looking for. This is why I love reading, and rereading the same books at different times in my life. :sunshine:

Around 2001?

Black House:
Of course, this is no ordinary policeman, but Jack Sawyer, hero of Stephen King and Peter Straub's 1984 fantasy The Talisman. At the end of that book, the 13-year-old Jack ....(edit to remove any spoilers!) Now in his 30s, Jack remembers nothing of the Talisman, but he also hasn't entirely forgotten:

When these faces rise or those voices mutter, he has until now told himself the old lie, that once there was a frightened boy who caught his mother's neurotic terror like a cold and made up a story, a grand fantasy with good old Mom-saving Jack Sawyer at its center. None of it was real, and it was forgotten by the time he was sixteen. By then he was calm. Just as he's calm now, running across his north field like a lunatic, leaving that dark track and those clouds of startled moths behind him, but doing it calmly.

Jack is abruptly pulled into the case--and back into the Territories--by the Fisherman himself, who sends Jack a child's shoe, foot still attached.

OMG! I should have gotten that one. My whole family is obsessed with Wicked, we listen to it in the car all of the time (the soundtrack) and even my 4 year old knows every word. We absolutely loved the play, really makes you look at The Wizard of Oz in a new light. And, after all my name is Dorothy!

Congrats Jill!
