View Full Version : Could something be blocked?

I need someone a little more tech savvy than myself. I am wondering if there is something blocking cookies from a network or the likes. I am receiving credits for surveys - Daily, OTX, Your2Cents, freebies (hit or miss as usual), but only about 50% of my shopping is crediting without the need for a trouble ticket. Previously it was more like 100% was crediting without a TT. So since some stuff is crediting and others are not I'm thinking maybe I have a network blocked since cookies aren't the issue.
Anyone have any ideas or ways to check? I hate making more work for Angie around here.

The only thing I can suggest is to check out that thread Gaye and I had updated, we were both having similar issues and what she found worked for me and ended up working for several others. Just a thought or at least somewhere to look. I think you may even stickied it in the technical section.
My problem was not being able to access commission junction sites at all (I think that was the one). Now with windows/microsoft updates things could have changed but it's a start?

Yeah I already looked there and renamed that file. I don't remember if I did that before the last shopping order or not. I'll have to recheck and then test on the Target order I need to place.

I was wondering about this too, I've submitted two TT in the past week for merchants that I've not had a problem with crediting before. One of them is pending and the other was just submitted so I don't know about that one yet. But other shopping credits come through just fine!

It's especially odd because on the whole we are seeing a LOT less trouble tickets filed.

Is it the same merchant over and over? I never get credit for Shoes.com without filing a TT - I don't even stress about it anymore. Miss Angie is always able to match the credit with the order. Barnes and Noble is another one - sometimes I don't even get confirmation e-mails from them. But if Shoebuy doesn't credit in 24 hours, I know something happened. Are you having trouble with merchants that previously credited fine, or are these new merchants you are using?
Don't really have the answer for you, but if they are merchants that credited fine before vs. new merchants, I'd think your settings had been changed.

No it is definitely different merchants. For example: Barenecessaties, Itunes, Figleaves, Macy's, and bookcloseouts.com all credited without needing a TT recently.
So far: champion, shopbop, bagsbuy, and deepdiscount have needed trouble tickets. I've never had issues with them in the past which is weird and why I was thinking maybe something is blocked.

That's even more strange because those are on different networks.
I wonder if you are not staying logged into SR? I've seen credits come through on some of those where they show up as "nologin", basically someone clicking through our links but not being logged in when they click on them.

Hmm. I don't think so but I'll pay more attention. Alot of the times I've been shopping back to back after doing my browsing and clearing cookies. I have been double checking to make sure I've stayed logged in but maybe I should log out and log back after the cleaning and before the shopping.

my tt merchants where Best buy and Bath & body works which I have never had a problem with crediting and I'm pretty sure I was logged in, I always double check that before placing my order.

I am having the same issue right now. Surveys and offers are crediting for me, but I am having issues with my shopping crediting and it's with merchants that usually pend pretty quickly. I do clear cookies before I shop and I do check to make sure that I stayed logged in to SR after the purchase. I also use IE7 99% of the time when I shop and I have everything set up to accept cookies according to the sticky.
I haven't downloaded anything recently and I use CCleaner all the time. Were you able to figure out what was going on with your shopping credits? I'm just wondering if there's something that I am missing that I can fix on my end.
:thanks:

I'm sorry but I won't be of much help. My issue resolved itself when I upgraded to IE7 on my laptop and quit using Firefox as well for shopping. I did just notice that my iTunes purchase right before the wedding didn't come thru and I think it is because the computer I used had IE6.
Since you are on IE7 upgrading to IE7 won't help. LOL. Did you check the thread about sites being blocked by some of the cleaning programs? I also went through that process during the upgrade and made sure to change those sites that were noted in the sticky/thread here were on always allow. Maybe that would help you.
ETA: This is that sticky. Doesn't look like it would be of help with the thread title but I did go through it and the thread it links to and performed those tasks on my computer. http://www.sunshinerewardsforum.com/showthread.php?t=10076

Thanks for the sticky! I just went to Internet Options-> Privacy-> Blocked Sites and there are a ton of sites in there! :eek:I didn't block any of them at all. How does that list get generated? Is it manually or do anti virus programs automatically populate the list?
Maybe something on the list that is blocked is preventing things from crediting properly. Does anyone know what network Shoebuy and 4 Inkjets go through?

I think popup blockers, spybot, ccleaner, etc put sites on that list. Just go through that list that was posted in that thread (might be the link) and see if any of them are on you list. If they are you will just need to go and change block to allow.

Do I need to change the host file too as suggested in that post or can I just allow the sites that are listed?

I can't remember if anything was in there but I think I changed it just to be safe. Nothing has gone wrong since I have done all of this if that helps at all.

Okay, I went ahead and added the .bak to the host file. Is this the only list of sites we need to allow for SR?

Those are the only ones that I remember. I did try to google search but didn't really come up with anything else.

Thanks for all of your help with this! :thanks: I may have to place a Shoebuy order later on to see if the problem is fixed. ;)

I'd suggest a good going over with cleaner/scanner.
My personal favorite is malwarebytes.org ... I didn't find anything on the quick scan... but it found some stuff on the long scan and my offer credit percentage went up.
