I was thinking I would take my DS and friends to see A Christmas Carol today but the reviews I am reading of the movie are disturbing. Many people are saying it is too dark for children. The visuals are supposed to be great but the story is dark and depressing. We went last year at Christmas with Marley and Me (too sad for words) I do not want to repeat that mistake.
Has anyone on SR seen this film?? My son is not easily scared we love Pirates of Caribbean but we aren't big on sad!

I haven't seen this version but the story is a little dark and depressing. Scrooge doesn't exactly have the greatest life and the whole Cratchett family is pretty badly off. The story ends well but that may not be enough. I'm not sure if I want to see this because I love the Allaister Sim version so much.

A friend of mine went last week with her DD's 7 and 3 and walked out because it was too scary. If your son likes scary - go for it. Don't know about sad. HTH
