Will do! I've never cooked short ribs before so I hope the meat is REALLY good! :rotfl: It looked nice and fresh and it was still partially frozen.

Wellll.....since I wasn't planning on having them tonight until they were delivered, I'm kind of just doing it on the fly. I'm doing them in my crock-pot. I had a can of beef consomme in my pantry so I threw that in. And I had some Tastefully Simple herb pesto seasoning that I shook in. I didn't want to put anything too flavorful (like BBQ sauce) on them because I want to see if they really do taste better than the usual beef I buy.

They smell really good. I hope they taste as good. I'll have to let you know after dinner. :eat:

yes, let us know. I plan on ordering next month, if the offer is still there. Right now I have quite a bit of meat in the freezer, so I don't want to order til I am short on meat.

Well, kind of a mixed review.....

So keep in mind that they are ribs. There was more fat than meat. But the meat was very tasty! DH and I agreed that their steaks are probably very good and I am looking forward to trying the steak burgers.

I think that ribs are just not my thing....it's just the nature of the cut for them to be fatty.

So, I would still give a good review to La Cense....just wouldn't buy the ribs again.

Is anyone thinking of buying one of the larger packages? I can't remember what they included. It might be worth it to get some steaks.

Does it say the weight of the meat on the packaging? I am curious about how big the burgers are.

Thanks!

The burgers are 6 oz. each.

I actually didn't order because ribs just aren't my thing. I'd rather try something with just burgers and steak. Hmmmmm....contemplating whether to order the bigger package or just get the regular one and maybe give the ribs to someone who would enjoy them more.

Did the beef taste any different than regular beef?

Preparing a self-addressed stamped envelope (will 10 x 13 be large enough?) for delivery from Indiana to California.......

I got my order yesterday. It was a good thing as when I opened the freezer I realized it has broke! I am not sure when I would have opened it otherwise. Everything was still mostly frozen.

The burgers look really good.

Thanks for the update Jill. I'll have to go look at the offer.

DH eats pork but I don't. I was hoping to order when we get to Florida next week. We have to shop for food and I figured this would be a good way to get some meat and SR rewards too.

It tasted a little different. A little more flavorful I guess....can't exactly put my finger on it though.

They are beef ribs Kathie, just to clarify.

Yeah......DH just explained that to me and told me they were good. Shows you what I know!!

I hear/see RIBS and I am remembering being pregnant with my DS (now 29) and being sick as a dog everytime I smelled or looked at pork. To this day, I still can't even look at it without turing green.

He's interested. I'll most likely order when we get to Florida.

Thanks for the report.

DH grilled the steakburgers for lunch today and they were really good!! Keep in mind that we mostly eat venison so are already used to very low fat meat. As far as the flavor, I guess since I'm not used to beef I didn't find them to be anymore flavorful than his northern Missouri grain fed venison, but they were still pretty tasty. Definately much better than, say, Holten's or other pre-made patties from the grocery store. I also like that they are individually wrapped. There was very little shrinkage and they cooked up nicely. So we give them 8 thumbs up (kids liked 'em too!). Looking forward to the ribs... we'll do those on the grill too.

I made both yesterday. My daughter was the only one who liked the ribs. I thought they had way too much fat on them. The burgers were very good, though. I will likely order more of those and maybe try their steaks sometime, but won't get the ribs again.

I got a question about delivery. My DH and I both work full time. Does somebody need to be home to accept delivery, or does it come packed in a ice chest so it will be okay on the front doorstep for a few hours?

It was just left on my doorstep. It does come in an ice chest and even though all the dry ice was gone, it was frozen solid. :)

THe short ribs are normally a fatty cut. I don't know exactly where it is on the cow but it is a bit different that your traditional rib that is long and meaty without the fat.

When I was a child, my mom would get short ribs and boil them and when the meat was tender she would put noodles in with it and let it simmer a little while.

We are saving our burgers for for Christmas WDW trip but we have not decided when to do the short ribs.
