Ok - first of all - I'm careful with what I click on.
I just got my mail today and a credit card from:
CCA
Credit Service Division
PO Box 46101
Las Vegas, NV 89114-6101
(800)277-7056
The credit card has a "1 First National Card" logo on it.
was in my mail box. It is not a real "major" credit card - it's one of those rip off cards that is tied to shopping with a specific merchant. I am not going to call and activate it and I have not given out my Soc Sec # to any "offer" that I've completed. I can shred the credit card and be done with it. It just bugs me because it is a card with a charging number and my first and last name and if it had been delivered to the wrong person, I'm assuming they would possibly be able to use it.
I have no way of knowing which offer this is tied to, but - I'm guessing it is one of those Vegas offers that I've already received mail from.

I would call them and tell them to cancel your account or anything tied to it and take you off the mailing list. I'm not sure if its a real card yet or if you have to apply but just shredding it won't close the account out. :(

DONT call them! There has been issues with this comapny before. They used to have a thing where if you dialed in for any reason they could match your phone # to the address of the card and automatically activate it even if you never speak to another person.
Ive gotten these before i ever did any rewards sites. They just buy databases of address, names and phone numbers and send these out. Once it gets activated the fees start piling up and they make a killing. Your best bet is to just shred it and forget it.

Thanks! I didn't call since they don't have my social security number. It's been shredded. I mainly wanted to post to find out if anybody has received these before and had advice for us forum newbies. I've been reading the old posts, trying to catch up on the ins and outs. Thanks again for everybody's help!

I received one of those a few weeks ago (or maybe a little longer?). I shredded it too.

This whole thing is very scary....can I ask how you know they don't have your SSN? I guess I'd be afraid that they pulled my credit score or something too!! So scary! I'm glad you asked everyone!!

I don't give out my SSN online - but, I suppose if they have access to credit bureau files, they can match my name and address. It's about that time of year for me to pull my free annual credit reports to make sure nothing funky has shown up and I'll definitely be looking for this thing. I've received offers similar to this card before in the mail - but, it was just a paper - no plastic card attached -- and these types of things never show up on my credit file. They are similar to those "choose & charge" instant credit offers that come on Figi's & Swiss Colony catalogs, as well as some clothing catalogs. There's always a stated credit limit - but, I've never used them and they have never been on my credit report.
