View Full Version : Strange things happening with Greenfield...?

I don't know what's going on or if it's just me. But I've done 3 surveys today and got the exceeded limit on all three.
I did one this morning and got the congrats page. I am a tad obsessed about double checking later in the day to make sure I still get the exceeded limit after getting burned before not checking. Anyway, got the exceed deal immediately after the first survey this morning. I've trained DH to do surveys too. He gets on later in the day and it lets him take one. He didn't clear cookies or anything (he did do his email but that shouldn't have mattered.. he should not have been able to even get into the survey regardless). He mentions it to me and said he double checked for the exceeded thing and got it after his survey. I was shocked that he got into one after I had the exceeded sign that morning. So I get on a few hours later and I'm able to get into yet another one! I just completed it and I got the exceeded limit deal again. So technically, that's 3 surveys I (we) did today. I have no idea if all (or any) of them will credit. I don't know if I should have tried this last one or not. But I was afraid that since it allowed both DH and I to do another survey that the first two didn't even count?
Has anyone else been able to do multiple surveys today after getting the exceeded limit page? I thought maybe this last one was technically tomorrows, but it's not even close to midnight Eastern yet.

If you change e-mails it is possible to do another survey because greenfield tracks by e-mail address.. So yes you and your DH both did one, Did you use the same e-mail for survey #3 as survey #1 even if you did a typo it would be a different address and allow you to go again...
So it looks like you did 3 today and they will most likely all credit....
Its best that once you get the exceeded message your good and should not do again, But i also understand wanting to make sure you get 1 in...

Actually no, you can't get into another survey once you've done one, new email or not. Give it a try right now, you'll see what I mean. The "you've exceeded your limit" page pops up and you don't even have a shot at changing your email address. So that's why I was shocked when DH did one (he didn't know I had done one that morning). So that's when I was totally confused and tried the survey link and was able to get in a 3rd time. And just to make absolutely sure it wasn't any email issue, I never changed it from my DH's email from earlier. I'm showing the exceeded limit page (again :rotfl: ) right now and I'm not doing anymore. I guess I'll just hang out and see what happens tomorrow. If I end up with credit for 3 (as well I should IMO, but I'll be happy for just one), I may just not do one or two later so it's a wash. I just don't understand why I was even allowed into another one in the first place, kwim?

Ok your right if cookies were not cleared then you can not change e-mail and you get the limit!!!
However if if you used another computer or even a different internet browser then they would not have the completed cookies... if you use only one browser and only one computer, you might have a program that is automatically clearing cookies or spyware those would all be reasons as to how it could have happened...
It also could have been something with greenfield but i think the cookie has to do with SR and is from SR....
Again sorry for the above incorrect statement and now i hope this has helped...

Oh no worries at all. :) It's just been a strange survey day. :rotfl: We didn't clear any cookies, use different browsers and I'm almost positive we're virus/spyware free, but who knows? Worst case scenario is I don't get credit for any of the surveys I did and we wasted our time. Best case is I somehow get credit for 3. All I know is no matter what it says, I'm not doing another today. :rotfl:
btw, I'm sorry if I sounded snippy in the last post. I didn't intend to. Sometimes inflections are hard to hear in written text, kwim? I do appreciate your responses though. :)

Yep i kwym... I just try to provide some help and answer questions and even i can get them wrong i may have alot of posts and learned alot but i still have only been around a few months....
If you start having problems with this exceded thing again or offers not crediting i would start thinking you have something clearing your cookiess..
BTW you will most likley get the 3 to credit!!!

Mandi...the same thing happened to me today. I did a survey at 4:30 AM Sunday morning and then my DH was able to do another at 1:30 AM tonight. We used the same computer and the same e-mail address. I also checked the "Exceeded survey" page and found that at 1:30 AM it was showing the survey checklist page. Of course I panicked and thought the morning survey did not credit even though I was routed back to the "Congratulations" page. Since my DH usually has better luck qualifying, I had him take the survey.

Same thing happened to me on Saturday. I did a survey, then later I was able to get into the survey page again. I thought the first probably didn't credit and did another one. I couldn't get any yesterday (got the exceeded message all day), so I wondered if Greenfield's internal clock was set differently and I was within 24 hours of Saturday's. Best case, I get credit for both on Saturday since I didn't get a chance yesterday!

That explains something for some of us. I read some were in the same boat as I was. We were getting the exceeded message despite the fact we hadn't done a survey yet. Looks like we were getting your exceeded message and you were getting our chance to get a survey.
I personally never got a survey at all Saturday because of that. It wouldn't let me in until I had less than an hour in the day and then it just kicking me out of them.
Since I got your exceeded message could you share some of those extra credits you may be getting???........

IDK what everyone else's experience is, but I feel like once I get the "you have successfully completed a survey" message is from SR, I am done. I rarely check for the "exceeded limit" message unless I don't get that congrats page, and I am always credited for it. I hope that those who completed multiple surveys don't get the extra credits since many didn't even get a chance at one. It is so frustrating to try and qualify... but I'm on a mission and haven't missed one yet this month!

Those are valid points. If I kept better records of surveys, I would probably remember if I had gotten the congrats screen. On Saturday, I went through parts of several surveys, only to get kicked out at the end or routed to another survey without the congrats page. I finished a survey and had to get off the computer, so I didn't look for the exceeded message. (I do think I got the SR page, but I do check for the exceeded message just to be sure.) When I tried later to confirm that I had actually finished the first one, it let me back in. I guess I will find out today if I did two or not. I got the exceeded message all day yesterday without even being able to try to qualify, so maybe my second one on Saturday (if there was even a second one) counted for Sunday.
It's frustrating to get the exceeded message all day when you know you haven't done a survey, so I understand the obsession with checking to make sure the exceeded message comes up on days when I have done a survey.
I don't think anyone here is trying to cheat the system. If I don't get credit for both surveys on Saturday (if I even did two), that's no big deal. I didn't even have the chance to qualify yesterday, but I don't begrudge anyone who gets two credits yesterday, provided they didn't intentionally clear cookies to get more than their share. Strange things happen sometimes.

Hey guys. I think by now we all know that there are issues with the Greenfield system and it isn't difficult to get multiple surveys in one day. Sometimes you can do it without even trying or doing anything at all. I would just ask that you all not take advantage of this system. If you get the exceeded limit message don't try to take another survey later. The exceeded limit message will assure that you are getting credit for that survey. I have said it several times but it bears repeating that Greenfield has the right to ban you from taking surveys for taking more than one a day. You are agreeing to only take one a day and if you take more than one they can consider it fraud. I haven't seen them do it yet but we don't want them to single SR out as a website who has members that continually take more than one a day. We all want to be part of a site that keeps things on the up and up. I think that you should all agree that the "exceeded limit" message is the indicator that a survey was accepted. If you need to keep track of the daily surveys you are getting that message from in order to not take another later in the day by mistake then I think you should do that. Because we are always using different email addresses and because some have more than one person in a house who try for the survey you should keep the list near your computer so that two people in one house don't take more than one survey a day. I know that it is the fault of Greenfield that they don't have a system to prevent this but I think we should all be above board and not try to take advantage of a flawed system. Thanks guys! I would hate to see someone singled out for fraud or even worse our whole site singled out and we lose surveys totally.

It does seem like Greenfield has done something with the reset of their daily clock. I usually do my survey at 4:00 AM because that's when the clock would reset. Last night my DH was able to do a survey at 1:30 AM and received the "Congratulations" page. When I checked the survey page at 4:15 this morning, it said I had exceeded the survey limit for the day and it still says that now. So I am going to assume that the 1:30 survey will count as Monday's survey and not Sunday's.

Something definetely is up with Greenfield.
I have logged in each morning as always to do a survey (Thurs-Sun) and each time I get the exceed limit page, BUT when I log in after 8 pm It allows me to take a survey. For some reason I'm stuck on a AFTER 24 hrs has passed to be able to get a survey. I'm not to worried bc I did get my credits from the weekend. I'm sure it's something funky going on with their system.
It's just weird bc I never had this problem before, but as soon as they started having issue's it became a problem for me.

I agree that they may have gone back to the 24 hour thing. I did one at about 9pm last night and I am gettting the exceeded limit message today. It may be that they decided to change back for some reason.

I got credit for all the surveys I did this weekend. I am showing the exceeded limit thing today too, even though I haven't taken one since 6pm last night. I'm just going to leave it as is I think and not try for one today since I got those extra credits yesterday.
ETA- I feel like people are saying I was trying to cheat the system and I take offense to that. I wasn't trying to at all. I honestly didn't know if it credited since I wasn't getting the exceeded limit when I checked back in after my DH did it (and he didn't know I did one, honest mistake). I've never seen the issues with being able to get a survey after getting the exceeded limit page so I was completely perplexed and assumed they didn't credit for some reason so I took another. Anyway, I wasn't cheating. There, said it. I was (am) feeling a tad defensive about the whole thing.. especially when people start throwing out banning and stuff for something that wasn't done intentionally.

Well my husband technically did 2 and he always has a way easier time qualifying than I do. I guess they aren't as interested in 30(ish) year old white females. :) I'm sorry you couldn't get any yesterday. I do feel your pain. The one I did I had to really struggle to get.

I'm with you. I got credit for two surveys on Saturday. I didn't mean to, but I checked for the exceeded message and didn't get it. Honest mistake. I got the exceeded message all day yesterday even though I didn't do a survey yesterday, and I didn't get credit for yesterday. If I hadn't taken the second one on Saturday, I probably would have been able to try for one yesterday. It all works out in the end. I didn't clear cookies or change e-mail addresses. Sometimes stuff just happens.
Today I am getting the No Surveys available message. At least it is not telling me I already took one that I didn't!

That really is the problem with getting credits for multiple surveys... others have a harder time getting in. :( This issue actually came up a couple of months ago. I know I was getting credit for more than one after I took a second thinking my first didn't count.
Now, as long as I get back the congratulations page and get the message "you have exceeded", I don't check again for another 24 hours.
All in all, they seem to credit fine. :cooldance: More importantly, I realize, if I get credit for more than one, I may very well be taking a survey opportunity away from someone else. I'm definitely NOT saying this was my intention nor anyone elses... but I think that is the danger.

I just read through all of this. I don't think the intention was to single anyone out, I think it was more of a "warning" to anyone reading, I'm sure alot of people who are not regulars read these boards, then say, ah-ha! that's a loophole I can take advantage of. So it was just put out there to restate that people should be careful because we could lose the surveys alltogether. A mistake every once in awhile ok, but if it gets to be a daily thing, I'm sure red flags will be flying, and I'm sure NONE of us want them to go away or to hurt SR in any form.
And here is a :hugs: for you, sorry you felt that way. The same thing had happened to me btw, so now I have a notepad on my desk that logs date/who/email/survey/time finished.

I agree with cjlaura, I don't think it was a direct hit on you, but just a warning, bc unfortunately there are people out there who may want to take advantage of a situation. I can understand how upset it must make you feel.
I wouldn't worry about it, clearly you weren't trying to take advantge only make sure you had your survey in.
I think greenfield must have had server problems and may have used a previously backed up version which is why we're all having different issue's with surveys. When I check throughout the day I get the exceed and there is no opprotunity for me to try and take one until after 8 pm or so, other's like you are able to get more then one, and some are able to go about their business as usual. I'm also wondering since there are three different senerio's happening if it doesn't have something to do with the date we joined and a previous back up of their system. It's just too weird that there are different things going on.
I had 2 show up for credit on Friday dated the 19th, BUT I never did get my Thursday the 18th credit on Friday when everyone else did. That was about the start of the time greenfield was having issue's and Thursday is the night I did mine close to midnight. So even though I'm sure 2 credit's on the 19th, I think the system finally caught up since I never had one post for the 18th.

Let me just say that my intention was not to hurt anyones feelings or make anyone feel defensive. I didn't single anyone in particular out. It is my job as a moderator to make sure that you guys aren't doing things that will jeopardize your account or SR in general. This includes warnings against discussing cancellations, discussing prepaid cards or private phone numbers. It also includes letting you all know that it does require some record keeping on our parts for us to be able to continue to make money. If you guys are going to get involved with taking surveys you have to take some responsibility in making sure that you are all foloowing the rules. If that means that you have to keep track each day of the surveys and stop allowing others in the household to take surveys then so be it. If you have a system to take them that works for you and only allows for one survey a day then be all means continue to use it. No one was accusing anyone of trying to cheat or take advantage of the system. What was said is that Greenfield has every right to say that anyone getting more than one survey a day is cheating and we have no way to prove them wrong. The system is not perfect but we are agreeing to abide by their rules and it is each of our own responsibility to make sure that we are keeping track of our own surveys. Obviously Greenfields way of tracking doesnt work for us. I in no way wanted to accuse anyone of wrong doing. I just want to help you guys protect yourselves by knowing the rules. I hope that maybe I have explained myself a little better and helped you understand where I was coming from. That is not always an easy task in writing but unfortunately I have to give you the facts as I know them when something like this happens.

Taken directly from the front of Offers and Cancellations:
Discuss any of the offers that Sunshine Rewards lists as well as the contests it sponsors. The cancelling of offers cannot in any way be discussed under the forum rules. In addition, credit requests must be done through the Trouble Ticket system, not the forum or private messages.

Janet, you've done a great job explaining this and that is what your job as moderator is. She is no way pointing a finger, just letting everyone (especially any newbies) know the ramifications of taking more then one survey a day. The best rule of thumb would be NOT to take another survey if you get the congratulations page, that simple, even if you don't get the exceeded your limit page. Doing more then one does hinder other members being able to get a survey too.
That said, I will be meeting with Greenfield in a couple weeks. I will discuss all the problems that we are having with them and hopefully be able to get some clarificatioins for everyone. To date, they have not sited us for doing more then one survey a day per individual, but, we don't want that to happen and take a chance on losing them. They really help add up your credits and have some fun in the meantime.

Thank you! I understand. I don't answer my home phone if I don't recognize the number - I let it go to the answering machine. Doesn't make much difference if it is a private phone or my home phone - someone still has to leave a message if I don't know them. No matter which number they call, I will listen when I have the time, which is usually not at dinner time or the kids' bedtimes. I have actually not gotten very many calls - just lots of e-mails! :)

May I just state that you can check your private phone messages? Therefore, it's not actually fake, though it's easy for a convo about pp can start to SOUND like it's fake. To me, it's just less intrusive. Though I'm not really doing offers right now...broke the habit at Disneyland and just can't get back into it (surveys, too).
I haven't read the first two pages, but it looked like perhaps there was confusion over the status of the SR assistants? I've wondered for quite a long time why the moderators don't have a tag or have their names set off in a special way, so that anyone can see who they are, and not just think that a fellow board-member is speaking in a way that can see out of turn, if it's just another board-member. I don't know if that was the problem here, but it's something I've wondered for awhile.

I agree that it is a great tool and I use one for the stores I shop at the require phone numbers. However, discussing it is against forum rules. We are doing everything we can to avoid the appearance of fraud. SR doesn't advocate the use of private phone for doing offers because it is considered fraud by the advertisers. The use of it is at ones own discretion. The only part that SR can control is the discussion part.

Just an fyi, at the bottom of the main forum page there is a link View Forum Leaders...

Wow, up until now, I didn't even know there were moderators on the forum other than Tricia and Cindy! Thanks for the info and the link.

All 3 for yesterday???? I could never get one yesterday, just got the sorry there is no surveys at this point. :computer:
I never could get one yesterday either and I cleared my cookies AND used my dh's email address. I tried all day yesterday using either my email or my dh's email. I know I tried at least 60-70 times from 8am until 11pm.

Same here. I NEVER answer my home phone, period. And my cell phone they have to leave a message because I don't answer that unless it comes up with a name that I have programmed in. People are free to leave messages wherever they call me, though.

I have only gotten 8 surveys this month. I missed a day here and there but I am not getting the surveys offered to me like others are, and when I do get one, I don't qualify. I do try periodically throughout the day but it doesn't do any good. Same today, no surveys. I try using different email addresses and that doesn't work either. I clear my cookies all the time too. Any suggestions?

Sometimes I think it just depends on your demographics and what surveys are available. My DH qualifys for way more than I ever do. But even for him, it has been harder to qualify the last few weeks! Seems like everyone goes through this dry spell every few months. Hopefully they will load some new surveys soon and it will be a little easier for everyone!

You can have someone else in your house try. Just because it is your account doesn't mean that others in your house can not try for the surveys. My 9 yr old get surveys every once in a while, and my teenager and husband have done them also. Hope this helps ya some!! :)
