I got an email from Paypal with the following subject:
PayPal Account® Posible Fraud - Notification
Security check !
It has a link that takes me to a sign-on page for paypal and asked me to put in all my account info; address, phone, and ccard #. It says my Paypal account is locked until i do this. My gut tells me it is OK, but still i am leary answering an email with all that info.
The memo will not allow me to reply to it and i cannot find any other way to contact paypal to see if it is legit. The reason they said they sent the email is because i have used my account from 2 locations. I have always accessed the account from both work and home, so i do not know what the issue is.
I need to pay for a couple of ebay items i won last night, so i need to get this resolved asap. Anyone else ever had to do this for paypal?

I would never EVER enter "Paypal" through an email link. Go directly to the Paypal site and log in there. It smells like fraud to me.

Laura,
This is a time when your gut is wrong. Do NOT reply to this e-mail. Do not enter any of your information from this link. If you want you can forward the e-mail to Paypal and they will confirm that it is not from them. This e-mail is similar to all the "bank" e-mails that get sent out asking you to reenter your info so that they can confirm it's you.
Do NOT reply; either delete it or send it on to Paypal.

I got one of these about 18 months ago. It is called phishing. It is not from PayPal. When you hit that link if you notice it does not take you to anything close to paypal. com . You can still log into your paypal account.

PayPal will never ask you to do something that you can't complete by logging in to their site directly!
place your mouse cursor over the link in that email and across the bottom of your internet window, the site it's taking you to will show - you'll see that it's DEFINITELY not www.paypal.com
PayPal also has an email you can find on their site to forward these spam messages to so that they can be aware of them as well.
Bottom line, never fill out anything like that. If you think it's possibly real, go directly to the PayPal site, log in there and see if there are any updates or messages on your actual account.

Don't click that link!!!!! forward that email to spoof@paypal.com and delete it. 99.9% of the time when an ebay or paypal email is sent like this one its a phishing scheme and not from paypal or ebay. If you have a question I'd type in paypal.com or ebay.com from a new browser and get a phone number and call them or check and see if they have sent you an email on their site (usually there is the inbox system on each site).

Well do i feel foolish. I should have suspected something, as i remember getting an email like this from Citibank several years ago when phishing first started. You were right wdwabby, the link address was very suspicious.
Unfortunately I did click on the link, and entered the form by giving my email address and password. I have since changed my password, so I hope my account is still secure. I went to ebay from the SR link and made my payment through the Paypal link there with no problems at all.
Thanks folks for opening my eyes I guess I was still half asleep this morning when I saw it. Glad I at least had enough sense to question it. Cannot image how awful this could have been.

I get these periodically. I just delete them. I also got an email from supposedly my Disney Visa account, asking to verify an out of state purchase. I did NOT click on the link, instead called the 800 number on my card. It was NOT from my Visa. They asked me to forward them the email, which I did.
I get so tired of people scamming other people. How people can be so dishonest is beyond me....

ANY reputable company like paypal, ebay your banks, cc's etc will NEVER email you a link to log in and update your account. You ALWAYS should go through the website like you normally would.
Things like these I always delete and or forward to the company. My bank just posted a message last week about some emails going around asking you to update your acct by clicking on the link.
