I know sometimes around here it feels like we are giving you the third degree about offers and shopping that don't credit, but we had a case of such extreme dishonesty this week that it just breaks my heart.
In the email I sent out about the David's Cookies winners, I asked the winners to claim their prizes. I already knew who the winners were because we track submissions. I wanted, however, the winners to claim their prizes to be assured that people actually read the emails we sent out.
I had somebody claim a prize who didn't even submit an entry. Even when I pushed back on her and asked which one she submitted, she continued to be dishonest.
It was really a blow to me because I consider our group to be so tight-knit. I don't know if it was someone who posts in the forum or not. But to be dishonest like that just to get someone else's cookies? It's really sad.
Rest assured that we know that things don't credit sometimes and we really do try to get all of the credits. But we have to be a little bit skeptical if we want to stay in business because we DO have members who are trying to take advantage of us.

Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! I think you guys are doing just fine! Hope your week ends better than it started:D:hugs:
That makes me sick! Tricia, thanks for standing up for honesty. I appreciate that so much! I can't believe some people. I'm glad I've found a small place in the world that doesn't take that!

Oh my ... wow.
that's so disappointing - I can definitely see where you would be upset. I don't even understand how someone comes to think that's even a good idea :(
If they're willing to do that over COOKIES, I'd hate to think about what they'd do if it was a bigger prize :( Just take heart in the fact that it's just one person - and one bad apple doesn't always ruin the bunch!

WOW! Shocking that someone would do this. It wouldn't be that hard to track who sent in the original entry so why would someone even consider trying to do this? Not expecting an answer LOL just a rhetorical question. Just kind of reeling. I think that what some people need to start realizing is that this site is all about FREE money. Not money that they are entitled to. If a paid offer is done it should be done because it is a prodict or service you want. Then if you get credit it is a plus and if you don't then you haven't lost anything because you would have spent the money anyways. With the Free money thing in mind and the fact that SR does so many wonderful things for its members I can't believe that ANYONE would try to take advantage of this kindness. Shocking and that person should feel pretty ashamed of themselves for being so dishonest. I'll get off of my soap box now and also leave you guys with the thought that I am so proud of all of the members that we have that are VERY honest and don't take advantage of situations where they could have. One that comes to mind was the last cashout where people were sent extra cards and reported it right away instead of just keeping. Also, those times when people get more credit or extra credit for offers they shouldn't have gotten and report it right away. THOSE are the kinds of members that make SR so wonderful!

That is truly too bad. They must have thought they were SOME cookie! I love this site very much, and it saddens me that people cannot just be honest. I don't think there are any other reward sites that have this sort of family type feel. And to have someone do that is a stab in the back.
You are doing a great job Tricia. And it is quite understandable that you have to be on your toes about all of us. I NEVER question if I do not get credit for something. (I might be disappointed, but not with you) I KNOW that you are honest and not going to cheat us. Everyone here needs to give you that same respect.

It might not have been just about the cookies. If someone is being that dishonest, and obviously you (Tricia) have the means to know the truth, I would have to say that their intentions here are not for the good. And as one stated earlier it takes just a few bad apples to turn something good rotten.

That is just so SAD!!! That someone feels like they have to stoop that LOW to get some free cookies????? Please!
It also re-enforces that some people are just plain stupid! Come one doesn't she know she can be tracked? Same with who the actual winners were?
I'm with Janet, it only takes on bad apple, but then for every ONE bad apple there are 40 others who will speak up with they received extra GC's, or an extra survey or shopping credit.
I know you have to be on your guard, especially as a business woman, that just really sucks!

That's sad, hopefully that person will read all of our comments and realize exactly how we feel about dishonesty, and learn from it. Perhaps, it wasn't really about the cookies, but just to cause trouble. I can't imagine anyone being that naiive in thinking you wouldn't know. And to think that others are trying to take advantage of offers and credits is unbelievable considering the amount of free money we all have an opportunity to earn is even more terrible.
On a lighter note, I think I'm gonna order some of those cookies, because they must be really good! :rotfl: Tricia, just think, what someone meant for your bad just might turn out to be good if this generates more orders for David's Cookies through SR.
Try not to let it upset you and have a wonderful and blessed day!:hugs:

Oh goodness! I just assumed that she was banned. I like to believe in the goodness of people also, but unless she had some REALLY REALLY REALLY good excuse (and I'm not sure what that could possibly be in this case...), I don't think I'd give a second chance. Some people are just too stupid for me to understand. Why would you lie about writing a haiku for some cookies? I'm not saying the cookies weren't a great prize but in the scheme of things what makes you think that would be a good idea? It reminds me of the lady that lied about her fiance dying in 9/11 and was the head of the one of the groups or the lady who lied about being pregnant with multiples so she could get a bunch of free stuff and press. What the heck? I just don't understand what one must be thinking when they decide that it would be a good idea to blatantly lie.

While it bothers me about this person's dishonesty, what bothers me more is this thread about it. Honestly Tricia, I don't think this is anything that should have gone past you. Yes, I can understand this bothers you and you would want to talk about it. I just don't feel that it's appropriate for a site owner to discuss the actions of one member to the rest of the site membership. Just my opinion.

sunshine is like a close knit family and everyone should feel free to talk about anything they need to. I think tricia does a great job with this site and keeping everyone informed of what's going on thank her for this.

I agree. It's not like she's shouting someone's name or personal info... just sharing what happened.

I think that part of the reason it was related was to stress to the rest of the membership a few points:
1. She does in fact verify all information.
2. She has put many of the aggravating rules in place around here for a reason.
3. Dishonesty on SR will not be tolerated for any reason
I think it is far more distasteful for a member to blatantly lie and try to cheat out not only Tricia but the person who actually earned that prize than the fact that Tricia wanted to inform her members of the situation and let everyone know it will NOT be tolerated. I don't care who the person is and don't really want to know identifying information. It is more important for me that there is someone out there who is being not only a liar but a thief. Would you prefer that Tricia advocate lying and cheating? I respect your opinion in the matter but I for one appreciate the fact that Tricia is so candid with the membership. I always know where she stands in her values and opinions and I don't have to wonder if she is going to do things that aren't on the up and up that could cause me to lost the money I have worked for. It is her ability to be so candid that has helped me to know her values and where she stands.

Tricia has not disclosed any personal information - name, whether it is a long time user or a new person, etc - to this forum. She just vented about a situation about an anonymous person. There is NO way we would know who this person is. She owns this site, and if she cannot vent about it in her own forum, with her own group of reward buddies, then it would not be the site that it is today. We all vent about our work, home, kids, etc. And we all can sympathize with others. That is what makes it such a great site. There is always someone here, somewhere that can relate and understand when no one else in our physical world does.
I also like that fact that she DID discuss this in the forum, because that will give other people a heads up about cheating. It will not be tolerated here.

Unfortunately there are bad eggs out there and I'd like to know what they are doing and that SR is noticing them and taking appropriate action. There are so many other sites out there that are giving their membership bad information that someone needs to step up and tell us the truth and what will not be tolerated. While this person was not cheating on an offer they cheated on a forum game prize which is just as bad in my opinion and if they are willing to do that then they are probably doing other fraudulent things around here. Disclosing this to the membership allows those that might be thinking of doing something similar a chance to rethink that and know that it will not be tolerated in any manner.

I applaud Tricia for informing us all at SR about what happened. She didn't use names. The person that tried to steal the cookies knows who he/she is and I hope they are reading this and feel ashamed of themselves, although I doubt it. He/she has probably been cheating and lying about everything else on SR too. I think it's great Tricia that you thought enough of us honest members to tell us this. Whoever this person is, they need to suffer some punishment. Maybe he/she should have the money they have accumulated on offers taken from him/her for trying to steal from SR and an SR member.

I think that I am going to lock this thread and the poll one until Tricia comes one and let her decide then whether to keep them locked or not. I think most people have voiced their opinion and I'm concerned that one or both could end up becoming offensive to one or both sides of the coin.

Well, while you are certainly entitled to your opinion, we feel its best for our membership to understand the ramifications for any cheating on this site. We won't tolerate a members undercutting another member, or cheating the advertisers. While other sites advocate these type of things, we do not and we want our members to know that we have zero tolerance here for lying and cheating. If someone does not want to conform to those standards, they can join a different site.

Thanks for your feedback. I know we do things over here a little different than other sites, too. It's difficult to balance the needs of 7000 different people adequately. My approach is to allow the members to actually be a part of the decisions here so that they feel like they have a vested stake in the continuity and success of the site. Some people may not feel comfortable about that, but it is a big part of who I am.

I think it was fair what Tricia did. She did not give out any information and it was sort of a warning to other people who might try something. NOOOT that anyone else would on this board.
