okay I asked earlier this week what a 6 year old boy likes to read now I am asking what they like to wear. I was going to get something off Gymboree when I placed an order this morning but got to thinking that may be to girly. :) Is there brands boys like at 6? Thanks

LOL- funny what you said. I just shopped Gymboree the other day and my 6 year old had a heyday telling me what he likes and doesn't like. He liked the athletic pants and those long sleeved tops that look like two layered tops. The order came yesterday and he was QUITE proud showing off his new duds.

Hmmm...I guess it depends a lot on the boy. Here are some consistent things from my boys though:

-they like jeans or cargo pants
-they hate sweat pants/dress pants
-they like regular shirts better than shirts with collars
-they like things with animals/vehicles/sports on it

I'm sure other people have boys who are totally the opposite, but that's been our experience! :)

Well... my boys like ONLY sweats. They like the comfort, PLUS they are very serious about.....gym class. :rotfl: Of course they do wear jeans, but prefer sweats (I call them swishees - you know, the ones that make the swish, swish sound.)

They love sweatshirts and jerseys that have their favorite sports team on it, but that can get pricey. And MOST of all, my boys LOVE anything with an underarmor label. A t-shirt with one of those underamor shirts underneath (or the generic ones) would be perfect. Now my boys are older than 6, but they have consistently stayed the same since 6. (Except my oldest is starting to dress a little more nicer....err...not sweats as often!

Oh my gosh that is so funny about the pants. When I first got married I said "swishy pants" to my husband and he looked at me like I was speaking a different language. He asked if I called all my clothes the noise they made. Maybe it's an Ohio phrase as that's where I'm originally from:rotfl:

OP--I have a six year old boy and he's into graphic cotton shirts. They can have just about anything on them as long as it's not Elmo or something like that. He's skinny so he's not a fan of the swishees:) . They don't stay up on him. If you're looking for pants I would say make sure they have the adjustable waist band to make them more comfortable.

My DS8 has always been in favor of the swishy's! lol But he's also serious about gym and very athletically inclined. He also likes anything with sports like football, basketball on his shirts. Kohls has the And One line.
I get most of his stuff from Kohls or Sears. He would prefer to wear long sleeve tshirts and swishy pants, but at 6 he was letting me pick out his clothes everyday for school and that usually was jeans and a nice sweater/shirt.

That is so funny about the swishy pants. My 17 yr old loves those pants. And I HATE that noise. Especially about midnight when he makes another run to the fridge! :rotfl:

I would have to agree, they love the graphic tees. And adjustable pants are a must! Good luck! It is always hard to shop for other peoples children!!

Hmmm. What does that say about my DH that he likes to dress like a 6/8/11 year old? Ha ha...He loves the swishy pants and sweats and can't live without his underarmour.

Dee, this is why I picked a 6 yr old girl. I have no idea what a 6 yr old boy likes.

Yea.... I do tend to call things on how they "sound". My clog type shoes are my clonky shoes. My swishy sweats are my swishees (DH calls them that too. Even when we shop for the kids he will ask me "where are the swishy pant section?") I even call the round spongy thing that you wash with my mushy thing. I know there are more terms that I use, but I just cannot think of any right now.

See what you guys call "sweat pants" are called warm up pants or wind pants here. Sweat pants are cotton and have the elastic on the bottom of the leg- those are what my boys hate.

They like the other ones but only for sports and gym. :)

Anyway, so my DS8 keeps asking for a "stretchy" shirt that you wear under your shirt??? Is that what underarmour is??

Yep that is underarmour. My son wears them for baseball and football. He also runs everyday and wears it under his sweatshirt when it is cold out!

me too..And I'm in Ca. I have a six yr old boy, who cares about what he wears. LOL, I always put undershirts on him, usually just plain white t-shirts, and often I have put on an old white shirt with Winnie the Pooh on it, lol and recently I found that shirt hidden in the back of his closet. He got upset, and finally told me that he hated wearing that shirt. :( I about wanted to cry. LOL And just this morning, I tried to put a beanie cap on his head, and he was so upset, and said "MOOOOOM I LOOK LIKE A DOOFUS!" :rotfl: I really wanted him to wear it, But my Dh said to just let him wear his hood from his jacket, because he knows what it's like...LOL He tells me these horror stories of how his mom dressed him, and how he got made fun of while he was wearing all his older brother's hand me downs. So now I think he tries to make sure we allow our son to be COOL. :rotfl: ANYWAY...On that note, I recommend...OLD NAVY!!! I love them, my son loves them!! They have really nice stuff, it's not too expensive, in Style, and WE GET CREDIT HERE AT SR!!!! YAY!!!:p

Your son sounds a lot like my DS8, fashion is so important to him!! He loves looking good and is very picky about what he wears. The only time I can even get him to wear Disney stuff is at WDW

I agree, Old Navy is perfect for boys. It fits with so many different styles and is comfy and stylish too!

Ok, did someone say something about underarmour that is not that brand?? Like cheaper maybe?? I just priced a shirt for my DS8 and it was $40!! Wear can I get it cheaper??

I know Wal-Mart sells a version of underarmour. I don't know the name of it. But, DH says it works just as well as the underarmour, but at a fraction of the cost. As soon as he gets home, I will find out the brand name for you.

While we have a couple underarmor brand stuff, most of ours is walmart. The boys like them just as much. And I like the price MUCH better.

I will have to look at Old Navy. How did I not know SR has them?????
