This is the first offer that I've done that has asked for this information. I'm a little leary of putting this in as so many of our financial accounts use this information to confirm that you are the account holder. I backed out and didn't do the survey - not sure if I can mention which one it is for so I'll just say it's for an outdoor clothing/footwear/etc. company.

Is it an actual survey through the daily surveys or one of our offers? I wouldn't give that out either.

Hi Tricia -

It is for offer ID2128 for .50 (I hope I can say that without getting into trouble. )

Thanks.

Interesting. I guess I didn't get that far. I did the first couple of pages with all of the basic contact information.

I have not done this offer yet but I am thinking its similar to some of the other offers I have seen in the past where its a screen that asks for this info and you can't skip it. I usually close out of it once I get to that point. Normally when they are asking for that sort of info is when they want to sign you up for something like the phone services people accidently sign up for here and there.

Oh and this one has fine print on page 2 so read closely: I authorize Bid4Prizes to send a text message to my cell phone containing details on how to complete my entry. Standard text messaging rates may apply.

Thanks for the heads-up on that. I just added a line to the offer so that people will be vigilant.

I will say that I did not get the mother's maiden name and I wonder if its because I unclicked that box. It might be related you know.

I just tried this one again and the request for the mother's maiden name is down on page 3 (the page with the promise of $1,000 worth of coupons)

Here's the "cut and paste":

"For your protection and as a security measure they ask that you provide them with your mother's maiden name. Please enter your mother's maiden name here:
Please enter your Mother's Maiden Name: "

After reading this one again, you can "skip this step," for the page that asks for the name so I went ahead and finished with no problems.

(I also unclicked the box for the text message to my cell phone on both attempts with this offer and answered no to all questions on the 2nd page (1st page was just my email address). So, no clue why it sometimes asks for mom's name and not others. Weird.)

When I did that one, there was a small skip this offer or something like that. And I just went on my way to the next offer and so on. I never give out my mom's maiden name with something like that.

I ran into this also and most of the info was filled in already - it asked for mom's maiden name which is when my antennae went up,,,under that it said something about am I authorized to make changes to my current phone service...will be billed 12.95 per month for voice mail service....which is when I unchecked the box and deleted all info...THEN I noticed the small and very faint button at the bottom which said 'skip this step'. Glad for the heads ups from everyone!! This would have been an easy mistake to make and find on future phone bills---which equals headaches!!

It would seem to me that they should never have a reason to ask you for your mother's maiden name unless they are securing some type of order or payment. It was smart of you to back out of it.

Well, this just posted for me (without the maiden name)...so all is good.

Thanks.
