I just joined Restaurant.com and purchased my first gift certificate! Easy as pie, I was scared to try and that's what kept me from a purchase until today. I had a $25 SR gift to use towards a purchase from way back on January 4 (it was a super member gift) that had to be used within a year. A new restaurant just opened two weeks ago right across the street from my house...I saw it was a new restaurant on the site, so I had to go for it!! I think this site can become addictive! ;) OK, Tricia...anytime you want to send another Restaurant.com gift...I won't wait so long to cash it in!! :rotfl:

you're welcome! I was just looking at the restaurants at Disney, I just might have to get one of those too! :D

The one that I just bought had "no expiration" printed on it, does anyone know if they are all like that or do some have expiration dates?

From what I understand, they used to expire and will not anymore. :)

LOL. I've never tried them. But a resturant across the street would entice me also. :rotfl:

We used ours on vacation in AZ this summer(no places near us). Easy peasy. I've already purchased a couple for our trip to WDW in the fall.

Which ones did you get for Disney? I think I might get one for Shula's, we've eaten there once before and it was very good. I saw one for the Japanese restaurant too that I think I'll get too. I just hope they don't send me ones that come with an expiration date on them since we won't be going until May but since Tricia says they don't do that anymore, I guess I'll go ahead and get them now and put them away.

I love using restaurant.com.

That said- I bought 3 for our 2 week road trip last summer and 2 of the 3 were out of business when we got there! Thankfully I bought them with a 80% off code so I wasn't out much but my budget was shot for that day because we had to spend more somewhere else.

But I have used many more certificates and love trying new places for much cheaper.

Even when they did expire, they always were good for at least a year...no worries!!

If a rest. goes out of business you can get in touch with rest.com, and they will let you exchange the cert. for another on the site. I don't know what the limitations of this are though. I have never actually done it, but I do know that is their policy.

I use Rest.coom quite often actually. Quite a few new restaurants in our area have been added in the past year of so. I have also bought them for travel and they have worked out great. I always research reviews for the ones I have bought for out of town, and I have never been disappointed!

For Disney-I've already gotten HoB-can't wait! As they don't participate in the dining plan, we've never gone there. Now, with the certificate, it'll be fairly cheap.

The other one I have is for-Garden Grove. Dining with characters is always fun even if I'm not usually a fan of buffets. Thinking about Shula's too. Even if we end up not using them, I'm not out a bunch of $.

Now, if Paradiso would just participate, I'd be a happy woman....:minnie:

Of course you should surprise him! I went to ours a couple of weeks ago and had an awesome salad and cookie ice cream dessert. Their food is surprisingly good.

Sounds good! I just looked at the Disney menu and it looks really good, they must have changed it because I've looked at it in the past and there was nothing that I was interested in eating but now I can find a few things. I didn't see any cookie ice cream dessert though but I don't usually eat dessert so that doesn't really matter.

My DD8 and I went to HoB in August and we liked the food too. I thought it was a bit spendy (maybe it was the lemondes that were expensive?)so it was really nice having the certificate. DD thought the place was so cool. We both had pulled pork sandwhiches and I added the sweet potato fries. Grub.

I have only used one of these certificates and I really didn't see a savings. We went to a Steak House for lunch, four of us, no one meal was over 15 dollars, no dessert, and my bill was over $60. I just hope they messed up the check. We had guest with us and I hated to cause a stink. But I don't think a lunch at a Steak House for 4 people should be $85. I have been gun shy since.

I find we do have to order a little more sometimes when it is Mike and I but when it is my girlfriends and I we do just fine because we like to graze on food rather than just eat an entree. We mainly use it for sushi restaurants but have tried a few others here and there.

As the owner of a restaurant, I encourage not only you but everyone never to be afraid to question your bill. Mistakes can and do happen. I always examine my bill and speak to the server if I feel it is incorrect.

One thing to keep in mind is that with most restaurants on restaurant.com, a gratuity of 18 - 20% is automatically added to the bill. It's stated right on the gift certificate under terms and conditions. Sounds Like that may have happened to you?? 4 x $15 meals = $60 + $11 (18%) = $71.....add in any beverages, state and local taxes...you are close to $85.

no credit for me but I went through the link in the email....I should have gone through SR but it was my first time ordering with them and I had no idea what to expect. My guess would be no credit even if I did because you are not purchasing anything.

I had no idea so many WDW restaurants were listed!!!!!!!!

I bought 2 for Bluezoo (it was our favorite place during our 2008 trip), 1 for Shula's and a $50 HoB one. AWESOME.

I bought 2 for local places and used one tonight. What a cheap date for DH and I! $25 for tons of Chinese food (after tip).
