View Full Version : Duplication of Offers

We were recently informed by one of our advertisers that they are taking back a number of credits for some of our offers. Most of these were from people doing offers multiple times.

As a result, we would like to ask that people not redo offers for at least 30 days. It looks like redoing offers quickly is not only causing us to get credits reversed but it is flagging some of your IP addresses so that we are losing credits for legitimate signups as well.

I know as well as you do how unfair it is when we don't get credit for things that we sign up for legitimately. Unfortunately, it's just a part of the way that these rewards sites run--all of them. We try to at least minimize the problems by pulling offers that are the biggest culprits. But in the end, there is only so much we can do in order to keep the offers open to the people that they DO work for.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation in this. It will save us all a lot of headaches.

Will do. Is there any way (sorry Kevin!) you could update the pending script to prevent that, or have a reminded at the top of the pending page?)

Just to clarify, right now we do credit offers and put them in our pending file. Some credit, some just sit there. If I understand you correctly, you mean to not retry any offer sitting in the pending file for 30 days?

That is correct. I will update all stickies that say otherwise.

Thanks for the reminder and clarification of the rules.

I agree- there were a couple I retried to try and get that credit. I'm sorry!

Thanks for the reminder and I will be sure to leave things alone for 30 days!

Makes sense, and most that are in my pending I dont even try until it's been a month bc their the ones I usually can't get to credit anyway!

The only time(s) I've redone them are the MID's bc they always credit usually, but now I'll know, leave them alone for 30 days!

It is always tempting to retry the free offers, especially when you read so many others are getting fast credits...I know I am guilty of trying a free offer sooner than 30 days!! I agree that crazy credits made us all a little CRAZY too...

It is like an addiction...I WILL GET CREDIT :type:

Thanks for the update Tricia!

I did a couple of offers a couple of times during the crazy credit thing, hoping it would credit. Sorry about that. I usually wait until at least 30 days afterwards, but I guess the excitement got to me. Very sorry about it.

I am also guilty of this since I tried several times on a few offers to see if I could get them to credit. I promise not to do it again even for a Crazy Credit contest. I never seem to win anyway no matter how many entries I have.

Forgive me Sunshine Admins for I have sinned...I have done free offers more than one because I am greedy & I wanted credit.

I have learned from my wayward ways. I will do my penance.

You forgot to tell us how many Our Fathers & Hail Marys you did.

After that contest I'm thinking I need to pull out my grandma's rosary and warm up those beads a bit!!

Add me to the list. I tried a few ofers several times during the crazy offer contest. I promise to leave the pending offers alone for 30 days. They usually don't credit anyway. However, I do have a problem. Yesterday, I removed all my pending offers except those that I tried this past week. I hope my notebook is up to date.

I don't think Tricia was making this into a confessional (though I'm sure she's glad yall are taking it a) seriously and b) in good spirit) so don't feel the need to apologize or feel bad. I'm actually happy Tricia is willing to share what she learns from the advertisers with us so that we can all learn and maximize our credits.

Back to our regularly scheduled penance ;)

Well I didn't want to be too sacrelgious!! (insert Catholic guilt here!) But since you asked, I'll do 5 Hail Marys, 3 Our Fathers & 1 Glory Be.

lets say I am in the middle of the doing the offer and my computer freezes up as it so often does, should I still wait the 30 days to try again if I don't get credit?

VERY good question. I would like to know the answer to that too!

This is merely my opinion on the subject and is not law LOL. I believe that Tricia has said before that if there is something that keeps you from completing the offer correctly then you can redo it. This would only include technical issues or perhaps you accidently put an invalid email address. If you enter all of your information and get to the end. You are done for 30 days LOL.

See normally I would agree but in this case with advertisers flagging by IP address and revoking credits based on that I would probably wait 30 days even with a technical difficulty.

Hate to ask because I know 30 days is 30 days...but since this is based on IP address....what if you do the offer at work, but it doesn't credit...can you try from home or should I just stick w/30 days is 30 days, period??

For simplicity I would go with 30 days is 30 days no matter where you did it at.

Question - if my individual account were to be affected by this credit revocation, would it have happened by now?! Or what?

Alot of the times when this happens Tricia just takes the hit in her revenue and doesn't revoke it in our accounts. I think if it starts happening a lot then she'll quit taking the hit and reverse it from our accounts.

Hope that helps.

Yeah that helps. But wow - that's not what I would have expected her to do!I mean, if I did something in error that caused some of my credits to be revoked I feel like I should take the hit in my individual account. Not that I would like it! But I feel like that would be fair.

Catherine is right. I usually only revoke them if either 1) the offer had a really big payout, or 2) you have multiple offers revoked.

Do you mean as in shopping & returning or doing an offer? If you shop and return then Tricia will revoke the credit only when the merchant revokes it from her.

no, i was questioning whether it's a problem to do multiple purchase from a vendor

not the type where you get a $bonus for shopping ala the shoebuy $9 one...

more so, the type where you earn a % (plus applicable 1 credit for contests) say several disneyshopping orders during a month's time:confused:

missymouse
01-29-2008, 08:49 AM
I don't think multiple orders from a particular store are part of this. Those are rebates for money you spent on merchandise. I can't imagine any shopping site would only want you to order one time.

oh ok. No the merchants don't care how many times you shop with them in a month. Its more like trying to do the same brandarama 3 times in a week to get credit is causing the problem.
