I am by know means computer-ese literate. I do know that I am only capable of using a dynamic IP address from hughes.net, my provider. This means I have a different IP address every time I restart my computer.

Out of curiousity, I have started to google "what is my IP address" every time I restart. I indeed get different addresses, and some of these have repeated.

Now I am sure there are other hughes.net users out there using other reward sights and the odds of the same IP address going after the same offer are probably pretty good.

Is this contributing to what advertisers are objecting to? I cannot do the offers from my work computer, as the filter blocks anything that is advertising, games, or "illegal or questionable" content.

Am I out of luck? Should I not do the offers? I would hate to get SR in trouble......:(

I think most people have dynamic ip's as from what I remember in my computer days static ip's cost more to have and they are mainly used for terminal server connections (when one computer "dials into" another to access a program or database). So while I can't answer your question from a SR perspective I can tell you that you are not the only one out there - actually I think most of us are in your shoes.

They don't come right out and specifically tell us what they look at, but I have the feeling that they are looking for multiple uses of the same IP addresses. A lot of them keep lists to see where people are coming from, what information they give, etc. and they cross reference them. Some of our advertisers track by a combination of the cookie on your computer and the IP address.

While we don't get paid for all of the paid clicks and emails because of multiple instances of the same IP address, we just factor that into our business cost. So if you just so happen to hit the same IP as another SR member a couple of times, so be it. I think they are looking more at things like the same freebie offer being done on the same IP address dozens of times in a short time frame.
