HELP! I booked an Alamo midsize car for our May trip using a FREE DAY coupon in the 2010 entertainment book. I booked months ago and got a really good price....well I threw that book out when I got the new 2011 book and never cut that coupon out, now the price of that same car is up $90 more, I'm having a heart attack now :(.....does anyone with lasts years 2010 book still have that free day rental coupon that they aren't going to use and can help me out? It was still good until the end of June even though the book expired.

I know they sometimes don't even ask for coupons but it would be my luck that they would this time and I would have to pay that day's price for a rental car.

Can't help you with a coupon, Pam, but if you go on Alamo's website a little closer to the date you are leaving, they often have special deals. When we went in February, I almost cut my original ressie in half by looking at last minute deals on their site. Also, make sure you join their special club if you aren't already in it. When I make a ressie using that club number, it gives me a discount. If all else fails, look on mousesavers and such sites for other discount codes. You might be surprised what you find. Good luck!

Oh I check all the time right up to the day before we leave. I THINK I'll be ok with this one though because when I made the reservation I used that "free day" coupon from last years book but just recently within the last month I got an email from BJ's and I tried their coupon code and it brought it down a little more. So I actually used the ID# from the EB but the coupon came from BJ's. I'll bring both cards with me just in case and play dumb if they give me a hard time, I'm really good at playing dumb! :D

Have you checked to see if there is a coupon on EB's website? It's worth a shot at least.

I have the new 2011 book and when I plugged in the new Alamo coupon for the free day...it goes up $90! If I use this years EB ID# plus the BJ's coupon it goes up $70. I think because the prices have all gone up since I booked it that what ever codes I use it will be a lot higher than what I have now...I'm going to keep checking up until we go and see what I get, if not I'll keep it the way it is and take my chances. The BJ's coupon that I used is a current one and I think they look for the coupons that you use, I'll have my BJ's ID card with me to prove that I'm a member, so I think I'll be ok.

If you check in at the kiosk, I'm thinking you have a good shot of not showing any proof. Just thinking, but I'm not an expert.

That's what we always do since they installed those...DH doesn't ever remember them asking for any sort of coupon etc. when we use them. I should be fine, I was in panic mode when I started the thread earlier, the more I think about it the more I'm not worried about it. ;)
