I was just adding the Green Bags offer and remembered something funny DD4 said.

Apparently the girls have been watching infomercials a lot lately because they have been saying weird things. Like while I was digging in my purse, DD7 said in a very announcer-like voice something like "Do you have trouble finding things in your purse? Do you need organization?"

Anyway, I was putting away the groceries and separating out fresh veggies that needed to be pitched before I put the new ones in the drawer. I was talking about how I couldn't believe the carrots were already slimy. DD4 says, "Mommy, did you know that there are ways to keep your vegetables from going bad? They are green bags that will make your vegetables last AT LEAST 10 days."

I looked at her at first like "WTF?" Then it hit me....the Green Bags commercials!!!

I have been waiting for these things. I swear I watch that commercial and thing "Man I need those things!" I have been buying so much produce and I end up throwing Bananas away like crazy.

The reviews on them are so-so. But the deal we got is good enough that you won't feel like you spent too much if you end up not liking them as much as you had hoped.

Hey if they give me 3 extra days I will be happy. It seems the last 3 bananas always get tossed. So if I get 3 days I will feel like I got my moneys worth LOL even though I will probably pay more than I would for 3 bananas and I could just remove 3 bananas from the bunch and not buy them LOL

ALong the same lines DD5 kept asking for (what I interpreted as) Girl Cush Stek Style, she said it so fast that's all I could make out. When I asked her to slow it down, I understood Streak N Style. Hadn't heard of it but that's what she wanted from Santa. So figuring she saw it on TV I asked her to call me the next time it was on, she comes running to get me, I catch the ad it's (made by) "Girl Crush" called Streak N Style! But man everytime someone asked her what she wanted she repeated it and sounded just like that darn commerical! She just asked me today why Santa didn't bring her Quick Jems by Conair! lol
I swear whoever writes these ads sure know what their doing!

OMG!!! DD4 asked Santa for Quick Jems by Conair and I ordered it with only 7 days to spare from HSN!!!

I'm just as bad thought. Directtv had some kind of informerical marathon on a couple of weeks ago and I literally had to turn the TV off to keep from ordering the stuff.

I just wanted to chime in and give my review of the green bags. I ordered some off of Ebay awhile back and they actually work pretty well. The drawbacks are they didn't come with any ties (or at least mine didn't) and you have to wash them out before you use them again and it takes a while for them to dry out. But they did keep the fruits and veggies fresher longer, but not quite as long as they claim.

I ordered them, got the upgraded bags that zip, and also the jumbo bags. If its going to save on my veggies and fruits, I'm all for it. they also have the red bags for meat and the bread bags that they offer you during your purchase. Can't wait to get them.

OMG!!! DD4 asked Santa for Quick Jems by Conair and I ordered it with only 7 days to spare from HSN!!!

That's too funny. Dd5 was sitting in my lap today and said, "Mommy you have a lot of those things on your face." She was talking about acne and I was thinking GREAT!! I love the way our kids examine us so closely. I prefer them not to! My DD examines my face weekly. She informs me that the clear mole that I have on my cheek really needs off. She says I need to go to the doctor or use that stuff on TV.

And everytime she sees either an organizer or cleaner product on TV, "Mom, you REALLY need that." Thanks dear....I love you too....:rotfl:

I already had PedEgg on my to order list, but DD9 suggested it, last wk. So, I ordered it (went with the 2 plus the foot cream) and she has already asked if I have got it, yet.

When DD12 was like 3-4, we would go down the grocery aisles and she would do commercials for cereal, poptarts, anything that caught her eye and ran ads on kid channels. Her memory was amazing. She is proof that your memory starts going as you get older because she always "forget" to do something or the other that I have told her to do.:rotfl:

I saw the green bag ads, this wk, and was hoping we would get them, here. Like Janet, if they just kept bananas a couple days more, they would start earning our keep. But, I have been looking for something to keep celery freash, for quite awhile. DD12 loves it so I buy it and cut it, right away but it always end up yucky before she eats it all.

I absolutely love these! I bought my first bunch a couple of years ago from QVC and I've found they work really well. With just DD and I, veg and fruit was always spoiling before we could eat it all. Now things just last and last! Finally I buy the biggest bag of baby carrots and actually eat them all before they spoil.

I never missed the ties... just twist the top and fold under. I'm going to check out the offer and reorder. Thanks, Tricia!

I'm going to check out the offer! I have a newer fridge, so my crisper works really well at keeping things fresh in the fridge, but I have the same problem with the bananas, and I run out of time to always be making banana bread!

Here's what I do...when the bananas start to get too soft, I peel them and cut them into thirds or forths, then freeze them. They are great to add to smoothies or shakes straight from the freezer! Whenever I have just one left over, or I have a few and know I won't have time to make a bread or muffins, I freeze them. It is nice to have them on hand!

I received my green bags last month and have been using them for a week or so. So far, I'm really impressed and glad I purchased them!! The vegetables really do seem to be lasting longer! I put a cut cucumber in one last Wednesday and it still looks and tastes great-it looks like I just cut it today- no browning at all.
I think another thing is that it is forcing me to eat better. After grocery shopping, I go through everything I bought and clean it and cut it up and put in the bags. It keeps me more aware of the veggies and since I have "prepped" them, it's easier to grab a veggie for a snack! I would definitely give them a thumbs up!

Actually I didn't either... but thought why not try it! lol I just checked it again and I had half a cucumber that I had cut and it still looks good. I also had good luck with sliced mushrooms and cut up cauliflower. I haven't tried strawberries yet.

Janet- I was just reading the instructions with the bags :rotfl:

It says "The Convenience size if perfect to preserve freshness of cut fruit and vegetable snacks at school, work or on the road, or keeping those last few small items fresh at home. Use a variety of sizes to split up prepared salads or for portion control."

There is a LONG list of fruits and veggies that can be stored in the bags- just about everything including cut flowers.

Cindy if you see a credit hanging around for this it is probably mine LOL I can't file a TT because they don't send out confirmation emails but I just wanted to give a heads up in case one shows up and you don't know who it belongs to. I got the bags on Monday and I haven't had a chance to look at them or use them yet but I doubt I would want to use them more than 10 times. I would bet I wouldn't even use them more than 5 times. But then again I don't keep plastic containers as long as other people either :rotfl:

oh ok. So they are different than what I was imagining. Ok. Well I'll still give them a shot. i'm tired of throwing out fresh asparagus because I'm too lazy to make it within 2 days of buying it.

I've had them for about a month and I find they work well for somethings better then others. They work great for lettece, grapes and strawberries. I didn't see much of improvement for banana's or tomato's.

I think that the number of times you can use each one will depend on what you put in them. If it is something like a whole avocado, whole cucumbers or something like that, I think you would get more use out of one bag. If it's something that would over time eventually get mushy/ wet then I wouldn't think as many uses. But might just be personal preference too- if you are one that doesn't mind washing ziploc bags every so often, might not be a problem. Might depend too on how long you leave the stuff in the bag... I mean it won't stay good forever no matter what lol.

I would think a bag used for something like asparagus would last you more than 10 times though.

I did this when the offer was first up. Appearently they lost my order in cyberspace bc I had opened a TT but never received confirmation or billed, so I just let it drop thinking if it was meant to be it would have gone through.
Then a few weeks later I was charged got an email and they arrived. I had to open another TT to get credit but I did get it.

I also have to say that my bananas are lasting A LOT LONGER now that I keep them in a green bag. DD 4 is the only one who really eats them and I actually have to keep one or two out of the bag to rippen up for her to eat bc the bag does a great job of not letting them get brown/black too fast.
