Hi!
I have a friend of mine here at working trying to sign up as a new member. I know that nothing is blocking the site because I can access it.
When she goes to sign up, on her screen it says you must be setup to allow cookies, I compared my IE7 settings to hers and they are the same. She thinks that she may have had an account a some time, so when she tries to log in with what she her old email address is, she gets a message that she has a bad username.
She tried to create a new account because she doesn't remember if she was a member way back when and it won't let her sign up.
Does anyone have any suggestions? She emailed for help, but I thought someone might have some ideas here.
Thanks!

My sister signed on months ago and she has never been able to get on either. She logs in and gets the "bad user name" comment as well. She too has tried to set up a new acct (has never been able to get on w/the old one) but it won't allow it. She has also checked the password- it is correct but she isn't able to get on.
You are not alone! I keep telling her to contact SR when she has a chance. Curious to see who else has this problem.

If someone tries to set up an account and you have logged in under that same computer or even IP address, it will prevent them from signing up there. Might that be it?

If you guys are at the same IP address at work you can't both have an account. Most advertisers track by IP address so you can only have one account per IP Address. Each account can have many IP addresses so you could sign on at home and at work but once your account has been connected to the work IP address then your co-worker can't sign up on that one. She would have to wait until she gets home and she would not be able to access SR when she is at work or both your account and hers will be flagged for fraud.
Michelle- Is it possible that you may have accessed SR from her computer before? If you haven't then I would file a TT for her through account with her email address and letting them know the issue she is having. This way they can check to see what the issues are with her accounts.

I'll check that out- I don't think I logged onto her computer but I'll file a tt for her and see what happens. Thanks for the help!

Well, we are on the same domain here at work, but we are on static ip addresses, so internally, we are all different. Could it be that from outside work it sees us on the same IP?

Both of you should check your IP address from your computers. If they are the same, then I think that is your problem. www.ipchicken.com

I know that the IP addresses are different (I work in the IT dept) and we have assigned static ip addresses. We are on different floors so the last two octets of our addresses are different.
She is going to try it from home and see if it works.

I bet that is the case. Inside of your network you are different but outside I bet its the same ip address. If she tries at home she might want to try setting up a new account because otherwise it will still block her old account.
