Eventhough the surprise was ruined I was so excited! I can't wait for a chance to use it. I'm not complaining at all, I just think this new postage size envelope system is stupid. My niece sent out x-mas cards and they sent most of them back to her because the envelope was upright facing instead of sideways and she addressed them that way. My sister got hers but had to pay extra postage.

Well, I finally got mine today, along with an apology from "Your Postmaster".

The envelope was inside a plastic sleeve with a printed generic apology that my mail was "inadvertently damaged in handling by your Postal Service".

The wonderful gift was intact, the letter however was quite crumpled.

My fault. Somehow when I ran the envelopes mail merge through stamps.com, the wrong addresses got by. I always have trouble with the NY ones, and some NC. I'm surprised that Stamps.com let the address go through, but it did. They normally verify that they are proper addresses. Anyway, they are on their way again. Sorry.

I'm guessing that they must have taped it up at the post office after it fell out. Was the paper still inside that had the message from us? Was it ripped as well?

Two of the three envelopes that came back to me were pretty beat up. Janet's was actually ripped far enough to rip the paper inside. So I pulled out the letters and the tags and printed up brand new envelopes. I am so angry that the post office is so rough on this kind of stuff! I mean, isn't the reason that we have to pay extra postage because it isn't a standard letter and requires a little more care?

The letter was a little crumpled. The envelope didn't look too bad -- the tag could have only come out the top. But, if you didn't do the tape, then it does sound like it got taped after the tag came out.
