Has our AVG been hacked?

I'm not a techie person but came across this article. Can anyone tell me if this affects us with the AVG we use? Any steps we should take, if so?

From reading the article it looks like they just used a quote from someone who works for AVG

It says the software affected is called SmartCOP and Smartdog.
