SunshineGirl
02-21-2008, 01:24 PM
Sunshine Rewards and Pingo have teamed up to bring you our newest contest, Who Ya Gonna Call?
The rules are simple: Between now and midnight Eastern on February 28, post in this thread the answer to the following question:
"If you had a Pingo gift card and could call anyone, anywhere in the world, who would it be and why?"
We will randomly choose 10 winners and each will win a $10 calling card from Pingo.
What's more, Pingo has been gracious enough to extend an offer to us from now until the end of the month where every member of Sunshine Rewards can not only buy a $20 card and get an extra $5, but also take $5 off! Plus, when you shop through Sunshine Rewards between now and Feb. 28, you will earn 5.00 credits. See SR for details. (http://www.sunshinerewards.com/leads_sales.php?aid=601)
So whether you are buying a Pingo card to keep in an emergency, call your long-distance best friend, or give as a gift, everyone is winner in this contest!
(*Must be a member of Sunshine Rewards to enter this contest. Please be sure that your userid for SR is in your forum profile so that we can verify your membership)

I would call the High School Group from church who is going to the Dominician Republic for a month to help build a new school. They did it last year and quite a few were getting homesick half way through and it really encouraged them when a bunch of us emailed/called them.

If I got this phone card I would call my best friend Char (another member). She lives in Springfield Missouri. We actually grew up together here in California just 1 house away and then moved back to Alabama when her parents decided the grass was greener there. Several years ago she packed up her hubby and kids and moved to Missouri. I haven't seen her since our trip last August to Disneyworld and then before that was right before Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. She is the only one who really understands my life besides my hubby and I miss her so much.

I would actually give it to my cousin who is in Iraq right now.He just recently got promoted to Lance Corporal and his DD2 is living with her grandpa. Until David gets home. I am very proud of David for many years he was just plain mad and getting into trouble all the time, running away and doing whatever he could to get away. Finally after some changes took place he went into the Marines and has done a 360 degree change. I wish I could send a pingo card to all of them over there but that wouldnt be realistic. What would be is for me to send it to him so he could call his little one back home.

I would call my best friend. She moved last year, only 1 hour away, but it seems like forever away. We used to talk EVERY day. Now we talk a few times a week. We miss seeing and talking regularly. It has been a hard adjustment for both of us.

I would call my penpal, Junko, who lives in Japan. We've been friends for nearly two decades, starting when we were both 16 years old. We began writing one another when our schools participated in a penpal program in 1988--before the internet! We started out writing letters, graduated to the internet in 1998 and have talked to one another a few times over the past ten years. We spend so much time asking "WHAT?!" when we're talking so the phone bill adds up quickly! I would love to have a "freebie" phone call so I didn't feel so guilty about all those "WHAT'S?!" :p
(Sorry for being so long-winded.)

If I won I would give my Pongo card to my Mom. She recently had a car wreck in which she was stuck inside her car for over 1 hr while rescue workers tried to get her out. As a result of the accident she broke her left shoulder and her back at l2 and L4. She lives on a fixed income so she has no long distance calling on ehr phone.
Since she is now confined to bed she could really use it to call her BF in PA.

I'd call my dad... it is hard living on the opposite coast from him... I'm really close to my father, but don't get to see or talk to him enough.
It would also make a great stocking stuffer for the kids to be able to keep in contact with friends who have moved away... or even for them to be able to talk to grandparents whenever they wanted to.

I would call a family in Zimbabwe that I stayed with in 1997 for 3 months. I went there to volunteer for Hospice with patients with HIV but when that didn't work out I volunteered at the elementary school for grade 3. The family I stayed with were amazing people and took such great care of me during my 3 months in their country.

I would use it to call my best friend in florida. I didn't realize how much I missed her until I made a last minute decision last Saturday to blow off work in order to drive home for her wedding. The 5 minutes we got to spend talking with each other was so worth it and made me remember how much fun we have talking to one another.

I would give it to my grandfather. He is 87 and only has 2 of his brothers left. One in Tx and one in North MS. He does not call them much and this would be a freebie call and they could just talk about their "Good ole days!":) And not worry about the phone bill.

My best friend Tina. She reminded me we have been friends this year for 30 years. When we meet in High School at first we did not like each other (had the same name), but became the best of friends. Over the years we became the best of friends. When I had to deploy the first time in the Navy as a single parent, she let my daugher live with her for the time I was gone without a question. Over the years, she has always been there no mater what I needed her for. We are as close as any who are actually blood family.

You said if I could call anyone - I would call the President of the United States and ask the following:
1. How could gas prices at the pump jump .10 in a 24 hour perioid?
2. Why do I have to pay taxes on necessities in life?
3. Why am I expected to take the equity in my home to pay for my kid's college expense?
I know the current President is on his way out and probably does not care about these issues - but at this time, I am just curious why the little guys are always seeming to pay the price for what goes wrong in this country.
I do not mean to get political, but this is just how I feel this week.

If I won a Pingo calling card, I'd call my mom more often. Since getting married, I've been closer to my mom than I ever have in my life emotionally. Unfortunately, because of moving around a lot, I've not been near my mother physically. The phone has been a literal lifeline back to my mom and the rest of my family.

The first person who came to mind was Jamie who's like a sister to me. He hubby is stationed in Italy and they moved there over a year ago. We communicate Via the net but to hear her voice and talk to each of her darling lil ones would be heavenly. I've called her once or twice but it's outrageous and I really miss hearing her laughter!

I would call Oprah! Why? Because I know it would be a very interesting conversation to be able to talk to a woman of her honor. It would be a great honor for me to be able to talk to her. I know there would be so much to say and so many topics to discuss. I have watched her show since it began, so it seems like I already know her! Maybe I would end up on her show once she found out my lifes` story! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: whiterain

Thanks SR and Pingo! This will mean alot to David. Our family lost his stepgrandmother ( the only grandmother he really new) my great aunt this past Wed. He was able to call home briefly Thurs. But only got to talk to his Sister so she could give him the details. This past weekend was really hard on everybody. It will mean alot to him more now than ever.
Thanks again!
