Ok, have to admit, it's been awhile since I have hung out in the forum. I check it every once in awhile. But I miss the chatter! Miss the conversations, the fun stuff! Can we get that going again?!?!

Anyone have fun plans for the summer?! What are you earning for? Have any personal goals you are working on?

I am going to Daytona Beach in three weeks. Working towards earning money so I can go on a cruise. And...trying to lose the last 20 pounds. Down 51, only 20 more to go! I want to wear a bikini on that cruise! LOL

Ok...who's next?!

I still want to go somewhere for my 50th birthday-I actually turned 50 last September-but still haven't celebrated. I told my dd-want to do a "last minute cruise again?"

I love planning trips, but sometimes doing last minute vacations are just as fun.

I am going on a cruise next month! Just a short one - taking the Disney Magic 2 nighter out of NYC. Working to save for our Disney World vacation in October for my 30th birthday! :)

Other than that, I have a lot of weddings to attend this summer!

You need to celebrate!! Last minute trips are so fun! I like just having to go with the flow instead of overplanning like I tend to do if I have a long time to do it!

I had a melt down at Epcot 5 years ago, waiting for my dh in the smoking area by Mission Space. He taught me to slow down. I know smoking is wrong and I try to get him to quit everyda.

We actually met the nicest people in the smoking areas. Some of our fondest memories are meeting people in these areas. And we had some great conversations when we slowed down. I was so commando and my husband hated touring the parks like that.

We are heading to WDW in early June!! This has been a rough year so far so we are really ready for this trip!!

I had to cancel our trip for the Princess 1/2 Marathon earlier this year because my son was in the hospital for 2 weeks. That with some other family medical stuff has been exhausting! The kids are super excited for the trip! We'll be there for the last weekend of Star Wars weekends. My husband also wants to try to do a surprise trip to DL at the end of the summer so we are working on planning that now too!:mickey:

Surveys have been really good for me, so I am adding as much as I can to our Disney funds!

I am also running again. I had trained and was ready for the 1/2 marathon right before his hospital stay. I just now started running again last month and am trying to build up speed now. My husband and I are planning to run a 1/2 marathon together in the Fall so I need to figure out our training plans for that. We are also really wanting to do the Marathon weekend at WDW in January if we can figure out the logistics with the kids :)

my parents decided to surprise the family (my two brothers and our spouses/children) with a trip to DW in January! I recently found sunshine rewards when planning for the trip and now I am addicting to saving as much as I can before January.

Its been tough though to do all the surveys because I work full time and don't have the internet at home.....

On a non-disney note, we are buying r first house in a week! soooooo exciting and LOTS to get done...looks like this will be a very exciting summer :sunshine:

We're working toward our Disney trip of the year in a few weeks and I am so excited! We didn't spend much time there last year because we did Universal and a Disney Cruise. So I am ready to hit every single ride and attraction this year!!

I'm also trying to convince SunshineGuy that he and the kids should come to New York with me before Affiliate Summit in August. If I can get the finances worked out, it would be a great opportunity. So I'm not counting on it yet...but trying to work toward it.

Great idea for a thread! Everyone has such exciting plans and, for once, so do I! DH and I are leaving soon for a tour of England, Scotland and Wales to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary (a few months early, lol!) :sunshine:

Wow. This is a wonderful thread. Thanks for sharing. All of the plans sound great! I don't know what we are going to do yet. We are kinda last minute surprise kinda people most of the time. LOL. At first I hated that but now I kinda like it. DH has finally rubbed off on me. So this Summer I'm not sure where we are heading.

However, next summer we are definitely heading to Hawaii. So I'm going to try and earn as much as I can with my surveys and shopping. Maybe this will help me get motivated again since I have a long term goal.

No plans for the summer but we just got back from two weeks at Disney. I'm trying to earn another $500 GC to bring on our next two week trip to Disney in October. Now if you asked what people were doing next year that would be another story. In January we are going on a cruise to the Caribbean, March a cruise to Hawaii, July a cruise to Alaska and then October I'm bringing my SIL to Disney as my poor husband by this time has run out of vacation days, I guess someone has to work to pay for all this!!! :rotfl:

I'm so envious of everyone's plans. I was in Disney last October, but my nephew is getting married at the end of June so that's been the focus in my family for the last few months.

No plans for summer vacation this year (). I need some landscaping work done including a French drain, so that's where my money is going this summer.

I'm hoping for a trip in the Fall with my sister to the outlets in Lancaster, PA and Delaware (yay!! no sales tax). Always stop in Gettysburg on the way back, stay overnight, have dinner at the Dobbin House, and walk around town. I love Gettysburg. If you've never been there, it really is a must see place.

Enjoy your summer everyone!!

I finally have my internet back at home. We had a storm last week that knocked the power out and I think fried our old router - that or when everything came back on the settings were crossed. So I ordered a new router that came in today and have it all set back up. I refuse to pay AT&T $15 a month to have them fix the connection between their modem and my router. I also refuse to pay $30 to get help from Linksys when I can buy a better router for that price.

So nothing new going on here. I've been slacking on the weight loss and am mad at myself. I'm heading to the gym tonight. I have been dabbling with a personal budget for myself the past 2 months. So far I've failed but I'm learning alot. We have a trip to Disney booked for September so I'm hoping to get back to the surveys so I can pay a little more of our trip off with "free money". We are also planning a Baltic cruise next August but Royal Caribbean hasn't released the ability to book it yet and so I'm just waiting around and can't officially say I'm going yet.

So glad everyone has joined me! Everyone sounds like they are gearing up for a great summer!!! We are also hoping to explore more of Michigan. We love going for drives, and just discovering places to hike, or things to see. We didn't get out nearly as much last summer as we would have liked. But this will be our second one here, so time to get going! Hoping to head north for the 4th of July, as we usually try to go that time, as it is my husband's birthday. But not having luck with availability at our favorite resort.

If anyone lives in Northern Ohio, my cousin is playing baseball for the Lake Erie Crushers this summer. Go check them out!

I'll buck the trend and say I'm looking forward to staying home this summer! Last fall and winter our lives were insanely busy helping to open a new restaurant, and it seems like once that settled down we had two weeklong trips just a month and a half apart. This week I finally feel like we can settle into a normal routine, although our new normal is busier than just one year ago.

These two recent trips have put a dent in my vacation savings, so I'm hoping to earn some extra on SR to help pay for our November trip! We're going with friends, each of us have a 1 bedroom at Bay Lake Tower. We've stayed there once before and we're really excited to go back. I haven't seen Christmas decorations in WDW for a while, so I'm ready to soak up everything, maybe pitch a tent at Osborne Lights ;)

Good to hear! I've never been and I'm a sucker for 'haunted' places & really want to check Gettysburg out. I was hoping to go this summer. We usually go to Hersheypark for a day and I was hoping to turn it into a mini-vacation with a stop at Gettysburg as well. I hope we can!

I feel like my summer is over already and it hasn't even started! My DD made the All Star Team for softball and there are three tournaments over the next 4 weeks, this year only one is an overnight trip to San Juan/Capistrano.

DD is heading to MI in July after 4 weeks of summer school, she'll spend a week with her BFF and then I pick her up and we head to Chicago for my DS wedding reception (she was married in Jamaica in Nov). We'll spend a week there and then head to Washington, DC for 6 days - meeting up with DH. Then we will drive to Tennessee for my niece's wedding, we'll only be there for the weekend.

We are thinking of going to WDW in November - no plans yet - I was told that the Fantasyland expansion would be opening then - so we'll try to tie our plans to that. Hopefully, Disney will come thru with some tickets for us as DH is the creative architect for the project.

I'm jealous of all the trips you guys have planned! I've been cleared medically to do Cedar Point in a few weeks, so that could be an adventure with me coming off a broken ankle. Other than that, I'm sticking to short trips this summer. I'd like to make a trip to Cincinnati and do something with my brother for a few days, but haven't gotten a date figured out for that yet.

I'm thinking next year might work for a Disney trip for me....I've been made permanent at my job, but I don't think I have the vacation time available this year for that nor the finances. Maybe next year....

I'm doing an abbreviated trip to the vineyard this year. 4th of July weekend I am going to NYC for a family thing. Labor day weekend, I am going to a friend's wedding in Westchester. I am hoping to get to affiliate summit east, but trips to NYC add up. I was wanting to go to Disneyland, but I think I may skip it for moving expenses.
I am planning on going to the marathon weekend, my brother is running the half, and my dsil the 5k.

I am ridiculously busy getting stuff ready for the fall. I am trying to set up my field placement, and find an apartment (I had an interview yesterday, and saw 2 places today).

Did you see Nessie? My mom has been to Scotland twice (never made it up to Nessie) and I would like to go sometime in the future. She always talks about how beautiful it is up there.

Thanks Cate! Yeah, I spent 10 months of being unemployed or *barely* employed (one month temp assignment in there along with 5-10 hours a week PT at my former job the last 6 weeks of unemployment), and then I spent 13 months being a contract worker. I was really nervous in March when my contract was about to expire at the end of the month and there had been no extension and they were still a few weeks away from a decision about the permanent job. This was right after I broke my ankle and cold not drive, so my coworkers volunteered to drive me to and from work. I actually went to work April 2 without a finalized contract in place, but knew I would have it finalized any day at that point! I have some truly wonderful coworkers now!

How's your job going? I know you went through the same thing last year.

It really is great to see updates from all of your lives! I've missed my SR people!

Did my third 5K today! Had my best time yet!! ;) Glad to hear your job is going well, Cate, and hopefully you will be at 100% health soon! Cedar Point..we are thinking of heading there this summer sometime soon.

Kayla...enjoy your "less busy" time! And a restaurant? You and Tom just can't keep only one iron in the fire?! ;)

My job is going well. I had a good "annual" review in March and it went well and was very positive. I am finally getting into a good routine and have done my tasks enough for me to get through them without many review notes/changes which was a big worry of mine when I first started.

It is funny how hindsight works. I am close with one of my old coworkers and she has just been run into the ground since I left. I'm really glad I was fired so I didn't have to go through what she is going through.

I realized that I have to get in gear with taking surveys because we have a trip to WDW planned next Christmas for 2 weeks. Next month, the DH and I will be celebrating our 15th anniversary and since we are saving for WDW, we will do something small like a dinner. I am in the home stretch with school and will be graduating in December-I can't wait until its over. It takes up so much of my time.

Its nice to give a little insight to my SR family.
