This is tempting. I have been wanting one but keep convincing myself that it's just a "toy" that I don't really need. I only have a desktop computer at home so I would need wireless router too, correct?

Probably. I bought 3, last yr. One for me, when it came out and then 2 for my girls because they liked playing with mine so much.

I have wireless, at home. Pretty simple to set up. Way simpler than in the early yrs. Last couple computers, that I bought, I turned it on. Was asked if I wanted to go online. Said, yes. And, I was. I have a 802.?? g router. Have had the same one for probably 8 yrs.

On the other hand, you could probably move books by connecting to your computer. Or, go into McDonalds or anywhere else with free wifi and update your books.

I love mine. Can't you tell? LOL There are several websites that will you update you, daily, with the best in free books or good deals. I probably have way over 500 books but I have tried to be a little pickier and only get those that are truly my kind of read. HTH
