Hey guys! I wanted to give you guys a sort of PSA if you use both AOL and SR. I have been using AOL for YEARS since like 1999. I have always loved it and never found much use for Internet Explorer because I am stubborn and liked using AOL. Well SR changed all of that.
The real reason for me posting is to let you guys know that SR is really NOT compatible with AOL. Don't try to use it because in the end you will just get aggravated. I stopped using AOL about 3 months into doing SR because only a part of my credits were showing up. I decided to use IE just for doing SR and I would continue to keep open my AOL to check email and etc.
About 3 months ago I got a wireless laptop and I started to notice that nothing was crediting right. I couldn't figure it out. Well the other day I realized what it was when I saw my own blog comments I was leaving on my blogs. I had two different IP addresses. One was for AOL and one was for Bellsouth (my provider). What was happening was that when I would log in to my wireless it would set up a connection. AOL would then establish its own connection. The IP's were switching back and forth. If I did an offer the cookie my show one IP but by the time the cookie was collected the computer might be on a different IP. It was really weird.
I thought at first it might just be my wireless so I plugged in to the DSL cable and turned the wireless of and things worked fine. Then I decided to try the wireless but without opening AOL at all and it also worked. I figured out that I can't have AOL open AT ALL when doing offers or shopping because if you do and are on wireless you may have an issue with the IP addresses fluctuating back and forth.
So this whole long thing is really just to save you guys some heartache and money LOL if you are going to come do some offers or shopping with SR- turn off your AOL. Then once you have gotten your credit you can go ahead and sign back in to AOL. HTH!
