Let's say that you were approaching the silver anniversary of being untimely ripped from your mother's womb, and were thinking a trip to the Happy Place (WDW) might be a nice way to spend it. Given the option would you a)stay cheaply, and fufill your dream of eating at Victoria and Albert's, or b)fufil your dream of staying at the Contemporary? This would be late January,, if that matters.
Strange way to describe it...but I would go to the Contemporary.
I'd stay at the Contemporary - dinner is just a few hours and the hotel is for the length of the stay.
I vote Contemporary, too. Have fun if you hypothethically chose to celebrate that untimely ripping.

I have to go with the Contemporary (although if it were me I would do the Poly :clap:)........let the woman who gave you life a very comfy nights sleep in those great beds!! (a meal at best makes you feel happy for only a short while.........after doing the parks a great bed and pillow win out everytime!)

Stay at the Contemporary! Yes, I too would love to eat at V&A but that is just one night for a few hours. BUT, staying at the Contemporary would be for your entire stay! Either way you can't go wrong - unless you decide not to go. :rotfl:
I did this for my trip to celebrate 1/2 a century! :rotfl:
But I didn't go with my mom that time, I went with 7 of my girlfriends, in October, a FEW years ago!!! No hubbie, No kiddos. We rented points from a DVC member and stayed at the Boardwalk Villas. We had two villas, a one bedroom and a 2 bedroom. My cousin used to work at the Boardwalk, he arranged for our rooms to be close to each other and on the 1st floor facing the pool. My friends loved it, had Bloody' in the morning by the pool and late night in the jacuzzi/hot tub with a nice glass of wine. We had my birthday dinner at the Flying Fish and it was wonderful. (It was by far the BEST Disney vacation I've ever been on and it was only for 3 nights.
Wherever you choose will be wonderful, you'll be in WDW, what could be bad??!!!
I would fulfill my longtime dream and stay where you want, the Contemporary i nice, I vote HOTEL over Dinner!

i vote for v & a's! i am trying to figure out when to go myself.
the contemporary doesn't do anything for me, but the beach club or animal kingdom, or the poly would make me think twice.
again, i vote for the nice dinner.
Thanks all. Other pertenent information:
1. My guess is it'll be a solo trip, although Mom may come if I pull the "You said I could have a vacation for my 21st, and we didn't" card (Due to family circumstances)
2. So I'd be dining at V&A solo.
3. Part of it will depend on a)if I like Pop when I'm there next month, b)if there's a bounceback deal then.
4. I have a Disney cruise booked for May 09, but I'm not 100% sure I'm going (booked it to reserve it, pretty much). Back before I was going in August, I'd said my next trip would be in Oct 09 for F&W and MNSSHP, I don't know if I'd rather go then (I love food and booze, and Halloween is my favorite holiday).
Aggghhh...hard choices. My first thought was Contemporary for sure! But then....if it was a matter of staying longer, I'd do Pop. V&A would be nice, but not my first choice for sure!

Okay, another vote for the Contemporary here.
Just e-mailed for a quote for the CR-I know it'll be an estimate, as Jan 08 rates aren't out yet, but we can see. I'm not really worried about the cost of a mod or value, but I want to know what the CR would run me.
i'd downgrade to a moderate resort (though if i WERE going deluxe, i'd vote for the wilderness lodge-LOVE the look of that place!) so i could stay longer, lol, i can't get enough WDW!

I've stayed at Pop and we loved it....we'll be there again REAL soon!! I'd vote for a cheaper hotel so that I could stay longer...I'd must rather do a value and spend more time with The Mouse. :mickey:

My eyes are still getting back in my head after seeing estimated costs for the CR. It'd just be for the weekend (my birthday's on a Friday). I'm starting to become enamored with the concept of renting DVC points at BWV. Might still make a V&A reservation next week (my birthday's right after the ADR change, so I'd need to wait to see if I could get, say, Jiko or Cali Grill).
I would be able to ask for my birthday off until early December, so I'm not ok with renting DVC pints as I'm unsure if I can commit. I'm leaning with either a)Pop and V&A's, b)a moderate with the DxDP. I think I'm making the V&A reservation this weekend either way.
I'd second this and especially if you can get a tower room with a Magic Kingdom view. It is fantastic. We did this for my daughters third birthday and had a great time. We did it mainly for ourselves but it was nice to "blame" it on her. LOL!!!!!Quote:

I would totally vote for option b. When my sister and I went for our girls weekend this spring we did the first night at Pop and paid out of pocket for meals and then the rest of the weekend at SSR with the deluxe dining plan.Quote:

Our dinner at Narcoose's was one of the top restaurant meals of my life, seriously. It wasn't just the food, it was the atmosphere, the relaxed pace, our great server, the french press pot of coffee and homemade coconut macaroons ending the meal, etc. :love: Just a truly wonderful experience.
If you haven't tried out a lot of the signature restaurants, I would really suggest doing that instead of doing just V&As.

I would choose a stay at my dream resort over dinner. I love the feel of the deluxe resorts, although I've never stayed at CR, it looks really nice and it's on my list to try. This is just me, but V & A doesn't hold that much appeal for me personally. I like Disney theme type restaurants, because I can do fancy fine dining type places at home. For a special birthday dinner, I think I'd go fot California Grill at Wishes time.
BUT.....
you should think about what you want and pamper yourself with an indulgent b-day trip including whatever will make you the happiest.
So: there has been an ADR made at V&A's for 1 one my untimely ripped day. :)
However, looking at WDW's site, I could get a room at Pop with deluxe dining and a park hopper for under $700...not too bad.
I think I'm going to hold off on seeing what kind of deal they have when I'm there, plus if I do this I'd probably cancel my Disney cruise in May....
I would always vote for Contemporary or a longer stay over any restaurant....just my thoughts...:banana:
I would vote for the hotel - however, I would choose the Poly over the Contemporary. Go to Boma's or Jiko's for dinner - they both have amazing food too.
I'm another one of the oddballs, I personally would stay at a cheaper hotel but I also would rather stay longer at the parks then spend a lot on a restaurant(i cannot figure out how that is spelled lol)The way I see it is if I plan on spending a lot of time in the hotel, then i will pay more for it, but if im just sleeping and showering i go for the most affordable. But I say do whatever makes you the happiest, if you can manage to save a lot before the trip, do both :) Did i mention i am not the most decisive person, so i probably shouldnt respond to posts asking for advice between 2 things :D
If it were me, I would stay at my dream resort for sure. I would also go with a MK view as well. We stayed at the Polynesian for Christmas 05 and that was my dream since I was a kid. It was truly my dream trip!!!!
Dinner at V & A would be nice I am sure, but it only lasts for a little while.
Opinion: So, there was no bounceback. So I'm leaning towards Pop. I have two days on a parkhopper, and I'm hoping for a PPP. I'm trying to decide if I should:
A)Book through AAA for the deluxe DDP and AAA rates.
B) Book AAA room only rate through a Dsney specialist TA
C) Book DDP+room through a Disney specialist TA.
I've never used a specialist TA before, but I want to this trip as I a)think codes may come out, b)I'm not able to make ADR's until October.
Thoughts?

I definitely think we're going to be seeing some new discounts/codes as months go on. The economy is in the tanker and it just hasn't hit Disney really hard yet as most people plan their Disney vacation a year or more out. IMO, the next few months will start to show the decrease in numbers and deals will come out to fill the place. :clap:
So Pop is $157.54, and CBR is $268.22 . CBR would be new to me.
Thoughts?
My first pick would be Poly, however, that is my dream. It sounds like CBR is yours. It's your birthday, I might not pay the diff all the time, but I like to splurge for my birthday.Quote:

The new pirate-themed rooms will cost $25 more per night and will be available with both standard and water views. I thought you wanted to stay at the Contemporary thou'? CBR is nice thou'..I've stayed there many times, (hanging on those hammocks!)
Just booked the Pop. I couldn't justify the cost of the CR (maybe for my 30th, LOL). My V&A reservation has been made, so I think I'll maybe book CRT and Jiko.
