My 5 year old just watched this movie with DH for the first time! She loves it, too!!
My favorite part (at least the one that just makes me giggle)....when Ralphie is helping his dad change the flat tire....the bolts go flying....
"Fuuuuuuuudge. Only, I didn't say FUDGE!"
I like the scene where the kids gets his tongue stuck to a pole. Seemed to happen to at least one person a winter where I grew up. :rotfl:
The pink bunny suit is my favorite!!
My favorite is the dad getting the leg lamp. It being a major award from France.
The kid getting his tongue stuck on the pole and the little brother trying to walk to school in that snow suit.
My favorite part is the final scene where they're eating dinner at the Chinese restuarant because the neighbor's dogs ate their turkey. Fa-ra-ra-ra-ra...:rotfl:
"You'll shoot your eye out!!" :)
Oh my there are so many that I guess I would have to say when they sitting at the table eating and is brother is making the pig noises eating the mashed potatoes. That is just disgusting. But still have to remember the bunny suit and the tongue on the pole. :)
I can honestly say I strongly dislike this movie. I can not stand to watch it.
The way the mom wraps up Ralphie's little brother to go out to play, then he can barely move. That is what I remember about growing up in Chicago. :rotfl:
The "tongue stuck to the pole" scene. I laugh out loud every time that part comes on!
i love the comment about it being italian "fra jilly" LOL
Gosh - so many great lines! It's a toss up between...
"Everybody upstairs - we're going out to eat"
or
"my father worked obscenities like a fine tapestry"
or
"It's a Major Award"
or
"Fra-Gee-Lay"
the 2 best scenes are of course when the kid gets his tongue stuck on the pole but also when ralphie asks santa (at the mall) for the bb gun and he tells him that "you'll shoot your eye out kid" and kicks him down the slide with his big black boot. i laugh every time i see both of those scenes.:sunshine:
I love every time the father goes to fix the furnace, swearing all the way..
"In the heat of battle my father wove a tapestry of obscenities that as far as we know is still hanging in space over Lake Michigan."
ahahhahaha:rotfl:
I actually hate the movie. My family loved it though so I had to watch it a lot as I grew up. If I have to pick a part I like when his brother gets into all the snow clothes and trys to walk around.
I actually hate the movie too...but I will go with the part I can stand the most...the kid getting his tongue stuck to the pole. My DH likes the leg lamp...he actually found an ornament at Hallmark this year of the darn thing. I had to put my foot down on that...no way will that be on my tree.
like a lot of others, the kid getting his tongue stuck to the pole!
I like how people were all saying, "You'll shoot your eye out"
I love the part when his Mom washes his mouth out with soap and he tells her his friend taught him the bad word. Then his Mom calls his friends' Mom and she is yelling so loud and whipping him at the same time!! Isn't life grand!!
:banana::banana::banana:
I love so many parts...the lamp, the rabbit outfit...the snowsuit...
hmmm guess I will say when the neighborhood dogs take their turkey after the father picks after it..... I can only imagine......the beasts.
"Randy lay there like a slug, it was his only defense."
"FRA-GEE-LEY, must be italian"
"I can't put my arms down!"
the tongue getting stuck on the pole
I'll go with the part where Ralphie is "day dreaming" in school. I was such a day dreamer, I can relate so well.
Wasn't he "daydreaming" about getting a big class prize for the best essay and he received a C+. That was me all the way C+. We had way to many brainy-acks in my class, there was no way, the nuns would give me a decent grade no matter how hard I tried. These kids that were the really smart in my class are Dr's and lawyers now. Me, I am the "church secretary" LOL.
I agree with KimTrent... it's certainly not my favorite either.
I just think the whole movie is hysterical! There are so many scenes in it that I look forward to that 's it's hard to pick just one. However, Mama dressing up the kid brother with multiple layers until his arms stick straight out certainly tickles my funny bone. I look forward to watching this movie every year!:sunshine:
dogs eating the turkey... and the end with them in the restaurant and the whole duck come out...
The bunny suit.
everytime I see that scene....I just feel so sorry for the kid.
When Ralphie had the bar of soap in his mouth. His mom called another mom on the phone and you could hear her yelling at her son.
I love the pink bunny suit and when Ralphie's brother is all bundled up lol. :)
The part with the gun and poking the eye out. I have only seen bits and peices of it, so that is the part that I remember....
"You'll shoot your eye out". We heard that a million and one times when we were growing up.
It's the leg lamp of course. My DH laughs so hard he cries when he watches this movie. When he found an actual leg lamp 3 years ago, he had to buy it. It was proudly put on display today in fact. I'm glad our lamp is only about 18 inches tall, not a full size replica.
I *LOVE* this movie
Too many quotes to choose from
Love 'Fra Gee Lay- must be Italian'
'But.....the bell rang!'
'It's a major award!'

Sadie's favorite: when Santa pushes Ralphie down the slide
