Sunshine Rewards Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

Published by at 9:42 am under Sunshine Rewards News

As October draws to a close, I want to thank the members of Sunshine Rewards for their support in our Breast Cancer Awareness efforts this month.

On October 17 and 18, I walked 39.3 miles in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Not only did members donate money through their Sunshine Rewards accounts, but some outright donated to the race. In addition, I received so much encouragement both before and during the race. I ended up raising a total of $4,989.07 and my team raised $40,556.61.

In addition, members supported various merchants who were selling products to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness. Through our Shop for a Cause page we saw many pink products being sold with proceeds going to various charities.

Lastly, we shared stories. Some members posted in the forum about their own breast cancer battles or those of friends and family. Others emailed me personally to talk about how much the fundraising and awareness in October meant to them. When you consider that 1 in 8 women will develop invasive breast cancer, it means that thousands of Sunshine Rewards members alone will eventually be diagnosed.

I know that Breast Cancer Awareness is only one cause that needs awareness and fundraising. Over the years we have raised money for organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, Best Friends Animal Society, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With your support, I hope that Sunshine Rewards will continue to be able to give back in positive ways for many years to come.
