Update! This has been extended to 9/8/14 at 3pm EST/
This is a deal that seems too good to be true. Send someone 18 roses for free? I actually tried it and it works!
“Footballentine’s Day” is totally a made up holiday by 1800Flowers, but it does have some merit. A lot of wives will find themselves ignored on Sunday while their husbands watch football all day. In my house, it’s the other way around…so I may need to send these roses to my husband!
Fake holiday aside, you really can send a bouquet of 18 roses for free. Visa has launched a new “Visa Checkout” where you set up an account with your credit card and can just enter that information when you make purchases rather than your whole credit card number. You can create that account when you make this purchase.
I went through the whole process and here is how it works:
- Click on the link for the Happy Footballentine’s Day Roses offer.
- Select the regular 18 roses (you can upgrade for a fee)
- Add them to your card
- Choose delivery date of September 5 or 6
- Choose to pay by VISA checkout
- Add a message to you card about anything you want
- Create a VISA checkout account that uses your…VISA card
- Put in the promo code VISA63 (they do not autopopulate this)
- Pay shipping and handling.
Shipping and handling for me was $14.99. That is really not too bad to pay to send someone a box of roses.
What will you do with your $15 roses? Send them to a friend or family member “Just Because”? Use the opportunity to get cheap flowers for someone without them knowing they are cheap?

There are some people who are just hard to shop for. Other people are easy to shop for but you want to pick a really special gift. My teen can be both of those at any given time! That’s why I decided for her 13th birthday to have a music box made for her at Music Box Attic.
I was like a kid in a candy store customizing it. First I chose the box that I wanted (a pretty traditional wooden box that was around $45). Next I selected to have it engraved on the inside with her name.
Then came the fun part–choosing the music. My daughter LOVES music, and so many special songs were possibilities. I probably spent an hour just listening to the song choices. I ended up going with “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Miserables because it is one of her favorite musicals.
Check out Jillian’s video below and start thinking about all of the people in your life who could use a music box or jewelry box (there are difference!).
Plus, don’t forget that we always post the most recent Music Box Attic coupon codes! Right now you can save up to $250 on your holiday purchase.

Amazon has announced that its new service, Kindle Unlimited, is now available. You get access to over 600,000 books including popular titles like Diary of a Wimpy Kid, The Giver, Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Lord of the Rings, and More. Some audio books are also included.
The great part is that you do not have to have a Kindle to be able to access the library. You can use pretty much any electronic device.
Right now you can get a 30-day trial of the service for free.
